PRESS RELEASE

BY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF RIVERS STATE

My dear Rivers People,

I address you today with a deep sense of responsibility and calm, as we navigate this unfortunate moment in our state’s political history.

Since assuming office as your Governor, all my actions and decisions have been guided by my constitutional oath of office and a great sense of duty.

We prioritized the protection of lives and property and ensured the continuous progress of our dear State.

Even in the face of the political ime, we have remained committed to constitutional order and the rule of law, putting the interest of our people above all else.

This was why, immediately after Mr. President’s intervention to broker peace, we did not hesitate to implement the agreed in good faith, including welcoming back commissioners who had previously resigned on their own volition.

Furthermore, we moved swiftly to comply with the Supreme Court's judgement immediately we received the certified true copy of the judgement to return the state to normalcy.

These steps were taken not for personal gains but to foster peace, unity and stability in our dear State.

Unfortunately, at every turn, of the Rivers State House of Assembly frustrated our efforts, thus making genuine peace and progress difficult.

Our priorities remained the security of lives and property and advancing the well-being and prosperity of Rivers people.

Yes, we have political disagreements, but good governance had continued, salaries have been paid, and great projects were being executed to move the State forward. Above all, Rivers State is safe, secure and peaceful under our watch.

At this critical time, I urge all Rivers people to remain peaceful and law-abiding. We will engage with all relevant institutions to ensure that our democracy remains strong and that Rivers State continues to thrive.

We have always been a resilient people, and we will face this situation with wisdom, patience, and unwavering faith in the democratic process.

God bless Rivers State. God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Sir, Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS

They pushed him into the ditch. Very slow governor that has no control over the state.

We saw how Uba handled Elrufai. And how Obiano handled Obi.

It's pretty straightforward now. Any president can sack all opposition governors.

I hate wike, check all my comments about him even when his wickedness weren’t up to this level. His the most greedy politician Nigerian had ever produced. His the worst politician ever very insensitive person, blunt with words and very shameful person. He prefers to kill and drink blood 🩸 than to protect people. Tell me exactly what wike had brought to Nigeria politics if not hate and corruption. He plays every stupid and senseless politics, politics of enmity, do or die affairs. His had never done anything good except grabbing and enriching his circles. Nigeria judiciary has failed but they have been used to kill the people.

Nigerians, until you understand that the only thing stopping a politician from walking into your homes and taking over your wives and daughters forcefully, is the LAW.

As a citizen of Nigeria, your allegiance is FIRST to the Constitution. Your loyalty is NOT to the politician, even if he is your father, because your father is human that can change and become a beast. Your assurance of safety is with the LAW.

When we ask for LAWFUL procedures to be followed, we are merely protecting ourselves and the future. We strengthen institutions.

Some of you think that we don’t have families in political offices so we attack government. We do. We have in-laws. We have uncles and we have friends. But we also understand that power is transient. Our relatives will not always be in power, therefore we insist on the right things to be done.

Akpabio set a wrong precedent with the suspension of Senator Natasha. We simply asked for the right thing to be done. But some of you couldn’t see past your male egos and ethic biases. You attacked a complainant and refused her the right to defend or prove her allegations. You laugh over weighty matters.

Today, Bola Ahmed Tinubu has effected another illegality, and people are again making arguments in its defense, simply because it is hitting the opposite side, not minding the future.

It reminds me of the late M.K.O Abiola who is said to have sponsored some of the major military coups in Nigeria. And when he eventually thought that the coast was clear for him to contest and win, his victory was scuttled by the very hands he had used to destroy other people.

Nigerians, until you learn to stand up for what is RIGHT and and LAWFUL, regardless of ethnicity, religion, tribe and party affiliations, you will all continue to suffer and be in this evil spin.

Stop enabling illegalities, they will come back to hurt you.

Rivers is a typical example of another unlawfulness that every well meaning person MUST rise up and condemn in its totality. It is a coup against the will of a PEOPLE.

When you touch oil production installations in Nigeria, you have declared a state of war against the Federal Government!

That was the grave mistake in Rivers State hence, the reason for the state of emergency.

In my opinion, the president has not erred. He has followed the Constitution however, strange the state of emergency looks to all.

He didn't remove the executive and legislative government. He simply suspended them for 6 months.

This will allow the federal government to control the escalating situation in Rivers State.

How often have you seen the state of emergency rule activated in Nigeria?

I think this is the 4th or 5th time, if I am right.

It is an extreme situation and a necessity whenever activated, it is rare.

Even still the president declares state of emergency but the state gov remains in place at worst has reduced powers
That's the constitution
Not suspension there's nothing like that

I think the President decision is too harsh and too early.
Though I may not understand what happened behind scene, but at least one more warning would have been fine.

Governor Adeleye is wiser... probably he understands better and gotten the right advice

Tinubu you can not suspend an elected Governor

You are simply covering the error up with words
The state gov has to remain but with reduced powers such that the military under instructions of the president helps to bring back order and once attained, the state resumes full control
Saying you suspend i.e put aside completely for even a few hours is unconstitutional
They were elected and at the time of the declaration of state of emergency there weren't impeached died yet as provided in the constitution.

There can't be a state of emergency and the government that mismanaged the peace, business environment, tranquility and order in the state will remain active.

Would the of the state of emergency be taking orders from the executive government of Rivers state or the Federal Government?

Hence, one of the government must be suspended to allow the other one address the challenges, restore order, peace and rule of law in Rivers state.

Go and read the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria - it provides for State of Emergency.

He didn't bulldoze the Rivers house of assembly though.

He didn't have just 3 of the house approving his budget and confirming his commisioners.

He at least pretended to be a democrat not as an unruly young man who not only does not know the law, but thinks of himself as above the law.

Ride on Sir!

The man they could not impeach.

They had to cowardly go through the back door to impose State of Emergency.

But that’s the most they can do.

After 6 months, or less, Fubara will be back on his seat and no vagabonds will ever threaten him with impeachment.

We don’t do Baba Sope politics in the better South.

And we never will.
