This confirmation came after a tour of the facility by union leaders to assess its operations.

During the visit, the Executive Vice President Downstream of NNPCL informed the delegation that the new Port Harcourt refinery is now 90% complete.

The operational status of the refinery has been a subject of controversy, with some expressing skepticism about its functionality.

The labor union delegation include representatives from the NLC, TUC, NUPENG, and PENGASSAN.

Nigerian union leaders have warned against the privatisation of the Port Harcourt refinery.

They advocated for adopting the NLNG model, where the federal government and international oil companies tly manage the facility.

Why should it not be privatised...

How many government owned cooperation are fully functional.... Profitably ?

When it goes private, the workers will be more serious and every corrupt person will be dealt with asap

Good news. As a critic of this government i commend them on this one, it is a good development. I pray they extend it to Warri and Kaduna refineries as well.
Some Ekuke are barking at me for commending the government. I am not a er of Tinubu but that doesn't mean i won't commend him if he does something right, this same refinery OBJ, GEJ and Buhari all promised to fix it but failed so why won't i be glad it has been done? I don't have anything personal against the president. You lot can go around like headless chickens and see nothing good in the government. Once again kudos to the Tinubu led istration for making this a reality, na Nigeria refinery no be Tinubu own so if you wish to be blinded by your hate for Tinubu that's your biz but don't try to force everyone to do same. Banza!

One sad reality 2023 election brought to the fore is the fact that some persons just perpetually want their country to fail. Win or lose, that shouldn't be. And we should celebrate the few wins of the so called government, even if we ain't in of them. Shalom

Strange Nigeria.

As soon as a private citizen opens the biggest refinery in Africa, suddenly the ancient public one starts working.

It is not strange. It's the political will of Tinubu's government to make it work by fire by force against all odds.

will you blame them? When the leaders said they would do something positive for the masses to benefit, at the end of the day, it's audio message.. take your time to travel to other countries and see what's happening.. Nigeria government should always stand on their words so people can believe them without thinking otherwise..

That's true but don't deny that there is an element of people actually wanting this government to fail so that they can say "good for you, shebi we told you to vote a certain person."

If not, the naysayers would actually be happy when the government proves them wrong, after all it is for the benefit of the common man if things like these work. But nope, they are all silent and bitter because their negative talk is being confronted by workings.

how has that "political will of Tinubu's government to make it work by fire by force" improved the living standard of nigerians, reduced inflation, corruption, insecurity, unemployment, budget padding, impunity, wasteful government spending, cronyism and nepotism?

how has this "political will of Tinubu's government to make it work by fire by force" improved public infrastructure and government social services to the people of nigeria?

Of what use is the refinery if we're still buying fuel over 1k per liter. Has the refinery benefitted the common in any way?

If fuel dropped to N500 I would have commended them, but since I'm still paying over 1k for it, the refinery is useless to me.

Imagine, after how many years of abandonment. What a shame, that's if it really working self, cus Nigeria company are know to always dish out lies to the foolish citizens.

Btw, they already told the masses that, refinery working or not working, it won't affect nor reduce the price of PMS, so it's a wasted effort if you reason it well.
