UPDATE: The Bishop that Ahiara rejected (fellow Igbo Catholic, but his ‘sin’ was that he was from another community in another State), has gone on to become a Cardinal, and now, a member of the Papal Conclave. 29 Likes 3 Shares |

Some people are just ignorant I am from mbaise and I know this story very well 1) a Bishop every 3 years submit 3 names to pope for his possible replacement 2) mbaise Bishop dies out of over 90 names he submitted during his time as Bishop... None was picked 3) cardinal Arinze picked someone from his place... Note awka has 300 priest and has produced 5 Bishops ... Mbaise has 800 priest and hasn't produced a Bishop 4) mbaise people rejected saying no to Bishop from. Awka.... Later accepted a Bishop from. Umuahia then later and mbaise Bishop was appointed Mbaise didn't reject him because he is not mbaise no... The rejected him because 1) it didn't follow the rule 2) they suspected foul play from. Cardinal Arinze And when Pope Francis heard the real story okpalake reigned to save face That's the Igbo spirit... We told the 1.4 Catholics we can never accept injustice and the we didn't until the right thing was done If you want to spin it go ahead 114 Likes 12 Shares |

mrvitalis:Leave story, this is not a political matter, but you still politicized it as if the Bishop was "Buhari or Tinubu" you hate with ion. Accept your fault in peace, correct it in the future. Hatred runs in your blood true true, but try to change for better. Same things apply to your government giving out jobs only to their own state 111 Likes 13 Shares |

You uproot a cooked up story with half truths and attempt to sell it as Igbo hating Igbo, and when they prove you wrong you're still here insisting on your bile. You are the real haters with hatred running in your veins. Maybe, in your DNA sef. 48 Likes 5 Shares |

mrvitalis:Continue same gesture now as you said, but just accept what people called you that hatred runs in your vein. It means people were not mistaken to call you that. It means you never surrendered your inbuilt hatred to the law of God. Obey the authority in Christ, but you refused thinking you are doing the right thing. It means you don't allow God to choose for you through his ministers, but you choose for yourselves who will serve your own interest. No wonder you guys are quenching the fire of rivaival through your selfishness. You don't want to surrender all for God to lead, you turn Bishop to "Tinubu and Buhari" that you hate with ion. Turning church to political matters. Haba, disgusting! !! 77 Likes 4 Shares |

PresidObi:Am I the one that open the thread or you are just waking up? The message is simple! Stop turning church matter to political arena. Stop quenching the fire of revival by choosing only who will serve your interest for you. Obey the authority of those God has chosen to lead as they are anointed to the work. Such misbehaviours were not found among the disciples of Christ. Don't stop the move of God, obey those who are Lords over you. Stop giving excuses for your bad behaviors. Bishops are not Buhari or Tinubu you will hate for appointing someone for you. Let them lead as the Spirit lead them. How is that difficult for you to understand? 62 Likes 2 Shares |

mrvitalis: But same Cardinal Arinze still ensured that the same baby Bishop Okpaeleke whom he has taken as a protege, was still appointed a Cardinal ahead of many senior bishops and archbishops in Nigeria that are too numerous to mention all, for instance, Archbishop Anthony Etukudoh, Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins, Archbishop Valerian Okeke. These are Bishops who manage larger diocese/archdiocese and been consecrated bishops many years before Arinze's favourite. Arinze took his favouritism and tribalism all the way to Rome because he has Influence with the late Pope Francis. We understood the logic behind how Archbishops Dominic Ekandem was appointed Cardinal by Pope John Paul II, and how same Pope later appointed Archbishops Arinze as Cardinal and much later Archbishop Okogie as Cardinal. We know the experience of Archbishop Onaiyekan before Pope Benedict VI appointed him Cardinal. So how exactly will same Cardinal Arinze that knew his own and his peer's experience before they were elevated to Cardinal, then go ahead to recommend his protege to be cardinal from a very insignificant experience as Bishop of a small diocese? Cardinal Arinze no try at all and serially abused his closeness to the late Pope, who expected he was being guided correctly. 44 Likes 2 Shares |

Carazon:The Catholic Church had rules and what mbaise people was to defend the rules of the Catholic Church and the choice of our late Bishop our father You regarded choices made by our Bishop for his replacement which is the standard rule of the Church? And want us to keep quiet because you are cardinal Arinze? Lmaooo you obviously don't know mbaise people There is an reason Nigerian Army never conquered mbaise till the war ended 4 Likes |

Throwback:Cardinal Arinze took his favoritism for awka to a new highly honest 300 priests yet they have 7 Bishops and two cardinals... If everyone stands it Mbaise would never stand it.. They can blackmail and gaslight all they want Mbaise was ready to pull out of the Catholic Church 1 Like |

sreamsense: Oga there is a rule on how to select Bishop Every Bishop goes to Rome every 3 years to submit 3 names as possible replacement... From their one must be chosen All we asked for was obey this rule of the judge and the pope agreed with us So what's exactly is your point 7 Likes 1 Share |

Carazon:Sure we don't have a problem with that... Rome. Decided based on false narrative... When Rome heard the truth they forced him to resign and appointed a new Bishop.. So Rome agreed with mbaise people So what exactly is your point 8 Likes |

mrvitalis: I did not take Cardinal Arinze's matter too seriously when Okpalaeke was rejected by the Catholics in Mbaise, even though I knew of the arguments for and against. However, when Okpalaeke was appointed Cardinal in total disregard for the work and experience of the many other Archbishops that are in Nigeria, then I realised that cardinal Arinze's favouritism for Bishop Okpalaeke has no cure. If the late Pope had decided to settle for a new Cardinal from Nigeria without relying on Cardinal Arinze's input, Bishop Okpalaeke would not have been on the list of contenders not to talk of being the one chosen of the lot. The kind of favouritism we see in the workplace, where those with less experience and contributions to the company are promoted and fast-tracked to the top ahead of those who are actually doing more for the company, is what I see with the elevation that Okpalaeke has achieved to become Bishop and then Cardinal. Some will say it is grace but all I see is politics. 19 Likes 2 Shares |

mrvitalis:Stop looking for self-consolation excuses! Are you the one to carry the names to Rome or are you teaching or saying Bishop Arinze didn't follow the rules that you must correct his as authority working for God? Everytime you submit names, you have to enter plane to Rome in other to enforce mbaizie bishop to be chosen, right? You are not ready for God's move, but your selfish move. You have no justification whatsoever. Your approach in this context not to listen to authority whoever they choose for you is never biblical. You have turned it to selfishness, hatred and political matters. Change for better! Submit all to God. Let his anointed servants choose for you, whoever they pick; God picks because they are representing God. That was why even Moses could say or do something without asking God first, and God will give go ahead because he was representing God likewise, the apostles. So, change for better, don't be stiff-necked, don't become unturned cake. Submit totally to whoever God or his servant choose for you without querying their authorities as in this context, otherwise; it will only amount to you are electing only bishops to have your interest which always affect the move of God. Such attitude is against Christ principles 19 Likes |

Throwback:What do you understand by being fair? What is not fair to you is fair to others. No one can satisfy human beings. It is you that should be patient, humble and accept whoever the authority gives to you whether you like him or not. They are oracles and mouth piece of God, whoever they choose for you is whom God blesses for you. Erase the mindset of querying their authority, otherwise; you have turned it to secular political matters. In doing this, you are quenching the fire of God among you because you only choose whom you want to listen to not whom God wants to move through to bless his people 12 Likes 2 Shares |
