INEC profs and SANs have destroyed the reputation of Nigerian profs/ SANs.
Gone are the days when profs and SANs were respected
Because the school system is fading out cool the world has advanced to the information age and I don't think that all this Prof and SAN will be relevant in 20-50 yrs time

Some nigerians can boast of beautiful CVs like our prof congrats in the first place, but, attitude towards nation building worst,Prof. i believe you won't award contracts to your Hitech con(pro)struction companies because VCs in public institutions are best at awards of contracts that would have been handled by students to boost their industrial experiences.Congrats

The University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benin City, Edo State, has named Professor Edoba Bright Omorogie, SAN as its new Vice-Chancellor.

He emerged on Friday after the weeks-long rigorous process which saw several professors contest the plum position, CAMPUS GIST reports.

Omoregie is a Professor of Comparative Constitutional Law and Legislative Governance. He is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN). He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992. He received his legal education at the University of Benin (UNIBEN) and at the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, Lagos.

He has been a lecturer in the Faculty of Law, University of Benin since January 1998 till date. Professor Omoregie possesses PhD in Comparative Constitutional Law, specializing in Federalism and Governance. He has taught Legislative Drafting and Process, Legislative Studies and Electoral Legal and Regulatory Framework for over 10 years at the postgraduate level in the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) under the UNIBEN/NILDS Postgraduate Programmes.

Professor Omoregie is the Ag. Director of the Department of Legislative Services in the Institute on National Assignment (leave of absence) from the University of Benin. He has occupied the position since October, 2019.

His publications have appeared in numerous academics platforms both in and outside Nigeria. He is a member of the International Bar Association, Commonwealth Association of Legislative Counsel, the International Association of Legislation and the Federal Union, among several other international academic bodies.

He is widely travelled and happily married with children.

The new Vice Chancellor will take over from the outgoing VC, Professor Lilian Salami, whose five-year tenure comes to an end on December 2nd, 2024, reports CAMPUS GIST

I a day in 2012. I was in Crime Office at Main Gate, Uniben, completing my mandatory security clearance just after my final year exams. The SUG elections were also billed to take place during this period. Suddenly, There was a large commotion outside of the building and about 4 guys were bundled in by the security officials, followed by a woman who looked like an istrative staff. The guys I learned were students of Uniben who wanted to contest for various positions in the SUG executive branch but the Dean of Students Office refused to clear them. Without that clearance, they couldn't stand for election as they would be illegitimate candidates. The woman who followed them in was the Secretary to the Dean. The problem was that, suspiciously, only candidates of Benin origin were being cleared, other non Benin candidates were denied clearances. The reason the guys were brought in was because they, along with their ers, had gone to the Dean of Students office to demand an explanation. When a satisfactory one wasn't forthcoming, the boys began protesting the 'injustice'. The security men were called in and they rounded up the leaders ( in this case, the candidates) and hauled them to Crime Office. While the crime officials were questioning the boys, the secretary made a curious statement. She told the boys point blank, "Can a non-Yoruba person win an SUG election in Unilag?" I was shocked. Throughout my time in Uniben, the school had always championed meritocracy in appointing people to leadership roles yet now they had decided to play the ethnic card. I was happy that I would not be there to experience that with them. Sure enough the next VC just happened to be an Edo man ... smiley smiley smiley

That's a Bini man. For as long as it's based on merit, it is good for the school. Congratulations to the new VC
The same people who never allow other tribe to lecture in their university are the ones complaining about a Benin man as the VC of university of Benin.

I heard Salami shut down June 12. That was literally the heart of the school especially during nighttime.

For that alone, fûck her. Anyone will probably be better than her.

Also one of the first things she did was to meet with EFCC for useless PR about how she's going to end interne fraud in the school. Nothing about the lecturers who collect mojey for grades, some even forcefully. Or even lectures who request sex for grades.

Absolutely nothing was done in the regard. Instead na students wey dey do crimes (i don't endorse fraud by the way) outside the confines of the school wall na be her main focus.

Did I also mention the destruction of June 12?
very useless feminist.
Person wey turn hall 3 to girls hostel?
The fun we had that year for Aaro block that year.
That's why I hate anything feminists.
