Unity Through Forgiveness: MACBAN Deputy’s Eid al-Adha Appeal The National Deputy Director General of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) and Sarkin Fulani of Awka, Anambra State, Alhaji Gidado Siddiki, has called on Nigerians to embrace the deeper values of Eid al-Adha ,forgiveness, empathy, and selflessness as a means to foster national unity and sustainable development. In his Sallah message, Alhaji Siddiki urged citizens to let go of past grievances and painful memories, and instead choose reconciliation and peace as a national ethos. "Two wrongs can never make a right," he said, emphasizing that peace and sustainable coexistence are only achievable through mutual understanding and the courage to forgive. Full Statement reads:“As Muslims across the world commemorate Eid al-Adha—a sacred festival honoring the profound faith of Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and God’s merciful intervention—I extend heartfelt greetings to all Nigerians, especially of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN).This holy occasion, grounded in sacrifice, obedience, and devotion, offers a time for spiritual reflection and moral recommitment. I call on all Nigerians to internalize the deeper meaning of Eid al-Adha: forgiveness, empathy, and selflessness. Let us cast aside the burdens of past grievances and choose the path of reconciliation and national unity. Two wrongs can never make a right; lasting peace and coexistence demand mutual respect and the will to forgive.I particularly urge our in the South East to continue nurturing peaceful and respectful relationships with their host communities. Avoid any actions that could threaten the harmony we have worked so hard to build over the years.I encourage all pastoralists to report any challenges, grievances, or traumatic incidents to their local leadership. Our leaders are best positioned to escalate such matters to the appropriate authorities to seek redress through lawful and civil channels. Taking the law into one’s own hands is never justified. Due process and constructive dialogue remain our most reliable tools for achieving justice and lasting peace.Furthermore, I strongly reject the prevailing narrative that unfairly associates pastoralists with criminal activity. This stereotype is both unjust and dangerous. Criminality knows no ethnic, religious, or professional boundaries. We must resist all forms of stigmatization and uphold the principle that justice must be individual, not collective.I call upon all tiers of government—federal, state, and local—to fulfill their constitutional responsibilities by protecting the lives and property of all citizens, including those in pastoral communities. Security, inclusivity, and equal protection under the law must be guaranteed for every Nigerian, without exception. To our in Anambra State, I strongly encourage you to obtain and protect your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the November 2025 elections. Civic participation is vital in electing leaders who understand and are committed to defending our rights and interests.Lastly, I extend my sincere appreciation to the governments and people of the South East for their continued hospitality, and for enabling our to conduct their legitimate cattle breeding and trade peacefully across the region.I urge the government to actively promote inclusivity in governance and national development. Every community—regardless of ethnicity, region, or profession—deserves fair and equitable access to the dividends of democracy.”

Correspondents Sever Ties with NUJ Following Chairman’s Impunity The Correspondent Chapel of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Anambra State has officially distanced itself from the Dr. Emeka Odogwu-led executive in the state, stating that it can no longer tolerate the chairman’s impudent rascality. Following its June general meeting, the union issued a communique signed by David Eleke (Chairman), Nwanosike Onu (Member), Tony Okafor (Member), Obinna Unaeze (Member), and Emma Elekwa (Secretary), declaring that it would no longer tolerate Odogwu’s impunity in undermining the chapel in the state. The chapel explained that this dissociation was necessary to protect the union from the draconian, inhumane, and threat-laden environment prevailing within the Anambra State Council of the union, which has made it impossible for them to function effectively and safely. The full communique reads as follows:"Endorsement of Leadership: The Anambra State Correspondents' Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists hereby unanimously endorses the leadership of Chief Chuks Ilozue and the other of his Executive Committee (EXCO),Dissociation from Anambra State Council: Due to the high-handedness, threats to life, and other unwholesome behaviors exhibited by Emeka Odogwu, Chairman of the Anambra Council, the leadership and of the Anambra State Correspondents' Chapel have collectively decided to disassociate themselves from the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, effective immediately,Redirection of Obedience and Loyalty: From this point forward, our obedience and loyalty will be directed to the national body of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, pending the cleansing of the Anambra State Council under Odogwu and its restoration to a state of order and decorum,Payment of Union Dues: We pledge to pay all fees due to the Union directly to the national body within a reasonable period, as practicable,Rationale for Dissociation: This decision was necessitated by the need to protect ourselves from the draconian, inhumane, and threat-infested environment prevailing within the Anambra State Council, which has made it impossible for us to operate effectively and safely, Clarification on the Bus Donated by the Anambra State Government: Regarding the bus donated to our chapel by the state government, which Odogwu is scheming to assign to Tochukwu Ifejika, his sister-in-law and Chairperson of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Anambra State Chapter, for the purpose of running her union we wish to clarify that the bus remains intact and available. Our have vehemently decided not to surrender the bus or any other property to Odogwu or anyone else for any reason. The bus will continue to be used solely for the purpose for which it was donated, enabling us collectively to attend government functions and other activities,Constitutional Rights: We note that Odogwu’s actions have left us no option but to invoke our constitutional rights, as enshrined in Section 40 (as amended) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, which guarantees the right to freedom of association and the choice to belong or not belong to any association,Peace Moves and Odogwu’s DSS Intervention: Previously, the Correspondents Chapel made genuine efforts to resolve this ime, including consulting relevant stakeholders. However, these attempts were thwarted and rebuffed by Odogwu, who unjustifiably involved the Department of State Services (DSS) against the chapel,Finally: We reiterate that associations, unions, and similar organizations are akin to matrimony; no one can be coerced into hip. This is our sincere position, and we stand firmly by it"

IPOB Lawyer Slams Wike's Media Showbiz, Urges Tinubu to Act Amid Soaring Poverty Human rights lawyer and legal counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein in the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over what he described as the reckless and wasteful expenditure of public funds on monthly media chats that yield no tangible benefit to Nigerians. In a statement issued on Monday, Ejiofor expressed grave concern over the reported allocation of hundreds of millions of naira each month to finance the FCT Minister’s media appearances, at a time when the majority of Nigerians are grappling with record inflation, stagnant wages, and deepening poverty. “It is profoundly disheartening, that in a country where millions of citizens struggle to survive on less than $2 a day ,with limited access to basic healthcare, education, and shelter the government permits such an ostentatious display of vanity. These so-called media engagements serve little purpose beyond political grandstanding and exemplify a gross misplacement of national priorities.”Ejiofor stated, He further condemned the practice as "the height of unconscionable governance," adding that the funds squandered on a single media edition could be redirected to urgent humanitarian needs across the country. “For instance, the cost of one month’s media spectacle could fund emergency relief and shelter for thousands displaced by recent floods in Niger State. It could refurbish dilapidated primary schools, equip rural health clinics, or sustain malnutrition programs in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps for several months,” Ejiofor argued. He noted that while the optics of such spending are troubling, the underlying implications are even more damaging to public trust and national development. “Nigerians are not asking for a televised circus. They are crying out for competent governance, responsible spending, and leadership that puts the people first,” he said. Ejiofor called on President Tinubu to take immediate and decisive action. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu must call the FCT Minister to order, end this wasteful media charade, and redirect national focus toward effective service delivery. This is not a time for flamboyance or fanfare. Nigeria is in a crisis that demands humility, ability, and an unwavering commitment to the common good. The Nigerian people deserve better. The time to act is now,” he added.

Nigerian Citizen Killed in Switzerland — Lawyer Seeks Justice Renowned Nigerian human rights lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has formally petitioned the Swiss government over the alleged extrajudicial killing of Mr. Michael Kenechukwu Ekemezie, a Nigerian citizen, by Swiss police officers in Lausanne. The incident, according to Ejiofor, bears striking similarities to the murder of George Floyd in the United States exactly five years earlier. In a statement titled "The Gruesome Extrajudicial Killing of Mr. Michael Kenechukwu Ekemezie by Swiss Police Officers in Lausanne, Switzerland," Ejiofor condemned the Swiss authorities for their inaction and expressed profound concern that the value of Black lives continues to be disregarded, especially when the victims are African nationals living abroad. Mr. Ekemezie, a native of Awka South of Anambra State in Nigeria, had lived and worked in Switzerland for over a decade. On May 25, 2025, he was allegedly subjected to lethal police brutality in an incident captured on video, which reportedly shows him handcuffed, pinned face-down, and visibly distressed, while a police officer applied excessive force that ultimately proved fatal. According to Ejiofor, the footage clearly shows that no effort was made to assist or resuscitate Michael, even as he lay motionless. His cries for help went unheard, and he was left to die in full view of those who were meant to protect life. “No attempt was made to save him. He was subjected to lethal force, and ignored in his most vulnerable moment, until he became lifeless,” Ejiofor said. In response, Ejiofor’s legal team has submitted petitions to both the Swiss Embassy in Nigeria and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), demanding a swift and transparent diplomatic intervention. In the petition ,he said that every Nigerian life whether at home or abroad must be treated with dignity and protected without compromise. The petition calls for the following urgent actions: A full, independent, and transparent investigation into the circumstances of Mr. Ekemezie’s death,Public disclosure of the identities and roles of all officers involved; The immediate suspension and arrest of the officers pending investigation. He aldo demanded for An official apology to and adequate compensation for Mr. Ekemezie’s family and concrete institutional reforms to prevent future abuse and ensure ability. Ejiofor’s statement further criticized the global and local media silence following the incident. Unlike the global outrage that followed the death of George Floyd in 2020, Mr. Ekemezie’s case has received little to no coverage from major international news outlets such as CNN, BBC, or Al Jazeera. Even within Nigeria, mainstream media coverage has been minimal. “This silence is not only unacceptable,it is alarming,” the statement read. “It suggests that the life of an African man can be taken without consequence or acknowledgment. We must resist this narrative.” In the wake of the incident, Nigerians and other African nationals in Switzerland have organized street protests, demanding ability and justice. However, Ejiofor notes that the Swiss authorities’ response has so far been lukewarm and insufficient, failing to meet the basic standards of transparency, urgency, and human rights compliance expected in such egregious cases. Following a formal briefing from the bereaved family, Ejiofor’s legal team initiated both diplomatic and legal proceedings, aimed at invoking international mechanisms for justice and human rights enforcement. The petition to the Swiss Embassy and other international actors reiterates that this case is not an isolated tragedy, but part of a larger pattern of racial injustice and disregard for African lives abroad. “This is not just about one man’s death—it is about the sanctity of human life, the universal right to justice, and the urgent need for global ability,” Ejiofor declared.“It is a clarion call to the Nigerian government to stand boldly in defense of its citizens. It is a plea to the Swiss government to rise to its human rights obligations. And it is a demand to the international community, human rights organizations, and media houses to break the silence and speak truth to power.” he stated. Ejiofor concluded the statement with a firm vow:“As we mourn the painful loss of Mr. Michael Kenechukwu Ekemezie, we remain unwavering in our pursuit of justice for him, for his grieving family, and for all victims of violence and silence. Justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done.”

My Tribute to the Fallen Great Biafran Heroes -IPOB Lawyer By Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor Today, the wind carries a solemn echo across our land. It whispers the names of heroes of fathers, mothers, sons, and daughters, Gallant Biafrans who stood when standing meant dying, Who fought when silence meant erasure. With bowed heads and hearts weighed down by memory, we you. Not merely as victims of a brutal war, But as the eternal torchbearers of our dignity, our freedom, and our collective identity. You faced down tanks with bare hands and bold hearts. You clung to hope when the world turned its back. You starved, bled, and died, Not for power or glory, But for the dream that your children might one day live ,in a land where justice reigns and truth stands unshaken. You were the mothers who clutched babies in bombed-out shelters, The boys who became men on battlefields, The sisters who whispered goodbye at makeshift trenches, The innocents whose only crime was being Biafran. We do not mourn you in vain. In your blood, a seed of resilience was planted. In your sacrifice, the soul of a nation still rises. We hear your silent cry: Never forget... never betray. And we won’t. Though the guns are silent, your war is not over. For every tear shed in remembrance is a vow. A vow that your sacrifice shall never be erased from the pages of history, nor from the hearts of those who still dare to dream Biafra. You did not fall, but you rose into eternity. Rest, gallant souls, beneath the sacred soil of our ancestors. Rest, even as we march onward, Bearing your legacy like a flame in the dark. Ozo emezina. The struggle continues. And you will never, ever be forgotten. #BiafranHeroes #WeBiafra #BiafraRemembranceDay #GallantFallen #BiafraLivesOn #30May2025 #NeverForget #BiafraStruggle #RestOnFallenHeroes #JusticeForBiafra #TheLandRe #InTheirHonor #BiafraWillRise #OurHistoryOurPride Sir Ifeanyi C. Anambra:NERC Orders EEDC to Refund 80-Year-Old Widow N475000 for Illegal Billing The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has ordered the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to refund the sum of N475,000 to an 80-year-old retired civil servant and widow in Anambra State. The refund relates to years of illegal and arbitrary billing, which the commission deemed unjustifiable. According to NERC, prior to the takeover of electricity distribution by EEDC from the defunct Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN), the woman had an outstanding balance of N72,000. The regulatory body directed EEDC to deduct this amount from the total accumulated debt of N547,000 and refund the balance to the affected consumer. The commission ordered EEDC not to disconnect the customer’s electricity supply based on the disputed arrears of over half a million naira. It also mandated that all future billings be strictly based on actual consumption as determined by the customer's prepaid meter, in line with NERC regulations, and not on estimated or arbitrary charges. NERC gave EEDC one month to rectify the situation and to begin billing the customer accurately based on her energy usage. Billing Discrepancies Despite Prepaid Meter NERC's investigation revealed that EEDC continued billing the consumer N5,000 monthly, a practice that originated during the PHCN era. This persisted even after the consumer migrated to a prepaid metering system in 2023. Despite using a prepaid meter, the customer was still subjected to additional monthly charges, in direct contradiction of regulations. The commission expressed regret that EEDC failed to halt the illegal billing even after the customer's transition to prepaid metering. The N72,000 originally inherited as debt from PHCN was buried under a growing and unjustified billing cycle, ultimately leading to a claim of N547,000 in arrears. These directives were issued during a hearing on a petition filed by the widow, who challenged the existence of the alleged arrears. The Widow’s Ordeal Recounting her experience, the 80-year-old woman explained that in December 2023, her household’s meter began flashing a red light, making it impossible to recharge. Her son reported the issue to EEDC, and a technician identified only as ThankGod came to inspect the meter. During the inspection, a plastic component reportedly fell from the device, after which the technician informed them the meter had expired. She said they were without power for almost six months, relying on a generator while awaiting EEDC’s response. Despite visiting the EEDC office repeatedly, she said her concerns were ignored. Eventually, officials revisited her home, confirmed that the meter was faulty, but later accused her of tampering with it,an allegation she strongly denies. “I did not tamper with the meter. “The only person who touched it was from EEDC. Yet, they gave me a letter accusing me of tampering. I went to six different senior officials at EEDC, but none took action.”she said. Despite her protests, EEDC fined her N104,000 for alleged meter tampering, which she paid. Her electricity was finally reconnected in June 2024, after which she received an October bill of N60,000, which included an additional N547,000 in arrears. “I was shocked. We didn’t have electricity for six months, yet they claimed I owed so much. I’ve been recharging my meter all along,” she said, adding that since October 2024, she has paid over N480,000, not including the N104,000 paid as a fine. She recalled one instance where she paid only N27,000, prompting EEDC to disconnect her power supply again. Call for ability Comrade Osita Obi the convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, who accompanied the widow, challenged EEDC’s practice of inheriting only the assets of PHCN while refusing to accept its liabilities. He said the widow’s husband had paid for two prepaid meters before PHCN was phased out, but only one was delivered. EEDC, he claimed, refused to honour the second meter delivery, arguing that it was not part of their istration. “I was there when her husband paid for two meters. PHCN only delivered one before the transition to EEDC. When we asked EEDC for the second meter, they refused, saying it wasn’t their responsibility. How can you inherit only assets without inheriting liabilities?” he asked. He accused EEDC of exploiting consumers and urged NERC to compel the company to deliver the second meter, for which the family had already paid.

Anambra on the Rise: Security Restored, Normalcy Returns By Titus Maduako Eleweke The return of normalcy and improved security in Anambra State is becoming a source of great joy and celebration. For some time, cultism, kidnapping, and other violent crimes dominated the headlines, instilling fear in Ndi Anambra and discouraging many from returning home for festivals and celebrations. However, the tide is turning. Proud sons and daughters of Anambra are regaining confidence in the safety of their homeland. Increasingly, people are now coming home for weddings, burial ceremonies, and other events that were once deemed too risky to attend. The efforts of the current Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, have played a pivotal role in this transformation. Since assuming office earlier this year, Orutugu has significantly reduced the climate of fear, fostering trust and cordial relationships between civilians and security personnel. Upon his arrival, reports of kidnapping, killings, armed robbery, and cult-related violence were almost a daily occurrence. Today, these incidents have declined, and normal life, especially nightlife, previously considered dangerous is gradually returning. Orutugu initiated a grassroots approach to policing by visiting communities across the state and engaging residents in dialogue. He emphasized the importance of police-community partnership and urged the public to provide timely and credible information to help combat crime. Communities responded positively, and this collaboration has yielded tangible results. There is now growing public confidence in the security forces, and citizens are more willing to volunteer valuable intelligence. A clear indicator of this progress is the gradual fading of the Monday sit-at-home order. Once rigidly observed in many parts of the state due to security fears, the streets of Onitsha and Nnewi, formerly ghost towns on Mondays are now bustling again, with traders and workers fully resuming activities. However, some residents still treat Mondays as rest days, psychologically stuck in past fears. Orutugu has repeatedly urged these individuals to resume their businesses, reminding them that Anambra is a state known for its enterprise and industrious people. "Sitting at home is not only unproductive but detrimental to our economy," he often says. He also expressed concern that criminal elements have exploited the Biafran agitation to commit atrocities. While acknowledging that the ideology of IPOB may not simply disappear, he condemned its misuse for violent ends by some criminal elements. "When they kill 20 people in Anambra State, chances are that 15 of them are their brothers and sisters," . "This is the time for us to think about saving our people, not destroying them."he said . President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recent visit to Anambra was symbolic of the positive change in the state. Although the visit was initially met with speculation and apprehension, it turned out to be a strong endorsement of the efforts of security forces and a celebration of national unity. Governor Charles Soludo and President Tinubu’s show of camaraderie underscored the importance of unity in diversity. Orutugu described the successful hosting of an APC president by an APGA-led government as a step forward for inter-party cooperation and peaceful coexistence. "We are brothers and sisters before political affiliations," he stated. The also lauded the coordinated efforts of the military, Navy, civil defense, road safety corps, immigration, correctional services, and local vigilante groups, all of whom have played vital roles in stabilizing the state's security .He especially praised the people of Anambra for their cooperation, noting that without community engagement, security operatives would have achieved little. "I want to sincerely thank all the sister security agencies and the vigilantes for complementing the efforts of the police in fighting crime. These agencies have done remarkably well," he said. Thanks to these collective efforts, life has returned to normal in Anambra. High-profile individuals who previously hosted weddings and burials outside the state due to security concerns are now choosing to celebrate in their hometowns. This resurgence in social activities is a testament to the effective security measures under Orutugu’s leadership. Another notable achievement is the revival of nightlife in Awka, Onitsha, Nnewi, and other towns. Residents now frequent clubs and social gatherings without fear of harassment or violence. "Anambra State is safe and secure," "The perception from outside is quite different from the reality on the ground."Orutugu declared. He expressed deep gratitude to Governor Soludo for the unwavering given to security agencies, which has been instrumental in the state's improving security landscape. However, Orutugu highlighted one significant challenge, the acute shortage of operational vehicles within the Anambra State Police Command. In many cases, the has had to use his personal operational vehicle as his official one. He appealed to the state and federal governments, as well as well-meaning individuals, to assist in providing logistics , especially vehicles, to aid mobility and enhance response times. "Anambra is rising, and we all must hands with the police and government to sustain the state's rightful status as the 'Light of the Nation,'" he said. Titus Maduako Eleweke is a journalist and publisher based in Anambra State.

Obi further stated that when the official campaign begins, over 10,000 Keke riders will publicly endorse Soludo. “We are not only endorsing him; we are also proud card-carrying of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA). I am not qualified to be a member of AKDF, and I cannot hold any executive position within the group,” he said. Obi appealed to the governor to help organize a union for Keke drivers and conduct elections to formalize the structure of the organization. He said the absence of an organized body has hindered communication between the government and the drivers. “If there is any message for Keke drivers, there is currently no clear channel to relay it. That’s why a proper structure is urgently needed,” he stressed. Obi also mentioned that the campaign stickers will be pasted on every Keke in Anambra State as part of grassroots mobilization for Soludo’s reelection for free. “AKDF is different from other groups. If you are not a Keke driver, you cannot be a member,” he said

535 Students Graduate from Batch A MSD/MTI Boot-Camp Training in Onitsha By Suzy Chukwuechedom, Onitsha The Metallurgical Training Institute (MTI), under the Federal Ministry of Steel Development (MSD), has recorded a significant success in recent youth training and empowerment in Nigeria’s metals sector, with a total of 535 students graduating from Batch A of the Boot-Camp training exercise. The Honourable Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, speaking during the closing ceremony of Batch A of the Boot-Camp training, said the initiative represents a giant stride in the corrective effort to rejuvenate the Nigerian steel industry and empower youth with the necessary skills for national development. He said that the aim of the program is to cultivate a pool of competent young Nigerians ionate about the metallurgical and steel sectors, aligned with President Tinubu’s vision of a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2030. Audu explained that the maiden edition of the training under the Ministry of Steel began in 1980, following an agreement between the Federal Government of Nigeria and the Republic of . This followed a study carried out by the German Agency for Technical Cooperation (GTZ), which reviewed that Nigeria’s vocational education was too theoretical and lacked sufficient practical basics needed for industrialization. As a result, the institute was established and has since benefited from the founding fathers’ vision. The Minister stated that the program remains part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed agenda to ensure graduates from the institute are equipped with appropriate technical skills and competencies, rather than just regular certificates, enabling them to become successful entrepreneurs. He added that the Boot-Camp training program is not only about skill acquisition and starter empowerment equipment but also focuses on character formation, discipline, and cultivating a mindset geared towards innovation, entrepreneurship, and national service. The Minister assured that the Ministry will continue to monitor the progress of the graduates. In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Steel Development, Dr. Chris Isokpunwu, described the ceremony as a celebration of hard work and possibilities, highlighting the ministry’s commitment to growth through human capital development. He advised the graduates to utilize their opportunities and starter kits to continue creating and contributing to the economy. The Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, represented by the Commissioner for Industry, Mr. Christian Udechukwu, expressed joy that the Ministry of Steel chose Anambra as the site for this training program for all Nigerians, including Anambrians. He stated that Anambra is happy to partner with the ministry to sustain the training, adding that the state has funds dedicated to youth entrepreneurship development, managed by the Small Business Association and t partnership development funds with the Bank of Industry through his ministry. The Director of the Metallurgical Inspectorate Department, Ministry of Steel Development, Engr. Frederick Eni Ewa, further explained that the Boot-Camp training focuses on equipping young Nigerians with industry-relevant technical competencies in key areas such as welding and fabrication, industrial metallurgy and foundry technology, instrumentation and control systems, and mechanical maintenance. He said that through the program, trainees received expert-led instruction, hands-on mentorship, and exposure to practical technologies aligned with global best practices. Ewa listed some of the challenges encountered during the training, including logistics constraints and transport , inadequate hostel accommodation, the need to upgrade training equipment, and threats from erosion. He appealed for a recruitment waiver and the urgent age of the enabling bill for the Metallurgical Training Institute.

Ejiofor Condemns Amnesty Nigeria's Rash Blame on IPOB for Okigwe Killings Human rights lawyer and counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has described as hasty and lacking in proper investigation the statement by Amnesty International Nigeria accusing IPOB of being responsible for the recent killings in Okigwe,Imo state. In a statement released on Monday and made available to our reporter in Awka, Anambra State, Ejiofor said that the premature release of such a statement underscores the urgent need for a thorough, impartial, and evidence-based investigation into the incident. According to him, the quick attribution of the killings to IPOB without exhaustive verification raises serious concerns about the integrity and neutrality of the report. He said that the approach does not align with the expected standards of a globally respected human rights organization. The statement reads:“In light of the recent hasty statement issued by Amnesty International Nigeria on the Okigwe killings, it is imperative to underscore the need for a thorough, impartial, and evidence-based investigation. The quick attribution of the killings to IPOB, without exhaustive verification, raises serious concerns about the integrity and neutrality of the report. This approach does not align with the expected standards of a globally respected human rights organisation. “It must be unequivocally stated that no individual or authority, regardless of their constitutional powers, is permitted to take another’s life outside the due process enshrined in Section 33 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). The sanctity of human life must remain inviolable. “I therefore strongly condemn the killing of innocent travellers by yet-to-be-identified heartless perpetrators, beasts in human form who have lost all connection to humanity. I call on Nigeria’s security agencies to promptly and meticulously investigate these heinous crimes and ensure that those responsible are identified, apprehended, and prosecuted in accordance with the law. The security agencies must stop paying lip service, as they often do, and instead conduct a thorough investigation into these dastardly and wanton killings.” Upon a careful review of Amnesty International Nigeria’s statement, Ejiofor pointed out several inconsistencies and troubling lapses: Areas faults: Questionable Source of Casualty Figures: Amnesty International Nigeria reported specific casualty figures without disclosing any independently verified sources. This deviates from their well-established protocol, which typically relies on independent investigations that may take days or even weeks before arriving at conclusions. Premature Attribution of Blame: While the police acknowledged the attack, they refrained from confirming the exact number of casualties or the identity of the attackers. Amnesty International’s conclusive link to IPOB therefore appears speculative and unsubstantiated. Potential Conflict of Interest: Concerns have also been raised about the neutrality of the Country Director of Amnesty International Nigeria, who previously held a political appointment as Special Assistant to the Governor of Yobe State. This dual role casts a shadow over the objectivity of the organisation’s reporting. Ongoing Threats in the Region: It is well known that remnants of armed elements loyal to Simon Ekpa continue to destabilize communities across the Southeast. While this is a pressing security concern that requires urgent state intervention, it does not justify the rushed attribution of blame without due diligence. In conclusion, Ejiofor said that it is imperative for both national and international stakeholders to demand a credible, unbiased, and fact-driven investigation into the Okigwe killings. “The loss of innocent lives must not be politicized or sensationalized. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done, both to honour the victims and to safeguard the rule of law in our democracy. Only the truth, firmly established through rigorous investigation, can pave the path to justice and lasting peace,” he said.

Keke Drivers' Secretary Fights Back: Demands Action Against Fake Informant in Anambra The Secretary of the Keke Drivers Association in Anambra State, Comrade Uchenna Umeh, has called on the Anambra State Police Command to bring Mr. Chukwuka Nwalen to justice for allegedly providing false information, which led to his being accused as an armed robber by the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) in Awkuzu. Speaking with our correspondent, Comrade Umeh expressed disappointment that someone could make a false report to the police falsely labeling him a gang leader involved in tricycle theft and yet face no consequences. He stated that the police have so far failed to act on the serious allegations, allowing the matter to linger without resolution. Umeh also revealed that Chukwuka had previously made criminal threats against him and other Keke drivers in Awka, which were reported to the police. However, he lamented that no meaningful steps have been taken to address these threats. He urged the police to arrest and prosecute Chukwuka for spreading false information and making criminal threats, stressing that Keke drivers in the state are now living in fear due to the inadequate response from law enforcement agencies. “Despite the ongoing investigations, Chukwuka and his associates continue to intimidate our ,” “We later discovered that some men came to my house at night, claiming to be RRS officers acting on a petition filed by Chukwuka. He accused me of leading a syndicate of armed robbers and Keke snatchers in Awka.” “When I appeared at the RRS unit in Awkuzu, the officers were surprised. Based on the petition, they expected someone much younger and more aggressive. I explained my side of the story and provided relevant details. They released me on bail and scheduled a follow-up, but once again, Chukwuka failed to appear,” he added. Meanwhile, of the Keke Drivers Union in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, continue to raise alarm over the resurgence of cult-related attacks targeting their colleagues, both at their parks and at home. In recent weeks, drivers operating at Aroma Park in Awka have reportedly suffered multiple assaults by suspected cultists, leaving some injured. The union is urging the state government and relevant security agencies to take swift action before the situation escalates and leads to loss of life. Speaking to Insideoutnews, Comrade Umeh recounted several troubling incidents that appear to be connected. “I believe the attack last week and the one that occurred in February are related,” “Last week at Eke Awka Park in Aroma, four men entered through the back gate in an uned tricycle. After spending some time inside, they attempted to leave through the main entrance. When our fee collector asked them to pay the park fee—as required in our privately managed park—they refused and began beating him. When he defended himself, one of the men pulled out a pump-action gun and fired into the air. Thankfully, no one was hurt.” “Later that same evening, they went to the home of one of our , Mr. Samuel Nnabuogu, beat him severely, and inflicted multiple head and body injuries. They also robbed him of his day’s earnings. He is currently undergoing medical treatment,” Umeh narrated. He linked these incidents to an ongoing dispute with Chukwuka Nwalen, a former park member originally from Ebonyi State. According to Umeh, Chukwuka repeatedly violated park rules by picking up engers outside designated areas, thereby undermining the queueing system put in place to ensure fairness. “When we confronted him, he threatened one of our , Ernest Attah, saying he would bring people to ‘deal with him.’ When we attempted to move his tricycle back into the park to resolve the issue, he violently resisted,” Umeh said. Following that incident, the matter was reported to the Central Police Station (S) in Awka. “We filed a report with Sergeant Uju and we were instructed to tow Chukwuka’s tricycle to the station, which we did at a cost of N20,000. However, after a month, we received no updates from the police, and Chukwuka never returned to address the matter,” he explained. Umeh further revealed that Chukwuka later returned to the park with a different tricycle and continued to disregard the rules. “When he was apprehended again and taken to S, he was granted bail the same day, and the police promised to investigate further.” Shortly afterward, Umeh was informed that Chukwuka had been asking about his home address—an act he found threatening. “I reported this to the police, but they treated it lightly. Sergeant Uju, who was handling the case, frequently missed appointments and never returned my calls. I felt like the police were shielding him. This prompted us to escalate the matter to the Commissioner of Police, who reassigned the case.

Nigeria Cannot Grow Through Tribal, Religious, Political Divisions – IPOB Lawyer Human rights lawyer and counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has stated that Nigerians cannot build a just society when actions and analyses are influenced by tribal, religious, or political biases. In a statement titled SATURDAY MUSINGS: TRUTH IN CHAINS – THE QUIET DEATH OF CLEAR THINKING, which he posted on his Facebook page on Saturday, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor said, “We cannot demand ability when we only hold ‘the other side’ able.” He also emphasized that Nigeria cannot progress when loyalty is given to political parties rather than to principles that uphold justice and fairness. The statement reads:“In a nation where allegiance to political parties often trumps allegiance to truth, objectivity is fast becoming an endangered virtue. We’ve reached a point where the merit of a statement is not judged by its content but by the identity of its speaker. If it’s from ‘our side,’ it must be defended—even if it’s poison. If it’s from the ‘other side,’ it must be attacked—even if it’s gold. This cognitive captivity is dangerous. It erodes critical thinking, blinds us to reality, and fuels the very dysfunction we claim to despise. The cost? Truth is sacrificed at the altar of political convenience. Progress stalls. The nation bleeds—slowly, steadily.Objectivity isn’t neutrality; it is intellectual honesty. It means looking at the facts, regardless of where they lead. It is being able to call out incompetence even when it wears your party’s colours. It is standing for justice even when it is your friend in the dock. We cannot build a just society if our analyses are tinted by tribal, religious, or political lenses. We cannot demand ability when we only hold ‘the other side’ able. We cannot grow if our loyalty is to parties and not to principles. This Saturday, I dare you to see clearly. Strip issues to their core. Judge them on facts, not affiliations. The truth has no party. Justice has no tribe. And integrity has no price tag. History will not the loudest voices—it will the most honest ones.” 1 Like |

Soludo 2025: Tinubu’s Anambra Stop Sparks Endorsement Buzz By Ifeany Ejiofor The visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Anambra State marked a significant moment in the socio-political landscape of the Southeast. In what could be described as a historic occasion, indigenes and residents alike came out in large numbers to welcome the President, while many others tuned in to national broadcasts to witness the event. Notably, the non-indigene population, particularly from the Southwest, also participated enthusiastically. The event was visibly buoyed by the energy of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, whose excitement at hosting the Commander-in-Chief was palpable. Although certain organisational gaps were noted, they were overshadowed by the significance of the moment and the Governor's exuberant welcome. Political analysts have interpreted President Tinubu’s body language and warm gestures during the visit as a tacit endorsement of Governor Soludo’s second-term bid, even though no formal declaration was made. As has been reiterated in political circles and discussions, opposition to Soludo’s re-election appears minimal, largely due to his visible achievements in infrastructure development across a significant part of the state, testimonies to which many, including myself, can personally attest. For instance, the ease of travel to my ancestral home in Oraifite via a newly constructed road speaks well about his performance. In this regard, Governor Soludo deserves commendation for his transformative governance. I have so much doubt that any contender will possibly upset this momentum in the near term. However, as Soludo prepares for the next political cycle, he must adopt a more inclusive approach. He must that his mandate was granted by the people of Anambra, not by any individual political actor. No single person holds the power to either make or unmake his future - his legitimacy lies with the electorate. Therefore, fostering unity and building trust across all divides will be essential to consolidating public . Furthermore, the resilience of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in maintaining political continuity in Anambra deserves recognition. As the only party to have consistently governed the state over the years, APGA has earned its place as a unifying democratic force in the region. Governor Soludo would also do well to refine his public communication strategy. Political leadership requires tact and measured rhetoric. Personal attacks, especially against fellow Anambrarians - regardless of their political affiliations - could prove counterproductive and erode his goodwill. Public perception matters greatly in Anambra, particularly when respected elders are publicly disparaged. Soludo must rise above petty disputes and focus on policy-driven engagement. A final point of concern relates to the indiscriminate revocation of the Certificates of Occupancy (CoO) of commercial /private lands granted by the previous istration. While development requires space, Anambra’s landlocked geography presents legitimate constraints. The istration must tread carefully, particularly in cases where the C of O have already been granted under previous governments. Ongoing legal disputes over such acquisitions highlight the need for caution. Developmental policies must be executed with a human face, advancing progress without compromising justice or fairness. In conclusion, President Tinubu’s visit has reinforced key political currents in Anambra and positioned Governor Soludo advantageously. However, sustaining that momentum will depend on strategic communication, inclusive governance, and people-centred policy implementation. IPOB's Lawyer Blasts Govts Over Unchecked Rampaging Fulani Herders The lead counsel to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, has described the government's uncaring attitude toward addressing the menace of rampaging Fulani herdsmen across the country as both shameful and indicting. Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a renowned human rights lawyer, stated in a press release on Tuesday that Nigerians are witnessing a grave national tragedy and crisis due to the unchecked bloodbath of innocent and defenceless citizens at the hands of some Fulani herders. According to him, the daily killings across the country have become a tragic norm, and the government must stop paying lip service to the issue, emphasizing that human life is sacred. He lamented that, in today's Nigeria, it appears the lives of cattle are valued more than those of human beings. Ejiofor called on all levels of government to preserve the sanctity of life and immediately restore public confidence by securing communities and ensuring that the safety of citizens is treated not as a luxury but as a fundamental right. The statement reads: “Nigeria is witnessing a grave national tragedy — a relentless wave of violence unleashed by rampaging Fulani herdsmen from Plateau to Benue, from Uzo Uwani in Enugu State to parts of Delta State. The unchecked bloodbath of innocent, defenceless citizens — whose only crime is being aboriginal to their ancestral lands — has become a tragic, daily occurrence. Each day, new casualty figures are reported by the media, reducing human lives to mere statistics, as though we were counting livestock. Behind those numbers are mothers, fathers, children, and breadwinners — fellow citizens whose lives have been brutally cut short by wicked, soulless killers. The most recent massacre in Plateau State reportedly claimed 52 lives just yesterday, though locals insist the real toll is even higher. Shockingly, these atrocities continue while the state sits in complicit silence, issuing hollow condemnations without any meaningful action. Let it be made clear: HUMAN LIFE IS SACRED AND IRREPLACEABLE. Yet, in this country, it too often appears that the lives of cattle are valued more than those of human beings. This is a shameful indictment on our government and an affront to our shared humanity. The time for rhetoric has ed. This is an urgent and unambiguous call for decisive, coordinated action by the Federal Government, led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the governors of the affected states. These leaders swore an oath — backed by the Constitution — to protect the lives and property of citizens and to guarantee their security. It is a sacred duty, not a negotiable privilege. The continuous slaughter of innocent Nigerians by marauding herdsmen, and the government’s inertia in the face of this carnage, is both condemnable and unacceptable. All security and law enforcement agencies must act decisively, without bias or hesitation. Communities must also awaken to the painful reality of the state’s failure and begin to lawfully safeguard themselves against this existential threat. I must reiterate: LIFE IS PRECIOUS. Its sanctity must be preserved. Government at all levels must immediately restore public confidence, secure our communities, and ensure that the safety of the citizens is not a luxury but a right for all. Enough must finally be enough — and must be seen to be so.”

Orutugu: The Criminal Nightmare in Anambra Titus Eleweke On February 10th, 2025, Ikioye Orutugu assumed office as the 35th Commissioner of Police in Anambra State. He took charge during a period when the state was grappling with an alarming surge in violent crimes, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and cultism. Crime reports dominated the news, and no day ed without negative headlines coming from the State. Before his appointment, Orutugu had served as the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Counter-Terrorism Unit at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He was deployed to Anambra to address the escalating crime wave, especially the rise in kidnappings, robberies, and cult activities. With his extensive experience in counter-terrorism and specialized training in combat leadership, Orutugu was prepared for the challenge. His tactical strategies and leadership style quickly began to turn the tide in favor of law and order in the state. Within just a few weeks of taking office, the Commissioner made significant strides in combating crime. His efforts led to the dismantling of criminal gangs and the expulsion of many underworld figures from the state. For those who remained, law enforcement acted swiftly and decisively, sending a clear message that crime would not be tolerated in the state. In about two months, Anambra witnessed a dramatic reduction in incidents of kidnapping, armed robbery, and cult violence. Kidnappers' camps were located, destroyed, and burned, while the sound of gunfire that once reverberated throughout neighborhoods became a rare occurrence. The fear that had driven many residents to relocate to cities like Awka, Enugu, or even Lagos has gradually dissipated. Those who had fled their homes are now returning, marking a hopeful sign of stability in the state. The people of Anambra, who had long lived in fear, are now beginning to feel a renewed sense of security. The state is seeing a resurgence of life, as people return for family events such as weddings and funerals, activities that were once abandoned due to safety concerns. Orutugu, often referred to as "The Lion" in police circles, has proven himself worthy of the title. His leadership has shaken the criminal underworld, forcing many criminals to flee in panic. The residents of Anambra now enjoy greater peace of mind and freedom of movement, thanks to his unyielding commitment to restoring order. Ndi Anambra are deeply grateful for the newfound tranquility in their state, and there is a growing belief that Orutugu's efforts will continue to ensure safety for all. It is a collective hope that he will sustain this momentum, continuing to combat crime effectively. However, it is important for the citizens of Anambra to remain ive of the police force's efforts by giving necessary information. By backing the police and Commissioner’s actions, the people of Anambra can ensure a future where they can go about their daily lives without the fear of criminal molestation. With the "Lion" in charge, Anambra’s criminals have no place to hide. By Titus Maduako Eleweke, Senior Journalist, Resident in Awka, Anambra State

12 Biafran Inmates Regain Freedom After Four Years On Thursday, 12 out of 36 Biafrans who had been detained since May 24, 2021, were granted their freedom after four long years. This release followed a series of court orders that discharged and acquitted these individuals of all charges. Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the lead counsel for the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), described the release as historic. He said that while justice may be delayed, it cannot be denied, asserting that freedom will ultimately prevail. The statement reads:"History was made today, April 10, 2025, at the Ebonyi State High Court, as 12 Biafran inmates, part of a group of 36 held since May 24, 2021, were finally set free in compliance with successive court orders discharging and acquitting them of all charges. This victory comes after a formal application by the Ebonyi State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), who, recognizing the repeated judicial pronouncements, withdrew the latest charges against these 12 individuals. This marks a long-overdue respect for the rule of law and reaffirms their innocence, which the courts have consistently upheld. In accordance with the court's directive, I personally oversaw the handover of the released individuals, an order which the prison authorities promptly complied with. Our legal team remains relentless and fully committed to securing the freedom of the remaining detainees—men who have also been discharged and acquitted by no fewer than four different High Courts in Ebonyi State. Their release is no longer a matter of 'if,' but 'when.' That moment draws closer every day."

Petition to IGP,PSC Chairman: Alleged Abuse, Extortion by Police Officers Titus Maduako Eleweke A petition has been submitted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) DIG Hashimu Argungu by the mother of three Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye, who was allegedly subjected to abuse and unlawful detention by police officers. Mrs. Chinenye’s arrest, in connection with a financial dispute involving her husband, Obinna George Smart Unegbu, has raised serious concerns regarding police misconduct and extortion. The petition, filed by her lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor, called for a thorough investigation into the unprofessional conduct of the officers involved. According to the petition, Mrs. Chinenye is described as a hardworking, responsible mother and wife who has dedicated herself to ing her family. The petition said that the arrest and detention of Mrs. Chinenye constitute serious violations of her rights, and urges both the IGP and the PSC Chairman to launch an extensive inquiry into the actions of the officers involved. The petition further demands disciplinary action against the officers for their gross abuse of power, as well as the return of the N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) allegedly extorted from Mrs. Chinenye. This, the petition argues, is essential for restoring public confidence in the Nigerian Police Force and ensuring that officers adhere to ethical standards. Full Statement of the Petition "We are the solicitors for Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye (hereinafter referred to as 'Our Client') and are writing under her explicit instruction and mandate to petition for a thorough investigation into the unprofessional conduct of the officers mentioned. Despite occasional domestic disagreements, our client never imagined that her husband would resort to using police officers to subject her to inhumane treatment, abuse, bullying, and torture for no justifiable reason. Our client has been married to Mr. Obinna George Smart Unegbu for over a decade, and they have three children. Although the couple faced initial struggles, they worked diligently to build one of the most successful private schools in the South-East. Their union has been one of perseverance and achievement. However, this peaceful family life was disrupted on March 27, 2025, when a dispute arose regarding the delayed remittance of business funds by her husband. Mrs. Chinenye had set a deadline for the payment, which was agreed upon by her husband. On this day, a group of officers, including CSP [name], 2/C [name], and ASP [name], stormed their home in Lagos, demanding to speak with Mrs. Chinenye in the presence of her husband and children. Upon learning of the officers’ presence, Mrs. Chinenye immediately descended to meet them. To her shock, the officers claimed to be from Area H Command Headquarters, Ikeja, acting on a petition filed by her husband. They refused to disclose the contents of the petition, but insisted on taking her into custody. Her husband, without any regard for her dignity, instructed the officers to handcuff her immediately. The officers allowed Mrs. Chinenye to change into casual clothing, but upon her insistence, a female officer accompanied her to her room. Once she complied, the officers seized her phone and escorted her to Area H Command Headquarters in Ikeja, where they presented her with a petition from her husband regarding a financial transaction. Mrs. Chinenye explained that her husband also owed her money, but despite her detailed explanation, the officers subjected her to physical abuse, including slapping and torture, in an attempt to force her to settle the alleged debt. Her husband stood by, observing the abuse, and even signaled his approval of the officers' actions. Desperate to return to her children, Mrs. Chinenye agreed to pay N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) of the alleged debt. The officers provided a bank number, and Mrs. Chinenye made the payment. A copy of the transaction receipt is attached for reference. Despite this, the officers demanded that she pay the remaining N10,000,000.00 (Ten Million Naira), threatening further detention if she did not comply. When she refused, the officers revealed that they were from the IGP Monitoring Unit, Abuja, and planned to transfer her to Abuja. Mrs. Chinenye was detained overnight at the FCID Unit, Panti, Lagos, before being handcuffed and forcibly flown to Abuja. Upon arrival in Abuja, she was subjected to further abuse, threats, and bullying by the officers, who insisted that she pay the remaining debt. When she refused, she was transferred to the Abattoir-SARS detention facility, a notorious location known for housing criminals. Here, Mrs. Chinenye was forced to share a cell with dangerous criminals, who assaulted her. By divine intervention, she narrowly escaped further harm. During her detention, Mrs. Chinenye was repeatedly taken to unknown locations and coerced into making additional payments. On one occasion, she was allowed to call her cousin in a desperate attempt to raise more funds to settle the debt. This relentless torment continued until her release was secured on March 30, 2025, with the assistance of the Police High Command. However, the physical and emotional toll remains. Findings The actions of the officers involved are clear violations of both ethical standards and the law. It is evident that they were enlisted by Mrs. Chinenye’s husband to engage in debt recovery, which is strictly prohibited by the Police. Our client was subjected to torture and mistreatment despite the fact that the matter at hand was a civil issue between a husband and wife. The officers extorted N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) from our client, transferring the money into a suspicious , not belonging to her husband. The coercion continued, with the officers demanding the balance of the debt. This situation has not only damaged a young family but also exposed private matters that could have been avoided had the officers adhered to their duties with professionalism. Prayers In light of these serious violations, we respectfully request that the Chairman,Launch a comprehensive investigation into the unethical conduct of the officers involved, take appropriate disciplinary action against the officers for their abuse of power, recover and return the N5,000,000.00 (Five Million Naira) extorted from our client and restore public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force by ensuring officers adhere to ethical standards. We trust that your intervention will bring justice and uphold the integrity of the Force. We remain, Sir, with the highest regards."

Trader Demands Investigation into NAFDAC activities at Ogbo-Ogwu Titus Maduako Eleweke A trader at Ogbo-Ogwu Bridge Head Market, Onitsha, has issued a Pre-Action Notice to the National Agency for Food and Drug istration and Control (NAFDAC), demanding full ability and fair compensation for the significant losses suffered by law-abiding trader, Ms. Okoye Sophia Eberechukwu. The notice, issued by Ms. Eberechukwu’s lawyer, Sir Ifeanyi, calls for an investigation into the alleged looting of her goods, valued at millions of naira, by NAFDAC officials stationed at the market. It stated that instead of carrying out their regulatory duties, these officials were looting the trader’s goods. In a statement, Ms. Eberechukwu said that she had previously called for a thorough investigation and ability regarding the actions of NAFDAC officials at the market. The statement reads: "On March 15, 2025, we brought to public attention the grave misconduct allegedly perpetrated by officials of the National Agency for Food and Drug istration and Control (NAFDAC), stationed at Ogbo-Ogwu Bridge Head Market. These officials, rather than fulfilling their duty, reportedly looted the shop of Ms. Okoye Sophia Eberechukwu, stealing goods worth millions of naira — none of which were pharmaceutical products. In response to this blatant act of impunity, and following our earlier demand for a thorough investigation and ability, we have now escalated the matter legally. A Pre-Action Notice has been formally served on NAFDAC, accompanied by our demand for full ability and fair compensation for the immense losses suffered by this law-abiding trader. The arbitrary looting of a citizen’s business under the pretext of regulatory enforcement is an egregious abuse of power, a criminal act, and a violation of fundamental rights. While regulatory agencies have a duty to enforce compliance, such actions must strictly adhere to due process, fairness, and the rule of law. No government agency should be permitted to weaponize enforcement to inflict unwarranted hardship on innocent individuals. We remain unwavering in our pursuit of justice for Ms. Eberechukwu. Those responsible for this unlawful and reprehensible act must face the full weight of the law. Justice must not only be done but must be seen to be done."

Petition to IGP,PSC Chairman: Woman Exposing Alleged Police Abuse,Extortion Titus Maduako Eleweke A petition has been submitted to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun and the Chairman of the Police Service Commission (PSC) DIG Hashimu Argungu by the mother of three Mrs. Mother's Day Nightmare: Detained Woman Laments Torture and Betrayal A woman who was detained on Mother's Day at an Abuja police facility has expressed deep bitterness and pain over her mistreatment. Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye revealed her agony after being arrested by the police at the request of her husband, a man she once loved and ed. Mrs. Joy-Smart Chinenye shared her story in a statement issued on Monday, which was provided to our reporter. "While mothers around the world were celebrating Mothering Sunday, my own husband—the man I once loved and ed—had me thrown into the Abattoir-SARS detention facility in Abuja, a notorious place known for holding criminals, kidnappers, and terrorists. This is the same man I met when he was just a classroom teacher. I stood by him, fed him, ed him financially, and watched as God elevated him to a multi-billionaire. But how did he repay me? By having me brutalized, arrested, and locked away in one of the most dreaded cells in the country," she said. Mrs. Chinenye described the emotional pain of her betrayal, stating that despite her unwavering loyalty throughout their marriage, her husband had been unfaithful. She revealed that he had been involved with both single and married women, exposing her to multiple infections in the process, yet, she endured the humiliation and betrayal in silence, attempting to protect their marriage from public scrutiny. However, she said he continued to find ways to harm her. She explained that her husband manipulated the police into arresting her over an alleged debt—an issue that should have been addressed through civil court, not police brutality. "It is regrettable that this time, his weapon against me was the Nigerian Police Force," "When did the police become a debt recovery agent?"she said. On March 27, 2025, she recounted, officers stormed their home, forcibly taking her away in front of their children. She was then detained at the FCID Annex in Panti, Lagos, where she was tortured and coerced into transferring ₦5 million to an they provided. When she was unable to meet his further demands, she was forcefully transported to Abuja, where she was again subjected to detention, abuse, and extortion at the notorious Abattoir facility. "I was repeatedly taken from the SARS detention cell at night to unknown locations, where I endured intense coercion and intimidation. These harrowing experiences continued until the timely intervention of Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor (I.C. Ejiofor Chambers), whose relentless legal efforts finally secured my release in the early hours of last night. But the scars—both physical and emotional—remain," she said. Mrs. Chinenye emphasized that she could no longer stay silent. "In due course, I will grant a press release and expose the full truth about Obinna George Smart Unaegbu. The world deserves to know the reality," she added. Her story serves as a poignant reminder of the injustices faced by individuals caught in abusive situations and the profound impact of betrayal and abuse on both physical and emotional well-being.

IGP Urged to Probe Brutalization of Woman Over Debt to Husband on mothers Day Titus Maduako Eleweke Human rights lawyer Sir Ifeanyi Ejiofor has called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to thoroughly investigate the Monitoring Unit of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Headquarters in Abuja for the arrest, brutalization, torture, and detention of Mrs. Joy Smart Chinenye over an alleged unpaid debt to her husband. In a statement issued on Sunday, Ejiofor emphasized that various statutory laws and judicial precedents have consistently affirmed that the Nigeria Police Force is not authorized to act as a debt recovery agency. He expressed concern over the unlawful use of the police for debt recovery, even in defiance of clear directives from the IGP. According to Ejiofor, Section 4 of the Nigeria Police Act explicitly outlines the duties of the NPF and makes no provision for debt recovery. He further noted that superior courts have repeatedly ruled that the police cannot be used as a tool for resolving private financial disputes. Ejiofor cited notable cases reinforcing his position, including Kure v. Commissioner of Police (2020) LPELR-49378 (SC) and Madaki & Anor v. GTB & Anor (2022) LPELR-57419 (CA). Given the legal precedent, Ejiofor questioned how personnel from the Monitoring Unit of the NPF Headquarters could arrest, brutalize, torture, and detain Mrs. Joy Smart Chinenye based on a petition filed by her legally married husband, Mr. George Obinna Smart Unaegbu, over an alleged debt. He expressed concern over the use of the police in such private financial matters, particularly in light of established legal principles. Ejiofor also expressed dismay that, on a globally recognized day for celebrating motherhood, Mrs. Smart, a mother of three, was unjustly detained instead of celebrating Mothering Sunday like other women. He outlined the details of the incident: On March 28, 2025, officers from the NPF Monitoring Unit, acting on a petition from her husband, arrested, brutalized, tortured, and detained her over an alleged unpaid debt. Her husband had allegedly given her funds for forex trading, which she was unable to repay. Instead of pursuing civil redress, her husband enlisted the police. Officers stormed their home in Lagos, arresting Mrs. Smart in front of their children and detaining her at the FCID Annex in Panti, Lagos. There, she was coerced into transferring ₦5 million to her husband's . When she could not pay an additional ₦10 million, she was forcibly transported to Abuja and held at the notorious Abattoir detention facility, a known holding area for hardened criminals. In a shocking turn of events, while Mrs. Smart was in detention, her husband relocated their children and took possession of her personal belongings. Ejiofor further stated that the Nigeria Police Service Commission (NPSC), under the distinguished Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (RTD), and the Inspector General of Police, have issued clear directives prohibiting officers from engaging in land dispute complaints, proxy arrests, and debt recovery, among other matters. Despite these directives, officers involved in this case blatantly ignored the guidelines, prioritizing personal financial interests over their constitutional duties. Ejiofor called for the immediate and unconditional release of Mrs. Joy Smart Chinenye and urged the IGP to initiate a thorough investigation into this gross abuse of power. He further called for the officers involved to be sanctioned to prevent future misconduct. While legal action is being considered, Ejiofor emphasized the importance of bringing this case to public attention to prevent further erosion of the rule of law. "The Nigeria Police Force must not be unscrupulously used as a tool for settling private disputes, especially on a day meant to honor mothers," This is particularly egregious, given that the highest echelons of the Police Authority have sternly warned and prohibited personnel from engaging in such disgraceful acts that tarnish the institution's reputation."he said.
