#30k/month or #300k/month?

How do you accept a job offer for #30k/month in todays Nigeria, with your skillset?

If you send out 500 proposals on Upwork etc per month, you will have enough clients/projects to earn you 10 times that pay.

Dont do this to yourself, they sensed your desperation and capitalized on it.

Sorry about your experience.
wait how does this Upwork works self

What you need is the determination to succeed. I was over over 40 when I left Nigeria for for my masters degree in 2019. Graduated in 2021 and got a good job and the rest is history. I actually resigned from a well paying job in the oil and gas sector in 2019 and have never regretted my decision. ing and accepting that I had to work twice as hard was the driving force I needed to propel me to greatness.

Be focused and chase your dreams wholeheartedly and everything will align in your favour. I wish you the very best.

wow that really a bold step you took oooo.... I wish to be like you thinking of getting married and also applying for scholarship to relocate because Self funding is an issue and I had thought of taking a loan to move to the UK

I a day in 2012. I was in Crime Office at Main Gate, Uniben, completing my mandatory security clearance just after my final year exams. The SUG elections were also billed to take place during this period. Suddenly, There was a large commotion outside of the building and about 4 guys were bundled in by the security officials, followed by a woman who looked like an istrative staff. The guys I learned were students of Uniben who wanted to contest for various positions in the SUG executive branch but the Dean of Students Office refused to clear them. Without that clearance, they couldn't stand for election as they would be illegitimate candidates. The woman who followed them in was the Secretary to the Dean. The problem was that, suspiciously, only candidates of Benin origin were being cleared, other non Benin candidates were denied clearances. The reason the guys were brought in was because they, along with their ers, had gone to the Dean of Students office to demand an explanation. When a satisfactory one wasn't forthcoming, the boys began protesting the 'injustice'. The security men were called in and they rounded up the leaders ( in this case, the candidates) and hauled them to Crime Office. While the crime officials were questioning the boys, the secretary made a curious statement. She told the boys point blank, "Can a non-Yoruba person win an SUG election in Unilag?" I was shocked. Throughout my time in Uniben, the school had always championed meritocracy in appointing people to leadership roles yet now they had decided to play the ethnic card. I was happy that I would not be there to experience that with them. Sure enough the next VC just happened to be an Edo man ... smiley smiley smiley
but it's a Nigerian thing na... In Unilag can non Yoruba be vc? Even in ife pple were angry an ife indigene wasn't Made vc despite say na Yoruba the person be... One side can't be accommodating while elsewhere others node accommodate

For those that care to know or don't care to know... he was an Igbo man ... he did not play tribal politics..this is for that tribe that keeps on calling Igbos out. We can see who the real tribalists are in this country....

He announced SDP as winners of the election, despite Babangida telling him not to ... he was beaten black and blue by soldiers for defending democracy....defending an election a yoruba man won ... igbos voted massively for MKO .... but these yoruba people still decide to have so much hate for the igbos ... reason why I don't blame igbos that do same to them ... its obi that's their problem .. reason all other tribes should judge this matter and dine with a Long spoon while associating with them... u can all see what they did to Jonathan.... used propaganda to destroy his government, so they can get power ... despite a yoruba man ruling from 99 to 2007 ... while the one in asorock used tribal politics to get power ....very divisive and destructive tribe

Always that an Igbo man conducted the fairest and most free election in the history of this country ...but they choose not to give them presidency or even let them go ... one day all these will change for good
was an electoral chairman supposed to play politics...

This might be true in some cases but for the health care industry, i think having someone with a good solid health care industry experience will go a long way.
There are.some people that can function in just about any role but not everyone.

a common mistake
There is no logic to the assumption that a doctor or health professional should be minister of health
Ministers are political appointments not technical ones
Their job is to represent the electorates and give political leadership to technocrats

The last Minister of education was an embarrassment
His sole idea was stopping young people taking WAEC
The only technocrat job is attorney General

NIGERIANS lived a much better life under the military era.
Education, Health, Security, Economy just name it.
Many of the major refinery's and projects including the Iconic third mainland bridge, NNPC towers, Aso Rock Villa, 2ND Niger Bridge General Hospitals etc. in Nigeria that stood the test of time were built by the military government.
And the construction of many of this projects mentioned above were completed timely.
The military literally turned Abuja filled with bushes and forests into a construction site.
No matter how we deny it, history never lies...almost all infrastructures in Nigeria were built by the military.
Democracy is good.
But in the case of Nigeria, our democracy have caused us more harm than good.

the military did damage too concentrated power at the centre... Didn't do much for education...

It's not Arabic. It's Hausa written in Arabic letters. A native Arabic speaker will not understand what's written on the Army logo. FACT

In English it means: Victory is from God alone.

And it's secular not circular

Edit: So I have had someone correct me that it is a quote from the Holy Quran, which automatically makes it 100% Arabic. I stand corrected.

Hello gaby

I have a similar experience though I used the Kano-Niger-Agadez-Duruku-Shabhad-Tripoli route to connect Libya with destination PALERMO, ITALY.

I wish to pen down my story from the reason I left, to the the survival methods, the risks, the near death situations, loss of fellow travellers, the jobs, arrests, and how I came back to Nigeria alive.

I really don't know how to start but I know its something I can do. Tho I won't bare it all put because like you, I believe I can get facilators to help my ministry.

And Yes, I am from Edo State too.
you didn't make it in Italy??

Please, I write this because of the huge burden of losing my relative who was as eager as you to return to Europe by all means necessary but he died out of the same desperation despite making money.

He first made it to using an illegally-bought visa, back in the day when schengen visas carried no face and people purchased visas on port pages and inserted it into oluwole ports.

That night of his arrival, he was persuaded to go clubbing with a few people he met at the house where he stayed. That same night a fight broke out at the club where he was present and the German Police began their immigration control to identify those who were illegally residing in that state. One by one they were checked and immediately he was scooped to the Immigration Detention Center where he was deported to Nigeria a few days later.

He relocated to cotonou where he lived for over 10yrs. He began a successful used clothing business and he was doing quite well until he began having Yes Men, spending and living the lavish life. This led to his downfall.

He relocated back to Nigeria, struggling and doing his best to survive. It was during this time that we met and instantly i could see through his good heart. He was like a brother i never had. We became so close and i decided I was gonna help him out. I connected him to a family member and we discussed a sum to come up with so he could return to his former business.

He was given a fresh start and with the money he returned to cotonou but we never knew he still longed for Europe. From what we heard he was doing so well in cotonou again in less than a yr and he kept it touch occasionally.

Outta da blue one day, he calls me up telling me he's in Libya. I was shocked and asked for his motive. He told me he had embarked on the journey to Europe by road and I need fear not cos he was doing well. He said he was stuck in libya dealing drugs and he would eventually buy his way there. He made a lot of money and I convinced him to me in the shipping business to and fro Nigeria and leave Libya. He agreed and even sent money to buy some goods. So when I called him up to discuss the list of goods, he asked me to keep the money stating that the money should serve as his token of gratitude for what i did for him back then. I refused to accept but his usual self laughed it off and told me he would never accept it back....$1000. He promised me he was gonna come back to Nigeria when he'd made enough money. The "enough money" part i never really understood.

We kept in touch as he always sought my advice and I was always looking for a way out for him then all of a sudden he stopped calling. 2 yrs went by and i never heard from him.

So i decided to visit his sister at computer village when i visited. She told me he was dead stating that she received a phone call saying he died from drugs he had swallowed to transport to the buyers.

I never believed the story but I wept profusely. He always told me stories of how libyan forces were raiding apartments and killing Nigerians, plus how they were being trafficked by libyans for other treacherous reasons. He once told me of how he saw his friend get shot dead before him while they were on the run.

I concluded he must have been shot or butchered for this was the faith of Nigerians shortly after Gaddafi was killed and libya was destroyed. 2 yrs after gaddafi's fall was when my relative was situated in libya.

His family never saw the body hence they never gave him a burial. He was the only son.

So I say to you, think about the ones that love you and look up to you before you make any life-threatening decision; for they are okay now but if you die, how many can bear the loss and how many will suffer as a result of your actions.

Its been 6 yrs now and I still mourn him. His demise will always serve as a lesson to all that knew him
life is tough for some of us that we don't mind going through the desert route to Europe..I been a graduate since 2014 of political science second class upper division.. but life has been tough that it's just despair rather than hope... I am confused on what to do honestly

I had a similar experience. My sojourn was through the Sahara to Libya. We trekked for three good days before setting foot on an inhabited land called Ghat, in the mountainous region of Libya. It was a terrible experience, and I had just become 15!

I have vowed to share my story with the world at the right time. Against the backdrop of my experiences and pain, I acquired burning aspirations that motivated me to develop myself to the extent of obtaining both bachelor and master degrees from some of the best institutions in the world, and I even made a first class in the process.

It doesn’t really matter how your story begins. What truly matters is what you make of all the pains, hardship, opportunities, and the experiences.
do u still encourage anyone to take the route of going to Europe through the deserts...

If you really love her a much as you say you do , do not let her go there ,my aunt got married at the age of 20 when I was still a child , she moved into her husband's family home and became their maid as the youngest family member ,

Even the children had freedom , for her it was always " where are you going? " , "What are you doing ?" " By this afternoon you're sleeping" not her husband oh , his people were the ones interrogating her and sending her on errands thy couldn't send the children , it didn't end well for her , the man travelled after like two years and married another person in Canada and hasn't returned since , noone told her but she continued to be their maid until our family found out and went to carry her because if it was only her she would have waited for him to come back and 18 years has ed , he still hasn't returned, just sends money to his family

I don't know what the man has promised your niece but you really need to convince her , because by the time she regrets it she won't have face to come back , it's better you do it now that she's with you .
Marriage is not first to do oh , both of them are still young , if she's being stubborn like that please confirm that she's not already pregnant because that's the only thing in my head right now , I'm also turning 21 by June I don't know what will make me want to go from my parents house to my husband's parents house , in fact I want to live alone even if it's just a year before I will consider marriage

It's a big red flag that at the age of 30 he is very okay with living in his family house
Even my dad managed to marry my mom in a very small one bedroom apartment , it wasn't much but no extra family drama , I sleep for parlor my parents sleep in the bedroom , my aunty slept in the kitchen corridor and there was peace

all families aren't the same... Besides some people love to live in large compounds
