It's normal for a player of Osimhen's pedigree to generate speculation.

That said I believe Victor is a smart young man who will make the best decision for his career.

If Saudi are the only serious suitors in of money then I would rather he stay with Gala.

Are you Tosin's confidant to know if anyone has approached him to play for Nigeria? Iwobi has also said he spoke to him the decision is up to Tosin when he's ready. Bassey is at worst the same level as Tosin. Again I repeat Adarabioyo doesn't bring anything dramatically special to upgrade the backline. Nice to have but not must have.

If Tella was an upgrade on Chukwueze I would be the first to call for his inclusion but he's not. Nathan is not a regular starter at Leverkusen plus how many assists does he have from crosses that you dubbed him 'far better' than Samuel?

Chukwueze's problem is consistency. Once that is sorted his game will go up a level. He has shown in club and national team football to be devastating when on his game.

komekn:

Tell me one CB better than him Tosin in the SE , a non committal answer is exactly that. Nigeria has notsfr an official quest to get him and neither has England. All he can do is wait for who will come knocking first. And it's not etiquette for players to beg to be selected you get invited you do not invite yourself.

I really really liked Etebo expected him to destroy the Championship šŸ† but it destroyed him it seems. After his exploits in the world cup had great expectations.

Tella has not a enough games to judge him he is a far better crosser of the ball than Chukwueze who can't cross a ball to save his Life.

Very spot on observation doc. Onyeka brings that needed grit and energy when there's a threat especially of our midfield getting overwhelmed. That said Frank's lack of technical ability can be a hindrance especially when he gets into good scoring positions.

Ndidi has lost that ginger and even though he's better on the ball it's not by much. Wilfred's recent rigidity and slight lack of pace makes it too easy for opponents to by him. If he only had Onyeka's strength and physical presence.

TheSuperNerd:
I agree Ndidi is better on the ball than Onyeka but credits to Onyeka pls... you saw the ing sequence that led to Fisayo being one on one with Safonov in the Russian goal. Who was the architect of that ing sequence that created that chance? It was Frank Onyeka.

I had to find the highlight of that chance to see it again... Firstly Onyeka brilliantly intercepted a Russia throw-in on the Naija right wing which fell to FDB.... FDB touched it to Onyeka and sped off... Onyeka drove forward, took out 2 challenges in sweet quick take ons and laid the to Boniface who found the still running FDB who was now one on one with Safonov.

We missed that big chance but that chance had Onyeka written all over it. He created that chance single handedly with his industry and BTL-style vertical plays.

Ndidi may be better on the ball but Onyeka has better drive vertically and contributes better to offensive transitions than Ndidi.

Tosin hasn't given us the green light yet and before you go off on your favorite punching bag the NFF, He was asked pointedly by a Nigerian journalist after the Europa Conference League Final of his availability for the SE and he gave a none committal answer. Besides having watched him throughout the season he doesn't look like a vast step up in quality to what we currently have however his addition will be welcome if he wants to the setup.

Iroegbunam and Chukwuemeka are prospects but both can't be realistically ready for September which is the basis of the suggested list for the qualification games coming up. Additionally both players as talented as they are haven't shown distinct quality that they will upgrade our current setup in the short term.

Tella featured in the Unity Cup. He's ok but not the wow. Not an what we currently have.

Etebo has not really in the conversation for the past 4-5 years surprised you're bringing his name up. Last I heard was playing in some very low level league plus diminishing returns has entered into his game seriously. No more the player that was solid during the 2017-19 period for the SE.

Chukwueze looks to be picking up under Chelle. The ability is there just needs to build consistency.

komekn:

First of all the basis of national team selection has to be outstanding consistent performance in league and club, EOD.

Chukwueze has had too many caps and not done much in my opinion and should not be there.

Olakunle has no basis to be there. Ndidi looks expired and hard working Frank doesn't offer any attacking threat.

I would have liked to see more effort to get a really top level CB like Tosin and there should have been more efforts to get midfielders Tim Iroegbunam and Carney Chukwuemaka.

Tolu looks very mobile and athletic for such a tall striker is he really 6"6ā“ liked the composure and quality he used to score.

Igoh, Benjamin and Agu have not by club form justified inclusion, how many games has Benjamin played for Brentford ā“

What happened to Tella he has not had a run of games to make a claim, how could olakunle get in but not Tella.

Finally, Etebo is only 29 why don't we hear from him again did he upset somebody in the NFF.

Barring any injuries and with all we've seen so far in this unity cup and friendly, what will be your final squad for the must win fixtures against South Africa and Rwanda come September?

Fair result. Both teams didn't exactly play great football so a draw is just about right.

Okoye looking like a proper international goalkeeper but please no balls to his feet. He just not comfortable. In all won't be having heart palpitations if Stanley is unavailable for whatever reasons. Okoye looks calm and composed.

Boniface honestly until till further notice make he just focus on him club career.

Tolu is growing on me love his directness and fight. Good value for his goal.

Midfield need plenty work men. Unmanned spaces like Nigerian northern border.

Defense has to deploy the right personnel going forward. No room for sentiments.

Few negatives but plenty positives.

We move!

Under par first half with few chances of note from our end.

Right side of defense again leading to a goal. Tactical team need to seriously look at that part of the back line.

Dele has been our best player unlucky not to be on the score sheet.

M. Simon has been underwhelming to say the least. If he doesn't improve in the second half then let's see what the Russian based guy can do.

Boniface again has been largely anonymous other than the cutback for Dele to run at goal.

Hopefully a much improved second half from the lads.

That formation I'm sure was formulated to help us cope against bigger teams. When JP saw how well it worked against CIV that's probably what made him stick to it throughout the tournament.

Unfortunately he didn't make himself flexible enough to tweak things incase we got figured out which happened against SA and CIV part 2 in the finals.

Samueltemi337:

Nah
I won't agree peseiro changed our formation because of Ekong
Ekong didn't even play the world cup qualifiers matches prior to the Afcon
And those were the matches that made peseiro come up with a 3 man defense
Because defensively we were poor in those matches
And it was Ajayi and Bassey who Partnered in defense

7 goals in 4 games none of which were penalties is a good stat.

Defense like you rightly noted is an issue. Conceding 4 goals in 4 games though not horrible can be damaging.

charlesemeka85:
Chelle’s team score goals but the big issue is that they concede a lot too just like Siasia’s

He should learn to balance the team to avoid conceding much goals

Nice interview comes across as very ionate man.

Four matches in I love the fact that under him we're creating loads of chances. Infact if we had been a bit better in our conversion rate maybe we won't work have been lamenting about the Zimbabwe draw.

The conundrum of integrating some of that AFCON JP defensive frugality into our current expansive play is the issue now but I'm optimistic we will get there.

Mark my words this team will cook in AFCON God willing.

I'm looking at the line up from a most capable perspective and not at the sentimental angle.

Ndidi has not shown anything we're desperately missing lately. I mean we got to the last AFCON final without him so his presence in the team with all due respect to Wilfred is overrated.

elyte89:

Any line up wout ndidi is dead on arrival..by now u shld av studied some coaches when newly appointed and Dey execute deir first three matches ,u shld knw Dey av some favorites …ndidi is one of dem ..if fit he will play ,even Moses Simon,he likes d guy too ,

Nwabali

Aina Ekong/Igoh Bassey Agu

Onyeka Chrisantus

Lookman Iwobi M.Simon

Osimhen

What do you guys think?

Well said Doc!

What will stand Osimhen out for future generations of fans is his legacy that will mostly be achieved in European football.

Saudi though lucrative won't be challenging for him especially at this stage of his career.

I pray a top club that has sense like Galatasaray will give Victor the platform he richly deserves.

TheSuperNerd:
I hope you know the same fans who the Saudi Move wont be able to also properly back him when years from now, we talk about Africa's finest strikers ever.

Eto'o, Weah, Drogba earned their stripes and legacies that still stand strong today in the best leagues in the world which is in Europe.

The standards have not changed and wont change for Osimhen. I love him. I always have even before the twitter influencers/banger boys took over his attention space but I wont stand by and watch him miss out on a chance to shoot above these greats or even level with them and stand in their league.

Money is good. Mathieu Flamini has it all when it comes to money but his football legacy is no bigger than Okocha's. Look at Okocha still reverred even on a UCL night where his former club PSG conquered europe. A good name/legacy in your sport/field is still worth so much more. The Good Book isnt wrong on that at all.

Usually the Liverpool front 3 line up is Salah on the right, Diaz on the left with Nunez or Gakpo up top.

Samueltemi337:

Is Gakpo a striker?
If they don't need him why are they interested in him?
chrisooblog: 3:44pm On Jun 03
He fits into their pressing style but not sure if the Reds necessarily need him with Gakpo finding his form.

Love your list would probably remove Osayi for another CB Ajayi, Igoh, or Osho

Midfield is perfect for now until better talents emerge.

The two additions in attack for me would be between Tolu, Awoniyi, Iheanacho(if he regains form), Moffi(hopefully regains full form after his terrible injury), and maybe Boniface.

Sadiqali24:
I wish I can have this players at a time in one super eagles call-up

Defenders
Troost Ekong
Calvin
Benjamin Fredrick
Felix Agu
Aina
Bruno
Osayi

Midfilders
Chrisantus uche
Fisayo bashiru
Onyedika
Iwobi
Onyeka
Ndidi

Attackers
Lookman
Simon
Desserts
Osimhen
Chekweze

That's 18 players. I still have two spaces of an attacker and a midfilders.

Overall good friendly games that should give Chelle an idea of how to balance. His team will create chances that's very clear unfortunately midfield is too sparse and defense too shaky that we will surely concede.

But men Ndidi cry otilor I saw one Jamaican midfielder turn him neat water comot for my eye.

Desser should definitely for now deputize Osimhen or be his partner if going two up top.

Happy with Benjamin Fredricks introduction first of many caps God willing.

Sodiq good going forward but very raw defensively. Needs plenty work.

Agu looks decent.

Tolu's full of energy and has decent link up play however I don't think he's better than Moffi, Awoniyi or Boniface when they're in form but the 3-4th striker positions are definitely open.

Again overall good work out to prepare us for September and the AFCON.

Goodjoe in your hearts of hearts you know would have been giving all us a month long series of Ted Talks about the superior managerial ability of Amuneke if he had done well with Heartland. It's ok to like the man but it won't be beneficial to his coaching career if you keep making excuses for him.

Like Kog45 rightly said the Ikorodu United coach worked wonders without any funfair those are the kind of tacticians that need encouragement and .

TheGoodJoe:

Funny. There is a big difference in achieving immediate results and building a lasting legacy. No one made any excuse here. I wonder where excuses came from. I said, relegation does not make the system wrong. The point is so simple.

By the way, Heartland FC did not buy Beyond the Limit's slot but Beyond the Limit dropped due to dual ownership. Same owner of Remo Stars.

I think it's too late. Apart from incumbency PBAT has a lot of crucial zones in his corner. SS with all the governors on his side will most like gravitate towards him. The islamize agenda has largely dissipated. SE he will still lose but not too badly. SW will be Emilokan on steroids come 2027. NC still on lockdown with Plateau and Nassarawa likely still against Northern Fulani so might go for PBAT. NW/NE he will lose but I don't think it will be a drubbing.

All these are probability because politics is so fluid and who can guarantee that they will even be alive then?
