Only 30% Of Nigerians Pay Tax, Says Akpabio (6828 Views)
nairalanda1(m): 5:29pm On Feb 24 |
franchasng: Nigeria cannot be a tax free nation. 1.OIl revenue comes from less than 2 million bpd. For it to make sense for Nigeria it has to be at least 20 million bpd. At least. 2. Mining is unregulated in this country. Has been since indepndence. Even then, it won't yield much. Because like oil and agirc...WE DO NOT CONTROL THE PRICE. (Ghana tried to control the price of its cocoa. Buyers showed them shege. They had to promptly receive sense and cry for mercy). 3. VAT revenue last year was less than 7 trillion. Our budget this year was 54 TRILLION. Vat cannot fund our budget sufficently. 4. Tax to gdp for Nigeria is less than 10%...less than for Ghana, Niger and even Azania. And all those countries have issues like we do on budget. The truth is, we can't afford to be tax free. And calling me slave does not change things. I did not vote for APC or PDP, and they are both not my people. But if a harlot calls a dirty child dirty , bathe the child instead of abusing the harlot. |

There is no way that up to 60 million people in Nigeria pay tax, even in Lagos its not up to 30% of workers that pay, so it now farmers in Benue and traders in the East paying tax shey....Akapabio as usual does not know what he is saying.

YOUR EXELLENCY RT. HON GODSWILL APKABIO, ON BEHALF OUR FELLOW NIGERIANS THAT REFUSED TO PAY TAX, I WOULD LIKE TO SINCERELY APOLOGIZE FOR THEIR INABILITY TO PAY TAX. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE OUR NIGERIAN PEOPLE ?? DO THEY NOT KNOW THAT IF THEY PAY TAX, THERE WILL BE MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR THE GOVT TO USE AND DEVELOP NASS SO THAT THEY WILL ALWAYS GET MILLIONS EACH MONTH, WHILE THESE USELESS TAX DODGERS RECEIVE JUST N70K OR BELOW A MONTH ?? GO TO THE UK, , JAPAN, CHINA, AUSTRAILIA, SWEDEN, DENMARK,RUSSIA, THEIR LEGISLATORS RECIEVE SO MUCH MONEY PER MONTH THAT THEY NEED BULLION VANS TO TAKE HOME THEIR MONTHLY PAY. RT. HON AKPABIO, PLS DO NOT A LAW FORCING NIGERIANS TO SHOW YOU WHEN THEIR POTS OF SOUP IS RICHLY PREPARED OR NOT. INFACT, IT IS BETTER THAT NIGERIANS ARE TAXED ANY DAY THEY DID NOT EAT. IF NIGERIANS START CALLING YOU A CROOK AND YOU HAVE THEM ARRESTED, THEY WILL THEN SAY IT WAS THE DEVIL' HANDWORK. ONE-DAY ONE-DAY, THESE NIGERIANS THAT REFUSED TO PAY TAX MAY DECIDE TO STORM NASS AND TEAR YOUR HONOURABLE COLLEAGUES TO PIECES. SENATOR GODSWILL AKPABIO, WAIT FOR NIGERIANS. THEY WILL COME FOR YOU VERY SOON NB: I HAVE NEVER PAID ANY TAX IN MY LIFE BEFORE BECAUSE I HAVE NOT SEEN WHAT YOU USED THE MONEY OTHER NIGERIANS PAID BEFORE TO DO ................ I AM IN MY VILLAGE WAITING ON YOU TO COME FOR ME ... TNX

CoronaVirusPro: It's not possible. If you want Nigeria to be tax free, oil has to sell at 150 dollars per barrel, and we have to produce 2.4-10 million barrels of it daily. Then we can talk about freedom from taxes. |

completeskills: 1. Most Nigerians do not use banks. 2. At the end of the day, stamp duty is less than 1-2% of every transfer. The man is referring to things like income tax, which most of us do not pay because most of us are in the informal sector. |

Baxilexi(m): 5:45pm On Feb 24 |
Nigeria has one of the highest rates of informal taxation Iβve witnessed anywhere in the world. People with sticks and reflector vests are tax collectors and do not remit to the government. Every Nigerian pays VAT Mr Senate president, Every Nigerian using public transport (air, land and sea) indirectly pays tax Every Nigerian who owns a bank pays tax Every employed Nigerian pays tax Kindly educate yourself Mr Senate president. 1 Like |

![]() Here is a PwC report from 2016... According to the t Tax Board, there are ten Pwc report :Guess how many Nigerians pay tax and how our government spends the money . Oyedele 2016. |
nairalanda1(m): 5:49pm On Feb 24 |
Yankee101: The problem is, that the income tax revenue is paid by less than 30% of the population. (PwC put it at 13% in 2016)...working population. IMport duties are not up to 10 trillion, VAT was 7 trillion last year, and that cannot fund out budget at all. |
