The Nigeria Police Force has raised an urgent security alert over a credible terrorist threat targeting churches in Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State. The intelligence has prompted a call for immediate action by religious leaders and heightened security measures across the region.

In a confidential memo dated May 20, 2025, and signed by Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Kanwai James, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Isanlu, the police advised the local chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to suspend all-night services and intensify internal security.

The document, now circulating among church leaders, reveals that criminal elements operating in Yagba East and Yagba West have concluded plans to carry out coordinated attacks on worship centres at any time.

“In view of that, you are hereby informed to intensify efforts in disseminating the information to all churches in Yagba East to be vigilant and security conscious in order to avert their nefarious activities,” the statement reads.

Churches have been advised to suspend night vigils and deploy internal security teams, including the Boys Brigade and other volunteer groups, during services. The directive emphasizes the need for immediate vigilance and activation of all safety protocols.

The Police, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), vigilantes, and local hunters, have reportedly begun intensified surveillance and patrol operations, especially during worship hours.

Efforts to reach CSP Kanwai for further clarification were unsuccessful, as calls to his phone went unanswered.

The alert comes amid a disturbing rise in kidnappings and violent crimes across the Okun region in Kogi West. Notably, a 90-year-old traditional ruler and a 76-year-old retired army major are still in captivity following recent abductions.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the nearest security agency.

I don't know how long it will take some people before they outgrow these things.

Still waiting for the day people will realize that all these religions are all made up.

Okay, vote for a leader who will industrialize our nation, and raise our tax to gdp ratio so that we can have a police force with a budget of at least 20 trillion naira that can be effective in the urban and rural areas....and we can have enough jobs , and we can earn money from exporting maufactured goods and services.

Instead, you guys voted, in the last election, for people who ie...tinubu, obi and atiku had no idea about how to get more money beyond oil dependency.

We grumble year in and out, yet we don't do anything different every election. We complain about how bad things are, yet vote for leaders who give us free stuff. Or promise free stuff.

And there are a lot of countries with minor and major terror issues. Not just Nigeria.

There are no terrorists in our country since ebilokan made Jonathan a one term president (OTP).

People should stop damaging the reputation of APC IntegriThief leaders looters with these fake news stories of terrorism after a decade of change.

Emergingnation:
Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

same thought from here. now is it for worshipers to avoid Church, panic or curtail the situation themselves.

this show you how poor our security outfits are when it comes to intelligence on all fronts. how Intel do they have on terrorism and insurgency in the country.

who and who has been on their watch list, I doubt they have all this!?

This is not right.

Isaiah 57:20-21 & Isaiah 48:22
20 But the wicked are like the tossing sea, which cannot rest, whose waves cast up mire and mud.
21 “There is no peace,” says my God, “for the wicked.”

Neo-black Problem: Must Blacks Be Ruled by Whites in Order to Prosper?

In short, the neo-black dilemma may be framed as follows: is it better to live under white rule without political dignity but with basic life-sustaining standards for many;

or to live under black rule with illusory political dignity and without basic life- sustaining standards for the majority?

The path forward for Africa lies in cultivating higher and adequate levels of personal and communal agential integrity as well as full personal responsibility and productivity. Not to mention creativity (including epistemic creativity), productive justice (such as merit and freedom), harmony and reconciliation at local and international levels, and a proper domestication of capitalism and other related values and institutions.

Africa must stop wasting her time on dreams of socialism because it is a system of wealth distribution primarily. Whereas, capitalism is a system of wealth creation primarily, and wealth has to be produced before it can be distributed.

how will people being alert prevent the terrorists from attacking?
