Federal lawmaker, Hon. Obi Aguocha, the Member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia North/South Federal Constituency, has reiterated his firm stance on the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, stating that his advocacy is deeply personal and morally driven, not politically motivated.

Speaking during a live interview on STANDPOINT, aired on Rapid FM and ABN TV, Aguocha disclosed that nearly 180 lawmakers have already co-signed a petition to President Bola Tinubu demanding Kanu's unconditional release.

He narrated his long-standing relationship with Kanu, saying, “We grew up in the same community and attended the same schools. This is not just political. It is personal, and it is a matter of justice.”

Aguocha hailed the recent court ruling which struck out coerced statements against Kanu as a landmark victory. “The court recognized that statements obtained under duress are invalid. That was a major win,” he said.

Addressing speculation that his stand was politically calculated ahead of 2027, Aguocha responded: “If helping my brother gain freedom is politics, so be it. Even if I don’t run again, I will feel fulfilled knowing I did my part.”

Nnamdi Kanu was first arrested in October 14, 2015, for terrorism, speaking against nepotism and other issues that were actually wrong in the corntree, and was arrested for it. He was then released on bail, to be coming to court from his house before his home was raided by the corntree's army (the same government), then he fled the corntree for safety. They couldn't try him through his lawyer in absentia and convict him. They went again and kidnapped him from Kenya without legal extradition procedures in June 2021. And for a total of 10 years now, a WHOLE GOVERNMENT OF A CORNTREE haven't be able find tangible evidence to convict him for the terrorism but kept him in detention. The corn-tree well?
