Senior pastor of House on the rock church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin was the subject of a trending video in which he appeared to brandish what looked like a gun at a content creator "YL_luxury".

He received a lot of backlash from all quarters and he dropped and official statement saying that he was not holding a gun.

According to his post and I quote

From what he said, he will be addressing this during his service today.

From checks, it appears to be that what he was holding was not a gun but actually a stun torch. This begs a question why he will be holding a stun torch at the said time.

While we await what he will call what he held, lets compare a stun torch to what he was holding.

Lol, does it matter if it's a firearm or not?
If it's a stun gun, why is a pastor holding one especially when it's clear that there's no threat to his life? No one even knew it was him in the first place. And notice how he didn't address the allegation of him breaking a Danfo driver's glass sometime last year or so.

That's a stun torch... He probably doesn't move around with security guards like other top pastors do, so he keeps the torch with him in case he needs to defend himself from any threat. And from the video, the torch did just that. The Youtuber stepped back immediately he saw the stunt torch grin

That's not a stun torch. The barrel gave it away. It's either a gun or a toy gun

Any stun device with pistol grip is a gun. That's why it is called stun gun. You mischievously cut off the top of the label you posted; where it was boldly stated that it was a stun gun. How dishonest can someone be?
What is a gun vs firearm. Both are guns, gun is used as a broader term.
You gas lighter you use in your kitchen is a gun.

The truth is that we don’t know what it is, but even if it’s a taser, why pointing it to him? Did he harass him?
If he is scared of who is recording his car, he should just ignore him.

His major mistake was rolling down his window to reveal his identity, he should have just ignored the content creator who was taking a video of his car especially since the car had no number plate undecided

Now because of this indiscretion he will spend the next 1 month explaining... grin

Why did he stop? Someone is filming your car ... you feel threatened... will reach for your protection ...in this case a gun/stun torch ... but will you stop at the perceived threat? ... and roll down the window? That makes no sense. What makes sense is he is a clout chaser ... it is not enough for the Range Rover to be possibly featured on SM ...but it does ...the world must know it is his RR . Clout chaser period.

More troubling ... is he above the law? I thought it was illegal to drive a vehicle without plates.

You knew that the guy was a content creator because you were told after the event. Do you think pastor Paul knew he was a content creator. What if the guy was an informant for kidnappers, informant to car snatched a, informant to assassins. The list goes on. So he needed to be on guard

Hire body guards if you must, i saw escorts in the video; which likely belonged to him.

If you break the law in the name of personal security be prepared to be hit with the big stick. No one in Nigeria is above the law!

Aside that what does a bonifide man of God have to fear in this world, it tells you that Heaven is not his home undecided

No dey quote "no one is above the law" abeg e dey vex me.
Animal farm quote "All animals are equal, but some are more equal that the others" that's the Nigerian adopted quote. Cary gun male sanator carry gun let's see the reactions.

All the anti-christ of now, who often want to write about men of God in order to weaken the heart of men to gospel and the church or Christianity, and some so called Christians who without understanding that these people are now been used as anti-christ to attack the kingdom of God. Have you no knowledge of how antichrist works?

What do you say about herdmen who carry ak47 around and some person say it's for defence.

Why don't these so called antichrist occupy the internet with the herdmen carrying ak47 all the time?

Gullible Christians here to are without the wisdom to see the tricks of devil against the kingdom.

The pastor has all right to defend himself cos he worth it.

You guys should channel your efforts to herdmen and bandit carrying ak47 all over Nigeria killing innocent farmers and traveller than trying to attack the pastor.
Vulcan24(m): 5:19pm On Jun 08
Pls allow him be ! Let him carry AK47!

I saw a video of vdm connecting all sorts of assumption into the incidence!

I realized now that popular people are now subject of blackmail and cyber bullying just fir the mere fact that Nigeria is impoverished by their govt and looking for who to crucify ?!

Pls allow ppl be and live as they fit! Why is he videoing a car on the road. I was at the ecowas with the president I don't bother recording!

Why are Nigerians always looking for an opportunity to be rich and famous?

Then he should be bold enough to say what he was holding.

If it wasn’t a firearm, was it an offensive weapon? Yes! What is a pastor doing with that? Aside that there were too many things wrong in the video to show his level of pride and impunity.

Beware of people that give you half-stories to try to play on your intelligence and vindicate themselves, they are fundamentally dishonest people.

It is something he wants to address in church to draw traffic to his church like a content maker? Smh.

If a so called esteemed “Man of God” is carrying an offensive weapon then we the ordinary citizens should be carrying machine guns angry but I assure you that Nigeria has not gotten to that.

Authorities better move fast to address that negative sensitization by this so-called man of god, before people under his influence that don’t know right from wrong think this negative example is worthy of emulation angry

The stun torch and like items for all reasons are captured under the firearms law as weapons so he's not out of the bush here

While I understand Pastor Paul Adefarasin’s dismay over the viral clip and the resulting speculation, I believe the situation could have been more effectively deescalated with a more transparent clarification. In his address from the pulpit, he strongly denied carrying a firearm and that’s very important. However, the fact that he chose not to disclose what exactly he was holding leaves room for ongoing speculation. In an age where perception often becomes reality, especially with viral content, silence on specific details tends to invite further scrutiny. If it was a Taser or any legally permissible item, saying so would not only have quelled doubts but also demonstrated a commitment to openness. It's not just about refuting a rumor; it's about replacing ambiguity with clarity. That’s especially crucial for public figures, particularly faith leaders whose actions are often under a microscope. I do agree with him that many bloggers capitalize on controversy, often at the expense of truth and context. But that’s all the more reason why transparency is the best defense. His assertion that the church is under undue attack will remain debatable but in such moments, precision in response becomes even more essential, not just for damage control, but for modeling integrity and leadership. So yes, he made a strong case, but it would have been far more compelling had he simply said what it was.
