Are these people serious?
So they want a UK or US - based blogger (for instance), to open physical offices in Nigeria so that they could harass them when they expose their corrupt and nefarious activities. Shame!
It wont happen
Until you are resting in your house and see an AI generated video of you raping a goat, spreading on the internet, you will know the reason behind this act

Very good, if we don't regulating bloggers they will ignite Nigeria on fire, even bloggers must be responsible and able for their actions.
Do you control the internet?
How would they control a blogger based in Ghana or Kenya? Or a Nigerian blogger that is based in US or South Africa?

We are very silly I this country. Where do bloggers have physical offices? blogging can be a hubby or a professional work.

We haven't had legislation on more important issues to rid this country of corruption and lack of ability.

The senate president has thrown more light to the bill. Because do you want bloggers to have physical address in state capitals?

bosschinalu:
Oh, so now they want social media platforms to have physical offices in Nigeria? Is that really the battle we should be fighting, Senator Nwoko? While we, the youth, are starving for jobs, opportunities, and meaningful reforms, they’re busy chasing shadows, chasing after foreign companies who don’t care about our poverty or broken systems.

Where are the policies that tackle unemployment?

Where is the bill that addresses the abysmally low minimum wage?

You want ability, Senator? How about ability from our government for the billions being wasted on ‘phantom’ projects and the resources we continue to mismanage while our youth are struggling? You talk about economic losses, but the real loss here is the brain drain—our best minds fleeing to places that at least offer decent opportunities while we remain stuck in endless bureaucratic bottlenecks.

You want blogs to have offices in Abuja ? More paperwork, more bureaucracy, more of the same system that has crushed creativity and entrepreneurship. You’ve seen the power of social media in giving Nigerians, especially the youth, a platform to speak, to earn, to create. Instead of using this bill to stifle free expression, why not focus on making this country a place where the youth can thrive without being oppressed by these never-ending laws that only serve to make the already powerful even more untouchable?

Enough of the distractions! The real battle is for a better Nigeria, not one where social media offices are the priority.
Cmanforall: 5:09pm On Mar 18
So they can be tracked and dealt with if they talk against them.
Imagine Tunde having an office in Nigeria grin
ceejay80s(m): 5:09pm On Mar 18
The earlier we see these senators, house of rep and politicians as our enemies the better, they now want to silence the Internet like they did radio and tv,
E no go happen,
The earlier we revolt the better

What happens to database, what happens to your useless NIN and BVNs. Sharing country with low thinking people is the worst thing that has happened to humanity.

Does Alex Reporter or whatever his name have a ed address

The bill, titled ‘A Bill for an Act to Amend the Nigeria Data Protection Act, 2023, to Mandate the Establishment of Physical Offices within the Territorial Boundaries of the Federal Republic of Nigeria by Social Media Platforms, and for Related Matters, 2025 (SB. 650),” was sponsored by Senator Ned Munir Nwoko APC, Delta North.

... bloggers must establish a verifiable office in any of the capital cities across the country, maintain proper employee records and belong to a recognized national association of bloggers, headquartered in Abuja

The same way of creating needless agencies and associations. Someone in the village must go to the capital city to . Nigerian politicians are afraid of citizen journalism. The next thing is to ask for every Facebook and Twitter to have a ed address. We know where they are going to.

The big corporations can have offices in Nigeria. That I agree with but they don't know what blogging is. Before the social media platforms came into existence, people have blogged. Because they don't come with good intentions, this bill if ed will make them see what they never anticipated because you will chase your people to where you have no control. And the person that controls what you cannot control in your house is not your friend.

Funny people and ancient thinking...when internet and broadband us broken barriers and physical offices ..when we have virtual offices
