I guess it's because growing up, the use of those equipments were not common to everyone then. Even now self, cus those equipments ( especially the machine powered ones) are still not that common due to price tag.

I have never used a single one and I've had no injuries in the kitchen. You become a pro over time. I haven't cut myself chopping vegetables since I was a child. If you need it, then use it, but if not; don't!
