This is a picture of Tesco shelves, a popular UK store nationwide.
It took me a while to understand what I was looking at.
Everything that is at your "eye" level is usually cheap, unhealthy food.
All the Items that are HIGHER or LOWER, near the bottom are more expensive AND HEALTHIER options same thing, but maybe a different brand.
The TYPICAL poor Nigerian immigrant will enter there, SEE things at EYE LEVEL, pick and buy.
And within 6 months all your fat and cholesterol have sky rocketed
-
Oyibo man will enter there, and be stretching up OR bending down, buying the more expensive AND healthier options, to remain healthy and live longer.
I'm only mentioning this one because I saw it live and direct by myself when I lived in UK.
Trust poor man na. I gained 6 kg weight in 6 months. I no fit bend down wear my socks again. That's when I knew I had to change immediately.
Any healthy eating is important for everyone. But it ain't cheap.

There are still cheap and healthy options if one search for it.Another crucial factor is exercise.I watched London Marathon this year and was shocked to see that only 35 Nigerians took part in the race of over 58.000 participants.lndians,South Africans,Poles, Mexicans,Morrocans were many in the sporting event.Such low turnout by Nigerians, despite their relatively huge population in the UK,is a pointer to their inactive lifestyle and premature deaths. This explains partly why over 72% of black adults in the UK are overweight or living with obesity.

Different races age differently.
Black people tend to remain constant age for a long period
Same with Asian people. Asian 60year old will still be looking like 25year old
It's white people that age the fastest in this world.
-
When Nigerian older women go overseas, they can just rub body cream, make their hair
and oyibo there will be thinking they are young girls.

And what is the life expectancy of Nigerians even the ones overseas? They are largely unhealthy.Obesity is high among Nigerians in the diaspora. The cellular and metabolic function is crucial for aging. On the contrary Oyibo live far healthier and longer than us.

You can get old and still do things independently, even swiftly.
It depends on genetic, body weight and frame, and good condition of health.
I know people in their 80s going to 90s and still very much active
God help us

It depends largely on lifestyle. How well and long we live is entirely within our control.Genetics, bodyweight, frame etc play a minute roll.

I think Nigerians as a people don't truly understand aging and that is why, after all this years,we still remain the world's least living humans. Some say, just have the money and you are likely to live longer but that is far from the real truth. Also, most people don't understand the difference between aging and healthy aging.Your grandpa might have lived till his 80s but was incapacitated, bedridden or was in a nursing home being taken care of for the last decades of his life, while another old man in same age like your grandpa, is strong, exercises, walks, runs long distance races like marathons.Every year we read of people in the west in their 80s, that run and complete marathons.l wonder if a Nigerian of 60 years and above can run a marathon let alone even complete it.

Why has Tinubu, Buhari,Soyinka,Sowore Amaechi, pastor Adeboye and others that were busy lying and spreading falsehood against Jonathan, not come out publicly to apologize? When one observe in retrospect to what is happening now in this country,it is fair to say it was a huge mistake having Buhari and now Tinubu.

A watched a testimony yesterday on YouTube, about a USA based Nigerian who returned to Nigeria to live his pension years. How his own siblings ganged up to routinely milk him of his monthly 5000 dollar pension money, while he was left on his sick bed was so heartbreaking.

wait when you clock 50 with all your exercises before you respond, no matter all your fitness exercises. Old age is still old age . Those you mentioned are your great grandparents age mate.

No, you don't have to wait until you get old.How you live now will determine how you would age later in life.We shall all get older but how you age is within your control.Yes,a regular exercise predicts your lifespan. Those people l mentioned aren't very old.Did you know that thousands of people within or above their age bracket do run long distance races like Marathon?l recently watched a 100m race of 71 years and above.Quite thrilling.

when last did you feel good about anything in this your life?

The dopamine rush when l am outdoor jogging is a good feeling. Also the feeling of waking up in the morning to know the l am going to train and extend my health and lifespan through exercise.Sitting is the new smoking and it's sad to see young men and women with protuding portbelly due to over sitting. Slump and die while driving is at an alarming rate.Would you rather look like lBB,Tinubu or Buhari who can barely walk despite their billlions and fleet of cars or walk 10.000 steps daily and preserve your health?
Tendd: 4:19pm On Jun 11
Sitting much on a car shortens your lifespan.Rather it's beneficial to let your dad walk, jog or run regularly than buy a car for him.
Tendd: 8:05pm On Jun 09
The short shall inherit the earth.ha ha.A short man with lean muscles maybe and not a fat short man.The short people in Nigeria don't live longer ,sadly.
Anyway if you want to live longer and healthier,go to the gym regularly or exercise at home. Most centenarians in the blue zone countries are not short people but those with better nutrition, regular physical activities,social/family s etc.Height does not play any roll whatsoever.A short man with an unhealthy lifestyle will go down sooner just like a tall man in similar condition.

If that was Tinubu this thread would have reached 10 pages by now...

We all can trip sometimes but the ability to hold your balance and prevent a fall is what counts.Trumps accidentally kicked the stairs and stood up right and walked. Can we confidently say that for Tinubu? Whenever he trips,he falls and we have seen this repeatedly.Think of the ts, hips injuries as a result.I wonder how many times,he has fallen off camera.

To everyone, please endeavour to train your balance, agility, reflexes, flexibility etc if you want to live healthier and longer.Falls is quite common among the elderly and often leads to premature deaths or lack of physical function.Frequent falls is the leading cause of death among the elderly.

A noble and sensible man.All the stress and expenditure for burial is unnecessary. Some even sell properties only for burial.l know of someone that committed suicide because he couldn't give his mom a befitting burial.

Hmmm, this is serious.Reminds me of the taliban in Afghanistan. They often walked in their rocky terrains with such weapons to shoot warplanes that were flying around.lt is unfortunate that we are witnessing a similar scenario in Nigeria.

Were such incidents common in the Netherlands where he lived? If so how was it resolved?Did the victims go to a church or the proper authorities to get back their money? The culprits, so called bank personnels, did they keep their jobs afterwards or thrown in jail? Some people lived in advanced working societies but one can't find any indices of cognitive or critical thinking in them. And l read he gave 2 million "seeds" to the pastor.l think most of his money recollected from the bank would be wasted on tithes, offerings, seeds etc.So pathetic.

Sir,the civil war is over and it's almost 60 years ago.Nothing really has changed so far.We have Fulani herdsmen's rampage all over the country.More than 63.000 Nigerians were murdered during Buhari's leadership and the bloodshed is showing no signs of stopping under Tinubu's.We are having no civil war but still many IDP's across the country. You have uttered no words over the incessant killings in Benue and plateau and was relocated to Kano and later to the UK amidst the insecurity.

Elon is known for his hard drug abuse which is a bad image for the USA and not in tandem with the personality of Trump.Trump is rash but never influenced by any substance.Musk also seemed to be a pro- nazist, something that has angered many, particularly the Jews.He may be rich but he's relatively new in controlling wealth. The Jews are barely 3% of US population but make 20% of the 400 persons on forbes list of the ultra wealthy. Also they are well entrenched as power brokers.Just like not eating cow meat in Nigeria because of Herdsmen's atrocities,l won't have a Tesla for free. That is just me even though l don't have a car.

Those who reside in villages or small towns also suffer, if we refer to our country.

Life belongs to God. However Medicare is very crucial. In medical emergencies, the difference between life and death can be access to proper medical care. Those countries have it in abundance. For example in the UK, in emergencies, ambulances arrive in 3 minutes with doctors and nurses. In Nigeria, we look for okada/danfo/keke Marwa that take ages to arrive. Get to public hospitals and there are either no beds or Doctors on duty.

Those countries have very advanced medical systems that make life easier for the people.

Social services play a huge role too. With infrastructures that make life easier for people, then expect better lives.

What about availability of food and money in the pockets of citizens? For example, in Nigeria, there’s no rule about the feeding pattern. You can wake up in the morning, eat eba and egusi soup with ogunfe. You eat beans/bread or amala or fufu. You get the stress of jumping from one bus to the other and then no money for lunch. You get back home in the evening to the same morning combination, with filled up belly to bed. You begin to develop Esophagitis, Duodenitis and Pangastritis without knowing. The day you eat Sharwama, you feel like an acting big man. Two meals a day, maybe a bottle of coke and gala. In those countries, there are rules about what to eat. No one wakes up to eba. Citizens have meals three times a day. They have snacks and fruits in between, with no stress.

What about living in fear at night. What about moving from place to place. Insecurity everywhere. That’s the challenge of West and Central Africans. Poverty and horrible leaders.

Rich people in Nigeria don't live longer either.Nigerians living in those advanced countries have a relatively low life expectancy. While money or country of residence are important, individual efforts remains a vital factor to living healthier and longer.Exercise remains the most potent tool and it is up to everyone to do that regularly,if we want to live longer.

A pastor that walks the talk.lf more Nigerians begin to spend more time in the gym than in the church, life expectancy would increase exponentially ,than the national average of 54 years.Exercise your body regularly if you want to live healthy and longer.Don't eat too much, gluttony is a sin. There is blessing in motion, keep moving.

at 70 very young how old are you?

Yes,it's very young.I am younger but intend to live past a hundred by doing regular exercises and better food intake.Denmark recently ed a bill to have retirement age to 70 years and many countries would eventually follow suit. This in essence indicates that humans were living longer,so 70 is still very young to die.

Speed Darlington is ignorant and loud mouthed. All States in southern Nigeria have adopted the child rights act. If you have sex with a minor in any state in the south, it is considered as statutory rape. He can go to jail for this foolish behavior!

And if a Northerner living in the south sleeps with a 15 year old, would it carry similar condemnation or would he be sentenced?Just wondering.

How about things like make you happy - like pursuit of loose women and getting high

Ha ha..na you sabi. The lists of lottery Winners and their subsequent misfortunes, you posted, should have been a lesson but we never learn,do we?

Anyway,if you want to age healthier and longer, with money or without money,go begin exercising regularly.Exercise is the most single predictor to long
life.Don't pray to be like IBB.He has no independence with all the money and depends on others for survival.

The bottom line is for you to serve God genuinely and make money when you're young and energetic.

That is still not enough for a heathy aging.Every now and then,we read of people that slump and die in places of worship mainly because of bad health. Exercise is key for longevity and it does not require much money or religious beliefs.

Old age is another thing I fear so much….

I have begged God 70 years old is perfect for me…

70 is still young.Denmark recently signed her retirement age to 70 years because people were living longer. Many countries would follow suit eventually.
The recent London Marathon had 29 persons of 80 years and older that participated. There is nothing to fear. How we age is within our control and this is not necessarily about how rich one is.Exercise is the elixir of life. The less we move, the quicker we age.Personally,l see myself aging to a 100 and that's not by wishing or praying but by putting the work required.
Tendd: 4:20pm On May 28
All of our people on that picture are not really old. While aging is inevitable, preventing or even reversing it is within our control.Solution: Do squats, push ups ,pull ups, dead hangs, dead lift ,box jumps etc.Grip strengths has been shown to increase longevity, do it regularly.Walk everyday.Run/jog two to three times per week. running events like short or long distance races as this would motivate you more.A body in motion, stays in motion.

To those of you talking of money, money, you don't have to be a millionaire or rich to have a healthy aging. Most of those exercises can be performed at home.If it was all but money that equates to living longer, our people living abroad would have been living longer and healthier as well but studies show they are often overweight and die prematurely.

Exercise has proven to be the single most powerful intervention available for longevity. No other biomarker beats it.Until then,Nigeria would remain a country of the least lived humans.
