Yesterday in my community, a lady reported that her husband assaulted her.

Now in my community, slapping, attracts a fine of 50k.

Fighting attracts a fine of 100k, 24 stroke of the cane and 1 carton of beer.

Threats of any sort attracts 100k and 1carton of beer.

Back to my story, the husband was arrested and whipped 24 stroke, and was made to pay a fine of 50k and 1 carton of beer.
And afterwards was sternly warned by the youths never to lay a finger on his woman again.

He was given a bottle of beer and told to take his wife home. grin

Men in the house, how would you live with your wife after such humiliation?

What amused me was the type of men and youths that came out to embarrass and advised the man on how to govern his home. grin

Sorry no pictured is allowed when there is public beating in the community otherwise I risk 150 strokes and 200k fine.

Wow! I like this your community. This should be adopted nation-wide. Some men (a small minority) beat their wives constantly. A woman should NOT live in fear and walk on egg shells in her own home!

I know this is front page straight.

I am proud to say my community is the safest in Cross River State.

After years of endurance in the hands of criminals, and cultists, the entire LGA decided to say enough is enough!
We rose up as one and put a stop to criminality and violence. Gang were sent on exile. Notorious cultists were burnt alive. And so many rules to guide against violence in any form was enacted.

We live in peace here.

No. We don't handle divorce.
Our laws says no hitting. No slapping. No fighting. No assault. Be it wife, husband or anyone else.

Send her on an errands to the market to cook something special that will surely keep her in the market for a while
Then I order a bus that can move my basic personal effects like clothes documents credentials and other paper works. And that would be the last time she sets her eyes on me.

A man should never beat a woman talk less of his wife but certain things will never happen to me and remain the same... Never.....

Your community wan do U.S.A and U.K angry

Anyways,if I were to be in that man's shoe,(God forbid),what I'd have done would have been leaving with her,and then show her the exact route that leads to her father's house afterwards angry

As much as wife beating should never be condoned, I think the community took this too far. The man should send the woman back to her father's house. That's the best solution.

Seun, has it gotten this bad that once someone mentioned Tinubu name under comment section, your mods banned the person from commenting on nairaland for few hours even if the person never insulted anyone. I hope you are aware of this Seun ?

Well, assaulting her is never a just cause firstly. So I wouldn't blame her for reporting him.

He should have just told her to go to her father's house, period.

Good afternoon, well-meaning Nigerians; I am typing this post amidst severe pain and serious hunger.

With the current hardship in our dear country, how will a poor but hardworking person like me survive?

I am confused and in trauma..

I am 29 years old and an O.LEVEL holder. I had a car accident two months ago and got bedridden as a result of a broken leg that I suffered in the accident.

The car accident threw me into trauma and hunger, as I am unable to go out to hustle for my daily bread as I used to do before.

As I am typing this, I have yet to eat food since yesterday morning other than the water that I have been drinking to gain some strength. This is due to the fact that I am totally broke now. I spent the last #60,000 I have on me on medication. I am in Lagos, but my parents are far back in Kwara State, Ilorin, my hometown. I am thinking of relocating back home to get better treatment, but the issue is, I still do not have the transportation fare.

Please, daddies, mummies, and my brothers and sisters on Nairaland forum, please help me; hunger is doing a very deadly work in my body.

I live at Number 34, Adewale Dauda Street, Eleko Town, Ibeju Lekki, Lagos State.

If you live close to me and want to visit me, my phone number is 091 353 109 33 and that's my address. Please help me.

Below are my bank details; please have mercy on me.

Bank: OPay
Number: 91 353 109 33
Name: Babatunde Sikiru Yisa

May God bless you more and grant you all your heart desires as you help me.

May God turn our situation in Nigeria from its current state to a better state that will bring joy, happiness, and riches to you, me, and all Nigerians. Ameen

See pictures of my broken leg on this Nairaland link https://nairaland.isosite.org/8444907/president-tinubu-watching-governor-eno/3#135652474

Please help me, may God continue to protect you and your family. May you never lack any good things in life.

I also wonder how husbands whose wives used policemen to arrest and locked in the past live with their wives.
Your laws are good, however, hope you have laws to deal with women whose tongues are weapon of destruction against their husbands!

I believe your community is doing very well in order to promote unity and peace in a country where the government has woefully failed in all sectors, especially security. We only have weak institutions who do little or nothing to enact laws coupled with delayed court cases or flagrant disregard of court decisions and very corrupt security establishment

He will have no choice than to deal with the humiliation because he should have thought of it before "humiliating" his wife whom he married in his own home.

I wanted to ask, aside your community, has violence, cultism, etc also reduced across cross river state too, or is this in regards to only your community?
