Ablesam171: School fees has nothing to do with the sacrifice put in the practice of medicine, in addition to the overall welfare and working conditions of healthcare professionals. This is what sets apart the practice and healthcare system as a whole in advanced and organised countries from places like Nigeria. Arguably, medics pay relatively higher than others in Nigerian universities, but that isn't the basis why healthcare workers have to be well compensated. 1 Like |

So what decisive steps should be taken to PREVENT such attacks on communities across the Country? Clearly, the law enforcement agencies are not up to par. |

Imagine Nigeria not larger than 2 states - California and Texas being under siege by bandits, terrorists and criminal herders for over a decade, but such can never be heard in a Country such as the US which arguably is the most hated Country on earth. What the heck, even Ghana you no fit see this kind rubbish! Nigerians need to wake up! The least you can do for yourselves is clear all these idiots out by 2027. 1 Like |

Ndenomy: Retaliate against who? From Kaduna to Taraba to Adamawa to Benue, Platueau, Ondo, Edo, Ogun, Enugu, Bayelsa, Delta, etc? Who exactly? Every other Nigerian? It's approaching the point where citizens in every one of the States mentioned above will decide to flush out the criminal elements in their forests. |

BEFORE THAT, the killers of Deborah, the teenage sons of the police officer killed in Yobe a few days ago, and killers of women and children in Ondo, Enugu, Benue, Plateau, etc MUST be paraded. Senseless oaf! In fact, ALL the Fulanis perpetrating crimes in our forests MUST be flushed out. |

Antoeni: If true, he probably did so out of retaliation to losses incurred by cattle grazing on his farm and apparently did not get any assistance from the so-called NGOs, government or law enforcement agencies, and resorted to such action. It may also be unintentional. From occurrences across the Country over the last few years, it's obvious the farmers and victims of criminal herders are not paid attention to because they choose to be peaceful and law-abiding. When Nigerians are ready, they will focus on allowing competent, intelligent and bold individuals into governance, not the double-dealing opportunists seen today. 45 Likes 1 Share |

dederocs: You're one the few on this forum to state what actually escalated the situation. We're waiting for the 'investigations'. During the search, there was resistance and one of the occupants stabbed a vigilante personnel. This led to what happened. But even more importantly, with the level of lack of confidence in the government in saving lives and properties, coupled with their apparent inability in neutralising these kidnappers and killers in the forests, this incident would be replicated in many other States in no time. 6 Likes |

SporaD8: Three days ago, two boys were murdered by a mob in Yobe because they were sons of a police officer; the officer who escaped was warned to return to wherever he came from the South. No statement from any of these funny people. No manhunt. As for Southern leaders, I've always maintained most of them are just opportunists whose only priority is themselves. Many of them with even questionable characters and criminal records. The government should buckle down on their primary responsibility of providing security to Nigerians, or else, frustrated Nigerians will replicate such incident in various parts of the Country. Such has never happened in Edo, but the menace of persistent kidnappings and killings in recent times has caused some agitation amongst the people. People will begin to react. |

Destroyerofyeeb: Do you know why this is a critical security issue? The so-called 'retaliation' would be met with even more brutal response from the Edos. That's what every smart person is trying to curtail. But the failure lies with the government. Such incidents would soon be replicated in various parts of the Country in no distant time as the government has proven to be unable to protect the lives and properties of law-abiding citizens; Nigerians will begin to act for themselves in respect to security matters. Citizens also have to be aware of their environment. It's unwise to travel with weapons in present Nigeria where practically most parts of the Country suffer from insecurity, kidnappings and killings. |

The government has performed woefully in securing citizens. People are now agitated.

People are frustrated and agitated. This is unfortunate. Edo Central has been experiencing a high incidence rate of kidnapping and killings, and the government has failed in protecting lives. People are beginning to take laws into their hands. |

The government of the day should take criticism and complaints from citizens in good faith. Attempting to intimidate or gag anyone would not only be futile, but counterproductive especially to their already dwindling popularity. The criticisms they receive today are child's play compared to their condemnable activities against GEJ's government when they were desperate for power. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

Homeboiy: Edo State government needs to sensitize residents in the State to abide by the laws of the State. The disregard for laws, safety and even common sense is at an appalling level. Notably, commercial drivers deliberately violate traffic laws by ignoring traffic lights, driving against traffic and stop in the middle of the roads to drop and pickup engers. This can be tackled in a multifaceted approach. Just a few: i) engage the public through sensitization and awareness campaigns via the ministry of information and orientation regarding laws of the State and penalties ii) place sanctions on the State NURTW whenever any of these drivers violate the laws. The agencies should just make video recordings the vehicles and the licence numbers. This would be a plausible way to generate revenue for the State while enforcing sanity iii) ensure perpetrators are brought to book; penalties should be stringent; iv) ensure corrupt personnel of the agencies face the full extent of the law; there are multiple cases of some of these personnel extorting law-abiding citizens, thereby bringing disrepute to the agencies and their colleagues who put in a lot of effort in their duty. v) investing in networks of surveillance cameras, etc. If this is not feasible presently, recordings can be made by phone cameras and video recording devices installed in vehicles. As for 'traders' who occupy the roads, Edo State government Must take full responsibility for whatever mishap happens there. For a government to be in a State and people flagrantly violate the State right in the capital city is gross irresponsibility. Agencies such as PSRT and EDSTMA need to have their personnel trained for the tasks ahead of them, and those who compromise their efforts should be purged out of the agencies. The military may have to be engaged at key spots to personnel of these agencies; they have our full . Edo State government has to tackle this menace deliberately perpetuated by a few, which poses great risks and inconvenience to citizens of the State. |
