“Such a person is not to be trusted and we now see why Nyesom Wike clearly said that Amaechi has no capacity.

Wonderful, so they can come back to reverence Wike?. Indeed, what God cannot do does not exist.

Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has come hard on former minister, Rotimi Amaechi over his recent comment that his earlier claim of being Igbo was all politics.

Amaechi while speaking before a crowd of ers at the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign in Aba, Abia State in 2015, said: I am a bonafide Igbo man.

[b]“My name is Amaechi but President Jonathan, who says his name is Azikiwe, cannot speak the Igbo language.”

But, the former Rivers State governor in an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time earlier in the week, said he is an Ikwerre man from Rivers State, adding that he associated himself with the Igbo people to make Nigerians address the cries of marginalisation by the Southeast.

Reacting, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike slammed Amaechi for exhibiting what he called “a shameless and treacherous character.”

Okwu, in a statement made available to journalists on Friday, said it was regrettable that someone who now parades as a lover of Nigerians and an advocate of the masses could come out to display a public show of shame.

“We were shocked to the marrow to listen to Rotimi Amaechi make such a U-turn on national television.

“This is the same man who accused former President Goodluck Jonathan of not being an Igbo man, simply because he (Amaechi) needed the votes of Ndigbo for his party, the APC in 2015.

“Fast forward to 2025, the same man, 10 years later, has now told Nigerians that he lied to them.

“What this clearly shows is that Amaechi is a man who can do anything for politics; who can say anything just to get what he wants politically.

“How can we explain the fact that someone who personally declared that he is an Igbo man 10 years ago, now shamelessly tells the whole world that he did that all for politics.

“What this clearly shows is that he is in the league of politicians who have no character, who believe that all is fair in politics,” Okwu stated.

He then urged Nigerians and all those who are identifying with the coalition ahead of the 2027 election “to beware of a man who says something in the morning and upturns it in the evening.

“Particularly, we advise Mr Peter Obi to be wary of such a man. He should not be seen to be associating with a man who is making a caricature of Ndigbo.

“Such a person is not to be trusted and we now see why Nyesom Wike clearly said that Amaechi has no capacity.

“How can such a man have capacity when he is living a life of treachery, when he is telling lies to get what he wants.

“However we want to make it clear to Amaechi and his likes that Ndigbo are not looking for people like him. We know genuine Igbo men and women when we see them, and we have a handful of them,” Okwu declared.

Okwu warned that Ndigbo would never be taken for granted by anyone stressing that

“we are waiting for Amaechi in 2027 when he will come to any state in the South-East to open his lies-filled mouth. He will hear from us at the appropriate time, because we know he shall surely need Ndigbo again.

“We have had enough from people like him and we say never again.”

Lol.. Lere Olayinka is a kryptonite of those political presenters at Arisetv. Soon when they hear his name as a guest on the show, they will run away.
To be honest, Wike had been of tremendous help to so many people just like Tinubu. We never knew that he had helped people like Gov Bala Muhammed, Ikenga Ugochinyere, Reuben Abati & the likes who are now turning against him. But of course, we knew about Fubara, Amaechi, Odili and the likes in Rivers State whom he had also helped in the past. However, the difference is that Tinubu , despite all the betrayal, never fought dirty in public. We can then agree that people are wired differently to react in different ways.

Keep asking ignorant question.. if this news was not brought here, would you know there is a big project like this in Nigeria?, If you like thank Trump, without Tinubu's approval and commitments to foreign investors, it would not have happened. The President has repeatedly said he was reforming all sectors to break operational bottlenecks to ease businesses for investors both local and foreign.

Sit down there, let bitter people be lying to you that investors are not coming to Nigeria. We have investors in Lithium, steel, livestock, we now have the largest medical center in west African. An empty barrel makes the loudest noise, keep making noise on social media, hating on your country. Tinubu is not a noise maker, he is a doer. Baba is working all round, making things happen.

A major milestone in the advancement of healthcare in Nigeria and West Africa was achieved today as the largest specialized private hospital in the region, the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE), was officially commissioned in Abuja.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, presided over the commissioning of the world-class medical facility, describing the project as a monument to African resilience and innovation, and a bold step toward Nigeria’s emergence as a global healthcare hub.

This is just as the country has secured over $2.2 billion in health sector commitments through the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative, launched by the Tinubu istration in December 2023.

The initiative, which is already underway, aims to renovate over 17,000 primary health centres, train 120,000 frontline health workers, and double national health insurance coverage within three years.

Healthcare Reform: A refusal to accept medical vulnerability

Speaking during the commissioning ceremony of the AMCE, President Tinubu, who was represented by his deputy, Vice President Kashim Shettima, noted that it is not just about unveiling a structure of steel and bricks, but also unveiling Nigeria’s “ collective refusal to accept medical vulnerability as destiny.”

The President narrated reforms and investments made since he took office two years ago, including the g of an Executive Order to unlock the healthcare value chain and the launch of the Presidential Initiative to Unlock the Healthcare Value Chain (PVAC).

He said these policies have intensified local pharmaceutical production, improved regulatory systems, and expanded access to diagnostics.

“But our efforts did not end there. In December 2023, we launched the Nigeria Health Sector Renewal Investment Initiative.

“This initiative secured over $2.2 billion in health sector commitments, with clear, measurable targets: to renovate over 17,000 primary health centres, train 120,000 frontline health workers, and double health insurance coverage within three years. These are not aspirations, these are milestones already in motion,” the President explained.

AMCE to lead in research, training, and advanced treatment

The President noted that AMCE, a state-of-the-art facility developed by the African Export-Import Bank in partnership with King’s College Hospital, London, will serve as a leading centre for advanced treatment, medical training, and research.
The facility, according to him, hosts the largest stem cell laboratory in West Africa and will expand to include a teaching hospital, nursing school, and residential quarters for medical personnel.
Paying tribute to Afreximbank President Prof. Benedict Oramah, President Tinubu said, “I must pay tribute to Afreximbank and its visionary President, Professor Benedict Oramah, for seeing what many dared not dream. This is what becomes possible when institutions rise to African challenges with African solutions.”

Infrastructure investment key to healthcare delivery

He also highlighted the importance of infrastructure investment through the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund.

“A world-class hospital cannot function on a dirt road, and no MRI machine works without stable electricity. We are investing in the roads, power, and connectivity that breathe life into health facilities,” Tinubu said.

“With your planned Medical and Nursing School on this campus, and with partners ranging from King’s College London to the University of Wisconsin, you are laying the foundation for a new generation of African medical specialists—specialists who will no longer be exported but empowered at home.”

He assured continued government , calling the project a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future. “This is not just a place to treat the sick—it is a place to train for the future,” he added.

Finance Minister: Private sector mobilized $400m for AMCE

Also speaking, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr. Wale Edun, said that with the establishment of the Afreximbank African Medical Centre of Excellence, Nigeria is today healthier and wealthier than before.

He pointed out that if figures were to be displayed, the edifice would cost not less than $400 million mobilized by the private sector.

He said this type of establishment could not come at a better time than this for Africa to have a hospital that can handle different medical associations on the continent, adding, “ The hospital is a marvel of science and modernity of facility.”

Oramah: Personal experience sparked vision for AMCE

Earlier in his remarks, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of African Export-Import Bank, Prof. Benedict Orama, said the event was a testimony that “society is better-off serving lives that burying its death and that it’s a living person that can contribute to the development and social transformation.”

Recalling his ordeal as a sick person itted at the King’s College Hospital in London, he stated that the only way he could appreciate the Almighty God, the Afreximbank colleagues and those who saved his life was to contribute to creating quality healthcare infrastructure and services.

Oramah said his contribution to Africa included helping Afreximbank implement its structured and well-documented strategy for medical care delivery.

Drawing on his personal experience with illness, as well as collaborations with Star Alliance and King’s College Hospital in London.

He noted that the African Medical Centre of Excellence in Abuja was established not only to provide top-tier healthcare but also to drive transformation in the continent’s health sector.

The deputy governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2023 election in Ogun State, Adekunle Akinlade, on Tuesday, announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

This is coming barely a week after he resigned his hip from the main opposition party, PDP.

Akinlade, aka Triple A, in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, last week Monday, explained that he left PDP following a “persistent and unresolved internal crises” within the state chapter of the PDP.

The former House of Representatives member and the governorship candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM) during the 2019 election had left the APC in the build up to the 2023 election.

Akinlade was granted a waiver when he ed PDP and ran as the Deputy Governorship Candidate to the party’s Ladi Adebutu who lost to Governor Dapo Abiodun of APC.

Speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta on Tuesday, Akinlade announced that he’s ing the APC alongside his loyalists from the PDP.

He said the decision was taken unanimously after a meeting held on Tuesday with the agreement to align with Governor Dapo Abiodun as the leader of the party.

Akinlade said PDP’s crisis has gone beyond redemption.

He said “The whole APM family that went to PDP with me, we have all decided that we are going back to APC and by tonight or tomorrow we will try to meet with the Governor and once we have met with the Governor, we will tell him about the decision we have made today that we are back home.

“We believe that the family will have an open hand to accommodate us back into the fold. Governor Dapo Abiodun is the leader of the party, we are going to align with that leadership. Aremo Olusegun Osoba is the father of party, we will align with that.

“So, we will align with the party fully and whoever is a member of the party who falls into that leadership, we will work with that person.”

Speaking on the planned coalition by major political figures, he described those behind the move as group of vindictive and ambitious politicians who have nothing to offer Nigeria.

He said many of the proponents of coalition are former governors, ministers and government officials who hungry for powers and financial privileges they enjoyed while in government.

Nigerian forces have neutralised at least 45 armed bandits near Kuchi town in Munya Local Government Area of Niger State following a coordinated security operation.

Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert and security analyst in the Lake Chad region, made this known in a post on his X on Wednesday.

According to the report, Makama disclosed that the operation was tly executed by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) and military tactical units in the early hours of Monday.

Makama stated that the bandits were believed to be loyal to notorious terrorist Dogo Gide, adding that the terrorists were en route to launch coordinated attacks on communities around Kuchi before they were intercepted.

“The insurgents, estimated to be over 100 in number, had mobilised from Bilbis Forest in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara and other hideouts in Kaduna State,” Makama said, citing a source who requested anonymity.

He added that the security forces engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle at the outskirts of Kuchi, resulting in the elimination of no fewer than 45 of the assailants, with several others escaping with gunshot wounds.

The operation also led to the recovery of multiple motorcycles, arms, and ammunition.

However, five DSS operatives sustained injuries during the exchange and are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed medical facility.

A human rights organisation, the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law (Intersociety), has raised the alarm that 950 locations, especially forests, across the South-East communities are under the occupation of bandits and destructive herdsmen.

According to Intersociety, the criminals operate from these locations to kidnap, kill and maim people.

The group claimed that its research and investigation indicate that 950 locations are spread in over 800 communities in the region, saying that about 40 per cent of the entire 1,940 communities in the zone are gravely under bandits and herdsmen threats.

The Chairman of Intersociety, Emeka Umeagbalasi, who released the report, blamed the South-East governors for not properly policing their states, accusing them of aiding the herdsmen to acquire land.

“By our research and investigative, the region is currently dotted with 1,940 Igbo communities, involving Abia State 771, Imo 700, Enugu 190, Anambra State 183 and Ebonyi State 96, all compressed in 29,525 square kilometres of landmass, approximately three times lower than the landmass of Niger State, a North Central zone, which has a land mass of 76,363 square kilometres.

“Some of them came to occupy the areas through the involvement and conspiracy of community leaders and state governments that issued them with a certificate of occupancy with the alleged promises of ‘electoral victory and post-election court victory’.

“It is also our finding that all the governors in the zone are involved in the conspiracy, aiding them to have access to the land.

“This is widely believed to be the reason they don’t speak out or rise in strong condemnation of the genocidal jihadist activities of the Fulani herdsmen and others in the region.

“They have also bluntly refused and failed to act or act as Chief Security Officers of their respective states.

“It is not as if the South-East governors are not aware of the inherent grave dangers in leasing and mortgaging the territory to them; they are fully aware and also not blind to the goings-on in places like Benue, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, and other areas.”
