Simpleshafee:Sharrap... Which traffic rules? The same police break here and there? Even if an individual breaks traffic rule, what business is that with discharging his arm? Very soon they'll get it very hot. If you're one of them. |

Both the man & the officer should face the judgement. Why would he be driving so reckless because of offense money can solve. I doubt if he would have stopped if he has knocked down & killed someone while evading. And to the officer, must he shoot? Can't they just get the vehicle number & press charges afterwards... May the soul of the innocent boy rest in peace... |

I was also thinking what if the driver kidnapped somebody at the back. Is that how the police will shot the car from the back. Police should learn how to take down tire instead

Dogalmighty17:....no the police did not lie, the driver was driving dangerously against traffic and could have killed one of the officers. |
Dtruthspeaker: 9:24am On May 22 |
Iamdboss: The police have no right to shoot traffic offenders so the blame is on the police. The driver has a right to escape. |

Gbadugbakun:all those insults is actually for you because you have empty B you get to that, there are system to apprehend traffic offenders, having access to guns doesn't give you right to leather force on armless citizens, because you are a police officer or relative of police doesn't give you moral right to respond to issues without thinking faculty so you get shot today by whatever means, we should condemn you for making a mistake. NL should do well by screen out under age from this forum honestly |

Watcharena: Oga I watched the video earlier. You have only watched one part of the video clip most likely edited. What happened before this scene, is what you cannot tell right?. However, not enough justification to shoot indiscriminately. Many guys in NPF are not properly trained, that's just the truth. There are 1001 ways better to apprehend the man. Unfortunately, it is we the innocent unarmed citizens that continues to be at the receiving end. |

very avoidable death, if the policeman have shot in a terrorise place in north he would have been justify as disobeying traffic rules and police force order will be a red flag he just ignorantly killed an innocent boy with his stubbornness and the useless policeman shouldnt have shoot rather than shoot why not call for blocking of his ways it pained me that an innocent boy paid for the foolishness of two adults |
Konjiboii: 9:28am On May 22 |
If you watch the video you will realize this is a case of mistaken identity, the car is tinted and the driver of the vehicle was driving very reckless which any reasonable person would assume he is a criminal trying to evade arrest, how can you have a child in the car and be driving that irresponsible. I blame the driver, I hate the it it but the police weren’t lying this time on their report.

I was in Côte d'Ivoire for a few weeks this month my second visit in less than one year and this is my observation. Their police officers, who also serve as traffic wardens, typically use whistles. A few others, very few, use power bikes and carry pistol guns. I have never seen AK-47 rifles on the streets in that country, never! Even vehicles transporting cash had no visible armed escorts. This absence of heavy weaponry is reflected in the behavior of the people and the atmosphere of the society, very calm and law-abiding. When the police create an impression that we are at war, it becomes difficult for people to trust them. This friction breeds tension, and that tension spreads across the society. It’s reverse psychology: you want to control crime by placing unsupervised, frustrated, poorly-paid individuals on the streets with AK-47s. What you get is more crime, not less. The Nigerian police must be reformed. We are not at war. No more AK-47s on our streets!. It is possible to have special units that tackle organized and violent crimes, who will work discreetly and strategically behind the scenes to nip crime at its bud. Where criminals do not know who is watching or when, communities become more engaged, and the level of tension and killings on our streets will reduce. Ultimately, this will even lower costs and deliver better results. |

Watcharena: I agree with you 100% Both the Father of the child and the driver are at fault. Why would the man be trying to endanger lives with his children in the car , What example is he teaching them? My son from JSS1 would not let me rest if I ever beat a traffic light not to talk of driving against traffic. He would highlight others who are beating traffic lights as wrong, how can I , his role model, be beating traffic lights? The driver will live with the effects of his bad decisions all his life. Especially knowing we have a trigger-happy force , why would I not only commit the offence , disobey and assault the officers with my car ...that's a king rap sheet , the man is culpable and mind you , if he tries it with American police , he would likely be dead. The police man and the rest of the team are only ionate about the potential victim to extort and not ionate about the work of traffic management. while it may have been expedient to stop the errant driver who was reckless ( he may have been a kidnapper), apparently someone in the Traffic organisation car acknowledged that the man had children but not clear if the policeman knew. .........its also within the rules of engagement to use utmost caution in the discharge of firearms, why not shoot into the air , especially with the strong ricochet of AK47 , he should have been more cautious. A single AK-47 bullet fired can kill 2 people in a straight line. Ultimately, both sides will be punished ....but an innocent life had been untimely cut short. The boy is the only victim and his siblings who watched him die. The father will live with the reality that his decisions killed his son and will have to explain his actions to his surviving kids till the end of his life..... The policeman will face the music for the careless use of his weapon alone in a dingy cell; his superiors, whom he may be delivering proceeds to, will deny him. He will regret the murder of a child, and his career has ended due to his lack of discretion. Sad, sad, sad and hope we all learn lessons from this. 2 Likes 1 Share |

So police also use gun to rob people in Ibadan? They were trained in the southeast. If this were in the southeast, the police would find a Biafra flag and place ontop of the boy's corpse. He is an IPOB, Police would say. The only country in the world where unarmed separatists are shot by the armed forces. Zoo. |

What a world, how I wish it was the man that was short and not the boy, so that both unlawful father and untrained police officer that was granted a fireman unlawfully by unlawful Nigeria government can also be charge and be prosecuted by lawless and corrupted judiciary.

Nchenches: 9:47am On May 22 |
Nodogragra4me: That's no excuse for police to shoot at the vehicle. Police don't even use guns before unarmed civilians in saner societies. Police catch criminals by information not by mounting road blocks. These police people in Nigeria who mount road blocks are plain EXTORTIONISTS. |

How does shooting at a traffic offender solve the problem? here in lokoja kogi state you see govt officials selling commercial ticket with armed security personnel. Most Nigerians are just too difficult to deal with
