Tell them. I don't understand the reflexive hyper-antagonism to, and the need to counter every single word of, contrarian views. I love when people disagree with me with sound, practical analysis. Helps me check my blind spots well well.

I, too, own Oando, and no fair reading of their balance sheet and auditor's reports could see this company emerging from its mountain of debt anytime soon.

And I've started buying banks o, despite my early skepticism. But only those that have completed recapitalization and have a long runway. grin

Some Nigerian banks that have completed or are making progress in the recapitalization exercise include
Banks that have met the new capital threshold:
Zenith Bank: Successfully met the new capital requirements.
Access Holdings: Completed recapitalization requirements.
Ecobank Nigeria: Met the new capital threshold.
Lotus Bank: Successfully met the new capital requirements.
Banks raising capital:
Fidelity Bank: Raised N127 billion as part of the recapitalization exercise, being the first to enter the market.
Wema Bank :Planning to raise N200 billion in fresh capital through a Rights Issue and Special Placement Exercise.
Other banks:
Stanbic IBTC: Still in the process of recapitalization.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has set a deadline of March 31, 2026, for banks to meet the new capital requirements, which range from N50 billion to N500 billion depending on the type of license held by the bank. The recapitalization exercise aims to boost capital adequacy, increase market liquidity, and drive economic growth .

The rule of thumb in company financial statement auditing, is that the Auditor is a whistle blower weather the CFO , CEO or MD likes it or not , the auditing company has saved it reputation from be tag as acomplices by puting it out their to you in white and black.

what else do you what?
it is now your duty to protect your capital as your primary duty, because of unforseen uncertainty, which your small eyes and sense can not perceive, your will soon start to hear polictical dispute ,here and there and giving election are close by.

Your two primary duty rules are
1) Dont loss money
2) dont forget rule number one.

@streetinvestor

Paragraph 2 under material uncertainty related to going concerns is all you need to understand better what karltom and sunrise pebble were saying about oando. Even after pledging their assets, auditors are saying they won't meet up if they don't raise additional capital as it only covers 11.8% and 8.4% funding gap of the business for this year and next. Make shareholders no expect anything
till 2027.

They may start asset stripping soon

material uncertainty related to going concerns

"Material uncertainty related to going concern" is a term used in financial reporting, particularly in audit reports. It refers to a situation where there are significant doubts about a company's ability to continue operating as a going concern.

This uncertainty can arise from various factors, such as:

1. Financial difficulties
2. Liquidity issues
3. Significant losses
4. Dependence on external funding

When auditors identify material uncertainty related to going concern, they highlight it in their report to alert stakeholders about potential risks.

This report has just confirmed that OANDO is a walking corpse!

My exit strategy is to allow the management pump the price ahead of their planned equity raise and exit my investment in the moribund company….

Those going concern issues raised by their external auditors cannot and should never be ignored. The truth is, the company has been badly managed and the entire management needs to go.

my " BUY " recommendation on MeCure Industries Plc is based on a combination of strong fundamentals and prudent financial management. Despite the repayment of a significant portion of their commercial paper obligations, the company has remained profitable, posting a ₦568.71 million net profit in Q1 2025 and delivering 65% year-on-year revenue growth.

This reflects a resilient business model, disciplined capital allocation, and a management team that has demonstrated both operational efficiency and strategic foresight. The company's ability to grow earnings while meeting debt obligations is a key indicator of underlying strength—not just good management, but effective execution.

what are their line of productions, is their any ground breaking drugs discoveries on the pipeline , is there any drugs patient to the name of the company . Will there be found in time off health crises in fore front , just like covid 19 to be able to give sharehold returns? those are key question to be asked about the company bussines

GeneralDae:

We have to increase revenue tremendously for the borrowing to slow down. In my opinion, we should have increased VAT from 7.5% to 10% as proposed by tax reforms but law makers turned it down. Our VAT rate is one of the lowest in the world if not the lowest.

This Government has done more of domestic borrowing. In of external debts, they have only increased it by approximately 2 Billion USD to 45 Billion USD at the end of 2024 from 43 Billion USD in May 2023. It seems they are yet to access majority of those World Bank loans approved in 2024.

But, the optics is bad with some wasteful spending and the NASS keep padding budgets like they’ve always done since 1999.

we cant be talking about increase in Vat tax without considering unemployment rate in the conutry, the mass will bear the cost burden .
Employment of workable and willing labour forces is also key.

Nigeria's public debt is projected to sur N180 trillion after President Bola Tinubu's request to the National Assembly for an additional N34.15 trillion in external and domestic loans. Here's a breakdown of the loan request ¹ ²:

- External Borrowing: $21.543 billion (approximately N33.39 trillion at N1,590 per dollar), €2.193 billion, and 15 billion Japanese Yen, plus a €65 million grant. These funds will target key sectors such as:

- Infrastructure: railways and nationwide development programs

- Agriculture: to enhance food security

- Health: critical healthcare projects

- Education: nationwide development programs

- Security

Employment Generation: [/b]to promote skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and job creation

- *Domestic Bond Issuance*: N757.983 billion to settle outstanding pension liabilities under the Contributory Pension Scheme (S). This aims to:
- Improve retirees' welfare
- Boost confidence in the pension system
- Inject liquidity into the economy

The Tinubu istration argues that this borrowing plan is crucial to address the country's significant infrastructure deficit and revenue challenges. However, critics warn that the additional foreign-denominated debt may amplify currency and refinancing risks, potentially pushing Nigeria into a debt trap
