Only wasteful minds call buying books or reading them a waste because no knowledge is a waste.I met a lawyer in the bid of promoting reading culture and she referred to buying physical books to read as a waste. But the fact is,how many people today in Nigeria successfully read online for a long time without distractions from pop-up adverts, messages, notifications and the Likes?Great knowledge are hidden in the foliages of books.

Creamypie: I fell in love with reading anything from my primary school days. I read anything that is a book! I was reading this D. O. Fagunwa's book. I think I was in 100 level or so. I've been reading it for a while. One of the days, I was alone and reading in my room. The author was a maestro at using descriptive words to bring events to life. You'd be transported into the world of the story, such that you're almost one of the characters tagging along with the others in the story. You'd imagine things in your mind's eye... I was reading and was in this state when fear overwhelmed me by the gripping scene the author was painting. I got so scared that I smashed the book against the wall, and ran out as fast as my legs could carry me. I couldn't enter the house again until I got company. I later finished the book, but I had to encourage myself a lot to be able to do that. Such writing prowess! I couldn't bring myself to read Soyinka's translation though. I got busier. Rest in peace, Sir Ngugi wa Thiong'o. 2 Likes |

Walai:I The old man and the Sea by Ernest Hemingway. It was used in my Literature class in Class 1. It didn't compare with any of the books listed. African literature is way richer than others. |

israelmao: True talk 👍. Today's Gen Z -Crowds- don't read or eager to acquire acquired Knowledge but want Rights in virtually everything. Surely, they need Todo more for the World 🌎 than to ordinarily be claiming what they can defend. The World is built on Deep Acquisition of Knowledge, Wisdom and Understanding in all aspects of human endeavours and it only for those who wants to improve on it,not of rights. |

Next time, try to read and understand English. I typed: "after Soyinka and Achebe" which means those two were ranked before him.
