Unfortunate. Was wondering how they recovered the bodies so quickly... but noticed in the video it's a narrow river. I guess they didn't know how to swim and didn't know to manage a canoe. The locals are calling on the FG to provide transportation... how will that work to avoid a situation like this? We need to start looking at what we can do first and not the FG. Let's not take unnecessary risks or underestimate the power of rivers....even if we are good swimmers. May they R.I.P

A close friend of mine ... hailed as an excellent swimmer died ...drowned.... at a point in the river where he always swam. People who were there while he was "showing off his swimming skills" thought he was showing off his diving skills when he went under. They got concerned when he was taking a bit too long to resurface. This attracted a crowd ... including another friend who after being told the reason for the crowd immediately dived in and brought him up .... dead. Happened yearsss ago ...but to this day he gets angry at the crowd for not doing anything .Was most likely caught in a whirl pool. Water we can see ...undercurrents we can't. Never estimate the power of rivers ...big or small.

I hardly attend occasions since it almost cost my life 3 years ago. Despite what happened to me the occasion went on as though nothing happened. Occasions are not mandatory especially if it can go on well without your presence. If it is not extremely convenient you won't see me. On my day(occasion) if you don't come no issues too.

Terrible lose....Junior pope comes to mind...the best way to prevent such scenario is to use lifejacket....if u have to cross a river just insist on using life jacket, if u can afford it buy one for yourself....

or simply carry an inflated tube
