The top picture was clearly not taken in Lagos. The background does not match the foreground. There is something bogus about that picture. The architecture of the houses in the background is distinctly European, and NOT typical of Nigerian houses. Belatedly I see this is a joke post. Good one, though 1 Like |

If the actual distance is 750km and the old route is less than 760km, what is the benefit of this road? Except i am missing something crucial, they say the new route will take 7 hours but the old one thats only 5km longer is taking 13 hours. If it was a rail route now, i will understand. Na waa ooo.

DeepSight: Just like some of you said the Dangote refinery will not be completed in 40 years. This road is obviously going to be completed before the second term of the president. The terrain is difficult but some sections are going to be faster than others. |
DeepSight(m): 1:44pm On Jun 02 |
ElSudani: The Dangote Refinery was a private project, this road is public. The Dangote Refinery was handled by proper contractors, this road was awarded to a convict in two countries - Gilbert Chagoury, convicted in the USA and Switzerland for fraud. The Dangote Refinery was necessary, this road is completely unnecessary. The Dangote Refinery went through all regulatory and compliance processes, this road was awarded without reference to Public Procurement Guidelines. The Dangote Refinery has no conflict of interest, this road is riddled in nepotistic corruption. 3 Likes |

DeepSight: The road is not 100% public my friend. Get your facts right. A road connecting several states is not necessary! By what reason sir? |
DeepSight(m): 2:00pm On Jun 02 |
ElSudani: It is still public by whatever measure, even if there is an alleged component of private investment. Mind you N1 Trillion of Public funds have been paid upfront - and the so-called private component will probably be a ruse, going by the antecedents of the contractor and his partner in crime, the president. A road connecting several states is not necessary! By what reason sir? Because there are already existing roads to all of those places. 1 Like |

DeepSight: What are these antecedents? What are the projects they abandoned midway? "Because there are already existing roads to all of those places." This is not a valid argument at all, it is impossible to have one road connecting everywhere. |
DeepSight(m): 2:24pm On Jun 02 |
ElSudani: By antecedents, I refer to their corruption and guile. "Because there are already existing roads to all of those places." The significant towns are all reachable by road currently, I dont know if you are referring to every last hamlet. 1 Like |
ElSudani: 2:29pm On Jun 02 |
DeepSight: Let us assume they are corrupt like you said but there's no record of any project they started and then abandoned midway. Therefore, there's no valid reason to believe this road will not be completed in 50 years like you said. The significant towns are all reachable by road currently. You should ask the people in the coastal states. |
DeepSight(m): 2:45pm On Jun 02 |
ElSudani: Its interesting that you are silent about the contract being awarded to someone convicted of fraud in two countries and the fact that procurement processes were not followed - and I should add that the funds were not appropriated as required by law. |
ElSudani: 2:51pm On Jun 02 |
DeepSight: Those points are moot since the project is already ongoing. The only reasonable option you have to stop it and make sure it is not completed is if you can get a court injunction based on the evidence of corruption at your disposal. That I cannot argue with. |
