The Abia Medical City is a public-private partnership (PPP) initiative aimed at reducing medical tourism by providing world-class healthcare services within Nigeria. This ambitious project envisions a sprawling medical complex that will host multiple specialty centers, delivering comprehensive and advanced care across various fields. Designed to meet modern international standards, the facility will be equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure and cutting-edge medical technology. Originally scheduled for launch during President Tinubu’s visit to Abia State in May, the project’s unveiling has been briefly postponed to June.

it seems Isiala Ngwa is the New Umuahia, the surprising thing is how this big project is being executed very quietly . please dont give the president such to commission rather give him the Port Harcourt Road to commission , let someone like Ebitu Ukiwe commission this or any of the elder statesmen like Kalu idika kalu , ABC Nwosu etc so that someone will not come and claim this glory in future as his achievements 10 Likes |

kettykin: Otti is close to Tinubu more than we would like to it. It doesn’t mean he is not loyal to LP but he has the ears of the president. I agree with your suggestion though. 2 Likes |

horsepower102: Let’s flip the script. Imagine Peter Obi is President of Nigeria, and Lagos is governed by Fashola, Tinubu, or Sanwo-Olu. Now ask yourself—would a sitting President Peter Obi be invited to commission a culvert in Lagos? 1 Like |

kettykin: The answer is no. Our politians do not play that level of bitter politics. Even buhari visited abia during the time of ikpeazu and he commissioned multiple projects. 1 Like |

My own is…has the funding been agreed and is it available!? Forgive me for being cynical, but all these sexy 3-D renderings don’t get me excited anymore!

IGBOPROMISE1: Funding is secure. Otti is one person that does his due diligence before doing anything. But you have every right to remain cynical considering the mental and emotional torture various slippery governors have put us through. 3 Likes |

Now, you are talking.. This is what I want to see. Quality structures, helpful infastructures.. Not all these town hall looking Airports being built here and there. If half of the governors in this country are up and doing like the Abia state governor, this country will be at another level in ten years.. 2 Likes |

Otti is really doing wonders in Abia State. These infrastructure is what is needed by Abia people who have suffered in the hands of bad governors since 1999. Thank God for Dr Alex Chioma Otti.

Isianlangwa is notorious for cannibalism even amongst Abians. Nobody go follow you enter this Medical City. Better relocate it to Umuahia or better still... Lagos ![]() |

If Gov. Otti is just another career politician, I would have simply written him off but we are talking about a technocrat here with proven records. Raising $1.3B through PPP is not rocket science for him, he is a seasoned financial Management expert and investment banker. Promise47: 3 Likes |

owobokiri: You need decent airports to attract investors. You need investors to help boost economic growth and pay corporate taxes that will help create the revenue for maintaining that beautiful medical structure you are looking at, and paying its staff! Development is a holistic phenomenon. Everything being built is important. |

In a country where majority of the citizenry go to the hospital with N20,000, this is a pipe dream. It's not worth it at the moment. It'll end up shutting down within a year due to low patronage, because our billionaire polithiefians who can afford it will keep on jetting to America and Europe for their medical needs.

Kemetian: Lets get our priorities right! You don't need an airport every ten kilometers to develop your state/country. There is an airport at Owerri nearby. There are airports in surrounding cities like Enugu, Abakaliki, Onitsha, Asaba, Portharcourt, Calabar, Uyoh etc.. All these brand new airports are just few kilometers from Aba. You don't need to build another capital intensive project like an airport near Aba, when you have your work cut out for you as regards the roads, the schools, the skills acquisitions centres, train services, modern bus transportation services, modern security networks etc. If there were mo airports nearby, then you can go for it.. But there are over half a dozen around .. Get your priorities right; Aba will need her airport some day, but at the moment she needs more basic infastructural developments tailored towards helping the industries in that bustling city to quickly develop above her peers in comparative . For instance, how about building a modern skills acquisitions centre with special emphasis directed at clothes and shoe productions in Aba? No such institutions exist there as we talk, unless you are talking about the polytechnic. All these Aba shoes manufacturers basically learned their crafts informally from their "masters"/"Ogas".. While Aba produces a lot of these, her products are lacking behind significantly in of quality when compared with stuffs from say Italy, Portugal or even China. Why not help the crafts of these hardworking Aba entrepreneurs by creating a center for more specific modern learning of skills in these areas? Airport ls are good, but when you have alternatives, you prioritise... 1 Like |
