The Kaduna State Police Command is trying to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of Mohammed Rabiu Inusa, a senior staff with the Kaduna Refinery and Petrochemicals Company, a subsidiary of Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC. Inusa, an acting General Manager, s, was shot dead at the Murtala Square, Kaduna at about 9:00a.m, Sunday 15 July, by persons suspected to be hired assassins. A witness to the killing told this magazine that Inusa had gone to Murtala Square for his routine early morning jogging sessions. After the exercise, he was about to enter his Honda Civic car when two persons on a motorcycle rode to the spot and shot him in the chest.

The source said he was at the other side of the square with some friends when he saw Inusa slump after he was shot. He added that the victim gave up the ghost as he was being taken to the hospital.

Inusa’s murder has triggered many questions. Prominent among them are whether he was a victim of armed robbers or assassins, and why? His younger brother, Malam Maiwashi Bala, who is the village head of Maiwashi in Kusada District in Katsina State, wondered why anybody would want to take Inusa’s life. “To the best of my knowledge, my brother never considered anybody an enemy,” he said.

Also, Inusa’s widow, Rekiya, flanked by her three children, Mohammed (, Abdul Hakeem (5) and Hawawu (2), told this magazine in tears that she never believed her husband had any enemy that could consider eliminating him.

Many people who spoke to this magazine at the deceased’s residence at Ungwan Rimi area of Kaduna also described the late Inusa as a gentleman who was God-fearing.

babasin I am always concern with this senseless killing because I what it was like growing up in Nigeria. Such thing is unheard of, I wonder is this what the new generation is resulting to? Should we as parent be very conscious of our children up bringing? are there no more moral values in Nigerians? please help me answer this questions.
