THREE NIGERIANS MAKE FORBES LIST OF 50 WEALTHIEST BLACK AMERICANS 2024

Only three Yoruba - Nigerians made it to the list Adebayo Ogunlesi, Tope Awotona, and Wemimo Abbey.

Forbes has unveiled its 2024 ForbesBLK 50 list, celebrating the achievements of the wealthiest and most influential Black Americans.

What Forbes said

Adebayo Ogunlesi, with a net worth of $1.7 billion, stands out as a pioneering force in global infrastructure investment. As chairman and co-founder of Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), Ogunlesi led the private equity firm through a transformative acquisition by BlackRock in 2024 for $12.5 billion.

Tope Awotona, the founder and CEO of Calendly, has redefined efficiency in scheduling and holds a net worth of $1.4 billion.

Wemimo Abbey, at just 32, is the youngest Nigerian on the list and cofounder of Esusu, an African fintech company addressing financial inclusion. Congratulations to them, This shows that you do not need to do anything illegal to be recognized. It does not come as a surprise that only men from the Yoruba Ethnic group made it to the list.

12 Ways To Destroy Women's Egos Instantly Without Violence

There is this saying that says, "They're Many Ways To Kill Rat Without Sharing Of Blood" meaning, they're ways to deal with situations without making issues out of it or resulting to violence.

Many relationships collapsed today as a result of the attitude of the partner which they find it irritating must especially the women/lady, this has been LeadNaija major concerns and done some research and eventually come up with this 12 Key tips on how to make her loyal:

1. Looking At Other Women

Yes, she needs to know that you're wide-eyed and always looking at others.

Don't be too obvious and say, "Damn, did you see that ass?". I'm not saying you have to overdo it, but when you walk with her, you can look at other girls.

Right now, we're not trying to fix you up with this girl.

She's not a good girl because her ego is too big. She doesn't know what she's worth, she thinks she's too important.

No, she needs to come down. So you can look at other women. Don't comment, but you can look.

2. Never Argue With Her And Never Get Emotional.

Yes, as soon as you start arguing, it's because you're getting too involved.

You're afraid of losing her.? Women will know you're invested because if you don't care, you're not arguing, Don't raise your voice, don't shout, don't get emotional.

She has to be cooperative if she wants to engage with you because you set your boundaries and you're like, there's no drama around me.

If she wants to engage in this kind of behavior, she needs to go home.

3. No Validation:

We don't give compliments, we don't talk about how good she looks or how beautiful she is.

No, we don't do that. You never put a woman on a pedestal, especially if she doesn't deserve it.

You can't give her free compliments and boost her ego. If you're already complaining that it's too high, keep doing it and you'll see it increase by the second.

All men do it, so what you say isn't really going to hit the nail on the head, especially if you're talking about her looks and she's a pretty girl.

4. Never Ask For Commitment:

No, she's the one who has to ask for commitment and the relationship, who has to ask for you to get more involved.

She's the one. Because if she sees that he's too involved, all of a sudden, she doesn't love you anymore.

So be careful not to ask for commitment. You don't have a problem with the current situation.

It doesn't bother you, because in a way, by asking her to be your girlfriend, you're showing her that you think she's what's best for you.

5. Dress Smart In Public:

Women are used to being looked at.

You know, if I'm walking around with my man, people usually look at me, but if you're well dressed, you're stylish, you're elegant, all that, women will start looking at you.

Even men can look at you and say, "Oh, you're well dressed.

Wow." You know, you're drawing attention away from her.

It's going to upset her because women aren't used to that.

Her ego is going to be hurt. Now she's going to realize who she's with and she's going to try to secure her place.

6. Don't Look Forward To Getting To Know Her:

If you're too eager to spend time with her and ask, "Oh, what about your life?" No.

Again, for this type of woman, you're stimulating her ego.

She's thinking, "Ooh, I look good today, I'm a god." No. Don't text with emojis because emojis show emotions.

So, no. When you text her, ask her out. Yes, you want to see her, you have to ask her, but don't act excited.

"Oh my God, I can't wait to see you, can we go?" No. Act normal. "Hey, do you want to go out? Yes or no?" Don't ask it like that, obviously, but you know what I mean.

7. This One Is Good

Don't be impatient to have sex with her.

I'm telling you, a woman who senses that you're thirsty and want sex at all costs, that's when she's going to play with you.

That's when she's going to use her sex as a weapon and as a monetary thing.

"Oh, you want sex? Okay, buy me that. You want some sex? Take me there."

No! You have to act like you don't care about pussy.

Tomi Adeyemi, a Nigerian-American author, has released her critically acclaimed Young-Adult Fantasy book, titled ‘Children of Blood and Bone.’

Adeyemi, who released the novel on March 6, landed a seven figure book-and-movie deal with Hollywood Fox studios for `Children of Blood and Bone,’ her first novel, also described as a “Black Lives Matter-inspired fantasy novel,” a year ago.

Fox 2000, which purchased the film rights before the novel was released, was so impressed by the 24-year-old’s writing style that they tagged the project as being as successful as its other YA franchises, Twilight and Maze Runner.

Almost a year before it hit shelves, the novel was making headlines. In March 2017, it was reported that Adeyemi had earned a seven-figure book deal for her young-adult trilogy.

Ms Adeyemi, the daughter of a Nigerian medical doctor and hospice trader, was born in the U.S. and currently lives in San Diego.

Adeyemi, who has been referred to as the next J.K. Rowling (writer of the successful Harry Potter series), created an epic tale of an oppressive world that a lot of black people can relate with.

She hinged her characters, their conversations and habitats on the rich culture and traditions of her indigenous Yoruba culture.

The book follows the protagonist ‘Zelie’, who at six years old watched the king’s guards hang her mother on a tree outside her home.

Yet over time, their population dwindled and they became Orïsha’s minority. Magic became a thing to loathe, dark skin transformed into a thing to hate.

Ten years after the raid that killed her mother and took away magic forever, Zélie Adebola has one chance to bring magic back.

Fox Studios noted that it was so impressed with the 24-year-old’s writing that it decided to obtain the film rights before the novel was even released.

The film company hopes it will be as successful as its other young adult franchises ‘Twilight’ and ‘Maze Runner’.

Adeyemi who is based in San Diego, California, is also a creative writing coach.

An elated Adeyemi took to her twitter handle @tomi_adeyemi to write: “The wait is over!!! Children of Blood and Bone finally out in the world.

After graduating from Harvard University with an honors degree in English literature, she received a fellowship that allowed her to study West African mythology and culture in Salvador, Brazil.

Bolaji Badejo (23 August 1953 – 22 December 1992) was a Nigerian visual artist[1] and actor who became known as one of Hollywood's most unlikely on-screen performers[2] in the role of the Alien in Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien, his only film role.
Born in Lagos, Badejo was of Yoruba descent  and was the son of the director general of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.  He first studied in Nigeria, then in the United States before finally moving to London to specialize in graphic design. He was eventually discovered in a Soho pub by a member of Scott's casting team.  Standing 6 ft 10 in tall,  he was chosen to play the part of the Alien due to his height and "very long legs".

Dripping with menace, the alien in Ridley Scott's 1979 space horror classic was quite literally the movie's break-out star.

With an extendible jaw that salivated acid, it wasn't enough that "Alien" could capture and kill; it wanted to use humans unfortunate enough to cross its path as a surrogate womb as well.

Yet while enthusiasts know much about the film's cast -- its heroine Ripley, played by Sigourney Weaver, and the unfortunate crew of the spaceship Nostromo -- the man behind the titular creature was nearly as elusive as his enduring on-screen character.

Alien" was sold with the strap line "In space no one can hear you scream." Fittingly the actor in the suit, Bolaiji Badejo, was largely silent in his part in one of the 20th century's most celebrated films.

The six-foot-10-inch tall Nigerian is no longer with us, dying from sickle cell disease in 1992. But by talking to those who knew him on set we can piece together the story of one of Hollywood's greatest villains -- and one of its unlikeliest actors.

I wonder if Bolaji knew how important the role was... Perhaps he did after the event. I doubt it at the time."

Badejo wouldn't have been the only one -- when Sigourney Weaver signed up, she thought "Alien" was a "scrappy little independent film." No one knew the film would go on to make over $100 million at the box office from a $11 million budget, or win an Academy Award for Allder, Giger and their team for Best Visual Effects.

P/s : unlike the gangly and lanky world champion of borrowing , Nigerians are a people to be proud of, so long as you don't originate from the futa jallon mountains .
Insightful.

Bolaji Badejo acted in a 1979 Hollywood movie... and Pa Orlando Martins an indigene of Lagos Island acted alongside the actor and former U.S. President, Ronald Reagan in a 1950s Hollywood movie.

While the aircraft was being recorded from the ground, a voice on the ground could be heard screaming, "Oh my God, it's on fire."

According to an Atlas Air spokesperson, the aircraft faced an engine malfunction, and the crew, following standard procedures, skillfully returned to Miami International Airport. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue promptly responded to the situation, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

CASHEW NUTS TRADING.. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.

CASHEW NUT is an agro export crop. Though active to South America, it is cultivated in some parts of West, Middlebelt and Eastern Nigeria. Areas like Ogbomosho, Ilorin, Oyo, Anyigba, Enugu, Lafia, Keffi etc.

The cashew nut tree is mostly cultivated for its nuts: the raw cashew nut is gray in color with about 3mm thick shell, inside this shell is the edible kernel covered by a light brown skin. It is either exported as raw cashew nut, i.e. in-shell or as processed cashew nut kernel in special packaging.

Most raw cashew nut is exported to India and
Vietnam while the processed cashew kernel is
exported to Europe and America being the largest consumer in the world.

The crop season in Nigeria is from February - May. But trading is usually all year round, some traders usually store the raw cashew nuts and sell when it is out of season and scarce.

HANDLING.
A raw cashew nut that looks good on the outside may have bad kernel inside. The yield of the kernels, percentage of defective, average size of the nuts and moisture content are used to determine the quality of the nuts, which usually determines the price a buyer may offer for any raw cashew nut.
Hence effort should be made to improve or
conserve the expected good quality derived from proper handling.

THE FOLLOWING GOOD PRACTISE CAN HELP TO IMPROVE QUALITY OF CASHEW NUTS.

Do not harvest or pluck unripe cashew nuts because the kernel may be shriveled or immature. Hence, only mature and ripe cashew nuts should be harvested and this be done daily.

Do not let the nuts remain on the ground for more than a day before gathering to avoid long with soil moisture, sprouting and deterioration e.g. decay.

Sundry the harvested nuts as soon as possible for two or three days depending on the intensity of the sun.

Sundry on a clean surface and should be lightly spread (not higher than 3 inches) and turned regularly to allow uniform dryness.

Do not expose dry cashew nuts to moisture. This is a major requirement for agricultural commodities.

Use only jute bags to bag raw cashew nuts.
Do not heap it un-bagged or in plastic containers to avoid deterioration especially if not properly dried.

Do not bag it in poly-propylene bags.

QUALITY STANDARD.
Cashew nuts meant for export must be thoroughly dry and reasonably free from extraneous matter such as sticks, stalks and other vegetable matter other than cashew nuts. It must also be free from stones.

Total impurities (stones, sticks, stalks and other vegetable matter) shall not exceed 0.5% of 1kg sample analyzed.

NUT COUNTS:
170 – 180 ……………….. EXCELLENT
181 – 190 ……………….. VERY GOOD
191 – 200 ……………….. GOOD
201 – 210 ……………….. MIDDLE
211 – 220 ………………. LOW MIDDLE
221 – 230 ………………. LIMIT ACCEPTABLE
ABOVE 230 ………………. POOR.

Note: 170 – 210 nut count is usually the benchmark for exporting raw cashew nuts. But some importers may not be willing to buy RCN that is above 200 nut counts.

In Nigeria, the nut count per 1kg sample varies from zone to zone. While zones like Ogbomosho has between 170 and 180/185, kogi – 190 to 205/210, ondo – 190 to 205/210, Ilorin – 190 to 205, lafia/keffi
– 200 to 210, etc.

MOISTURE.
Exportable quality shall not be more than 10%. You have to make sure the raw cashew nuts are properly sundried and the moisture content must be properly analyzed.

KERNEL OUT-TURN RATION (KOR)
It is the quality of good nut we get from 80kg of raw cashew nuts. The count is in pound per 80kg.

KOR REMARK
48 – 55 EXCELLENT
45 – 47 GOOD
40 – 44 AVERAGE
BELOW 40 LOW/POOR

DEFECTIVES
Diseased or mouldy – shall include all nuts which when cut reveal the presence of fungi growth or a milky patch or a spread of brown or black spot on the split kernel. This is often caused by high moisture for several days prior to proper dryings, wrong packing and
improper storage.

BROWN RANCID ROTTEN (BRR) – shall include all brown, rancid, rotten and discolored kernels which are light yellowish in color. This is caused by similar factors listed above.

VOID – these are nuts which show absence of
kernel, emptiness or absence of a kernel of useful size. This is probably caused by natural
malformation.

IMMATURE/SHRIVELED – shall include all nuts which when cut contain space between the kernel and the shell, shrink or contain kernel that is not fully developed. This is caused by harvesting immature nuts.

SPOTTED – shall include all nuts which show the presence of a black or brown spot on the kernel.
This is caused by insect bite at the early stages of the development of the nuts.

INSECT DAMAGE (WEEVILLED) – shall include all cashew nuts which when cut show a state of insect attack or weevilled or presence of bead-like or powdery particles. Poor storage condition is responsible for this.

CHECK TEST FOR QUALITY
Carrying out a quality check test on cashew nuts like every other agricultural export produce begins with proper sampling. Samples shall be drawn from not less than 30% of consignment, sample shall be
properly mixed, reduced and from which 1kg
sample is drawn for analysis which include
moisture, nut count, defectives and finally KOR.

QUALITY IMPROVEMENT METHODS:
The quality of a bad cashew nut consignment can be improved by hand picking.

HAND PICKING – means picking or removing all suspected cashew nuts such as very small nuts, light weight nuts apparently rotten, broken or wounded nuts out of the consignment.

Dear janedonez, application of DD force to your beans farm is not the reason why your beans farm is failing. DD force is not a herbicide like others have stated so it can't burn ur beans. It's an insecticide too but it cannot perform the function you it to perform.

There lots of insects and worms that attack any beans even when planted at your backyarf/garden. So you need some certain insecticides to ward off these insects and let me mention it here that there is no single insecticide capable of maintaining your farm from production to harvest but rather you need combination of chemicals, right dose and application at the right time.

Please find below step by step actions needed on your beans farm.

Hint: you will need atleast the combination of two chemicals with these two reaction ingredients.

1. Lambda cyhalotrin.
2. Dimethoate.

Depending on the variety of beans you planted, I. E, the 40 days gestation type or the normal beans of 60 days gestation. What these numbers stand for is they will start flowering at those days, 40 or 60 days depending on the type.

So soon as you noticed the first flower in your farm, then you commence spraying immediately. Note, it's better to ward off insects from your farm than trying to kill them after invasion! Beans insects are very STUBORN. This spraying at the start should be done every four days interval. This should continue until pods are developed and getting close to maturity. This will be like around 5 to 6 weeks spraying. Thereafter, your beans will be noticeable now as in big beans pods but not dried yet. You can then increase the spraying interval to once in 7 days.

In mixing your chemicals, the lambda cyhalotrin component should be like 80/100mls per 16ltr spraying can. The dimethoate should be like 30 or 35mls per 16ltr spraying can too.

Example of cyhalotrin is lara force, judo, CYPERKING, cypermetrin etc
Example of dimethoate is dime force 40ec or sconpion.

So you should continue to spray your farm up until it start to dry and brown then you can stop spraying while you wait for harvest.

Warning: early stoppage of spraying can destroy your lovely beans farm so one or two weeks mistake can ruined all efforts put into your farm for 3months.

See here a sample of a very effective dimethoate.

You can reach me on [email protected] for further discussion on beans farming please.
Insightful.
