This 2025 budget is just ridiculous..No day es without new sad discovery..

No wonder Akpabio and the rest are singing for and endorsing BAT everyday..The insertions in this budget is over the rooftop..

The 2025 budget is a mess .

I have been seeing excerpt of it posted on Twitter showing Ministry of Agriculture training Hairdressers with N100m, Ministry of foreign affairs getting allocation running into hundreds of millions for IDP camps, and various other ministries getting hundreds of millions for streetlights when their ministry has absolutely nothing to do with urban or rural electrification.

The fact that the minister of budget appointed by the master strategist is Atiku Bagudu (Abacha's bag man) tells u what u need to know that these things are not innocent mistakes but deliberate efforts at plundering and laundering as much funds as they could lay their hands on.

@ Afrodoc2, a question if I may please

Is a sudden memory loss and confusion reversible for someone in their mid seventies. As in the person was sharp as a button yesterday and by today the person has memory loss, mixing names and yarning opaks (confusion)

It depends on what caused it.

1) If it is due to a cerebrovascular accident (stroke), which is most likely, then usually the best that can be hoped for is mild to moderate improvement. There is a saying we had when i worked in emergency medicine, "time is brain", which means every minute that es without treatment during a stroke, results in loss of brain cells which could be irreversible.

The more severe the initial hypoxic damage and the longer the period of the insult, the greater the likelihood of irreversible damage. There is still a possibility of a slight improvement but one can't bank on that. Most of the focus of future treatment is addressing the risk factors for the stroke in the first place and preventing future strokes.

2) If it is due to other causes like infections, electrolyte imbalances, medications, then those can be corrected with greater possibility of full recovery.

Can a stroke happen unnoticed as in without symptoms maybe a convulsion, a fall or loss of consciousness

100%.

It can even happen with no obvious symptom. No even the confusion that Ibime mentioned. I have seen loads of patients who have come complaining of their memory or cognition going too rapidly than expected and when we do an MRI, we find out they have had a series of silent strokes, each time losing a chunk of brain cells. Over time the cumulative effect is a progressive cognitive decline.

It can also happen whereby rather than a series of small strokes, it is just a single big stroke which causes the decline. The way a stroke behaves depends on which part of the brain is having the stroke. If it is just the part supplying the right arm, it would be the part to be affected. If it is just the part responsible for speech, that is what will be affected.

Loss of consciousness usually happens only in the most severe of strokes. It is actually not that common for stroke in my experience. The most critical causes of loss of consciousness that one would commonly come across are often in the heart not the brain.

Thanks Boss. CT and XRay have come back clear. We are just waiting on Carotid artery MRI and Vitamin B12 test to know how far. Hoping it's Vitamin B12 deficiency so there will be hope of recovery. Na my Pale, the nigga was complaining of massive headache on Friday claiming some blood is trying to force it's way through some ventricles in his brain, by Saturday he's lost half his memory and calling us to come and witness his will and last wishes that he is going, so we itted him to hospital. The guy want die before his mother, selfish fellow

Oh dear, sorry to hear that.

Brain MRI, Carotid Doppler Ultrasound, and Echocardiogram could be helpful. As well as the other baseline blood tests.

I hope he makes a good recovery.

P.S

Was he hypertensive?
