That's why I laugh at the ideas of going to heaven, without first addressing the issue of growing old

35 you said?
Good luck with that. I guess you're just a youngster. grin

Even the ogwu ego people tend to cling unto life when their time is up,no matter their age

That's a powerful reflection, and it's understandable. Seeing the realities of aging up close—especially when it's accompanied by loneliness, illness, or regret—can be sobering. But let’s reframe this with both truth and hope:

💬 Yes, Aging Can Be Hard—But It Doesn’t Have to Be Suffering
You’re not wrong. Aging, especially in environments lacking good healthcare, systems, or purpose, can look like suffering. But that’s not the whole story.

The real issue isn’t age—it’s how we age.

What makes aging painful is:

Regrets.

Isolation.

Unfulfilled purpose.

Poor health from years of neglect.

But when a person lives intentionally, builds relationships, guards their body and mind, and leaves impact—it’s possible to grow old with grace, not just grey.

🌱 Aging Is Proof That You Lived
Think about this:

Every wrinkle tells a story.

Every grey hair is earned.

Every year means you survived what many didn't.

Growing old shouldn't be feared—it should be prepared for.

🧭 So You Said: “As long as I fulfill purpose and attain destiny, I’m okay.”
And that’s exactly right.

But don’t just aim to die fulfilled—aim to live full and age fulfilled too.

So here’s the challenge:

Live with urgency, but not fear.
Build your legacy now, so your old age won’t be empty.
And as you help old people now, let it teach you what to avoid and what to prioritize.

Aging is not suffering—it’s the mirror of how we lived. If you live with depth, discipline, and direction, you’ll age with dignity. You’ll sit in old age with stories, not regrets. That’s the real goal.

What will money do for you at old age? Because chances are you'll still be alone and lonely with your money while your children and grandchildren will be too busy with their own lives to make time for you.

They'll be just waiting to hear news of your demise so that they can benefit from your life insurance and inherit your assets.

Exactly, this is what most people don't realise
Money may not be enough to save you

Who told you, you’d be lonely at old age when you have money? Haven’t you seen how people (old and young) rally around old rich people? If you have money at whatever age, you can never be lonely. There is always something fun to do with money regardless of the age. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise
What makes you think all rich people always have people around them?
SMH for this generation

Your physical state at old age is the report card on how you treated your body all your life.

There are 90 year olds who look good and walk strong.

Of course there are exceptions.

Stop talking pls. Wetin you mean na another kind of suffering. Age is blessing.

Everthing exist in their own meaningfull context. A crawlimg child with no teeth shittin dayly on himself is that sufferning? A teen with no direction niether depended or independent is that suffering. A young adult with the weight of responsibility the demand of success endlessly on his shoulder Is that suffering.

Just pray for the right people around you to take care of you in times of need. Becaue old or young with no nice good people around you, you will struggle.

I have always thought same...

Infact, I have a phobia for old age. I can't what it's called now.

Not being strong enough to do those things one was capable of at a younger age etc.

I used to say I never wanted to live beyond 60. But I guess it's okay to live very old if one is in good health and strong enough to cope with it.

I saw a picture of Denzel Washington recently Still looking young and strong at over 70. Atiku, Trump and some other examples still look strong at over 80.

So it depends on our definition of old age because they are also examples of people who look unhealthy and are not dependent on care from others at 50 or 60 years.

So I guess it depends on health. If I am strong and capable of taking care of myself at over 100 then I don't mind old age.

But if not God should just take me at 50 if I wouldn't enjoy my peace in good health at an older age!

Gerontophobia.

This your Analysis is from a poor man's view, Money isn't everything
Money isnt everything but the essence of having it has to be achieved...Either the love is real from people to you at old age or not, the purpose for you to stay old is to enjoy the life till you feel God "i want to go and rest" so if having money is one the reasons you can enjoy that why not?

Apart from your maybe good health, as a young guy you cant even enjoy life without money...

money is not everything but everything is tied to it...
However, old age without money and good health is a disaster

The lonely old people are the ones without money mostly. Do you not see how children of real wealthy people even go to do naming ceremony of grandkids in their grandfather's house. Money will always attract people to you. ANd it doesnt have to be your children alone that will be around you. Your businesses will always bring people to your location. Help and Adopt helpless children and orphans as u make money in life, a lot of them are loyal forever and will want to be around you.
You will not be lonely, just have money and spend it on people if you spend all your money on cars, na those cars go be ur companion for old age, if u spend all your money on ur immediate family, a lot of them will see it like u did what u had to do as their parent and they also have to go find their own path and may now visit u less....BUT u see those homeless and orphans, dem go dey ur space till u die, na u be their god and they will give u whatever makes u happy

If you don't want to grow old, kuku commit suicide at young age. Some people don't know that old age is a blessing, growing old in good health state is a blessing. You can't be forever young, it ain't possible

You don't want to grow old?!!... What does that even mean?!!

That's basically saying you want or wish to die young... Cos you can't be young forever.

Infact, everyday you wake up, you get closer to the end of your Earthly existence... Everyday ages you, whether you like it or not.

Growing old is a beautiful and amazing thing, except you are wasting your youthful years living anyhow.

Old age is a time to take stock and reminisce on the adventures and mistakes of youth... I honestly look forward to growing old and being around family and friends who are equally growing older too.

That some old people are suffering doesn't mean every old person is suffering and regretting... You have the power to determine your future.

You people should learn to cleanse your minds of such negativity... What is really wrong with many of you young people these days?!! Na wa o!

Unfortunately, it will only get worse. They keep voting based on tribal and religious sentiments and the leaders they think are their people do not think of them in the same way.

Until we eschew such mentality and vote rightly, things will only get worse.

I was thinking towards my retirement over the weekends and I realised that for me to enjoy at old age without suffering, I need to save 20million every year for 15yrs.

When invested & compounded @15% interest rate,I shall enjoy at last. Then,I would be 57.

Old age is imminent and must come...except for those who have been destined to die early.
20 million every year for 15 years?

Mtcheew

E no hard reach that level

Have multiple reasonable sources of income
Take good care of your family n send your kids to good schools
Have 3 or 4 properties for rent aside d one u stay.

Once u have all these, once your last born graduate from university then u are free for life.

That's just d reality of old age

Don't put too much stress on u, my parents are both retired n they just help a family by taking a girl of 10 years in to help them run errands.

It's that simple

Another thing is don't make mistake of marrying 2 wives cos no matter your plans n how rich u are polygamy go scatter am at old age

Keep in mind that these people are wearing their best clothes, their best attires, this things they have on is not their house clothes and yet see how they look. I pity those of you still toiling in vain unknown to you especially the corrupt overzealous once amongst you the police, the army etc. Extorting people and brutally manhandling innocent civilians this is how majority of you will end up.
Just saying “God forbid” “not my portion” “over my d**d body” and other religious chants will not be enough to change your tax system and pension scheme.
Keep doing APC PDP north south etc. Una go cry

Growing old is a beautiful thing as you see the world evolve and your knowledge/advice to the young generation.

The best way to enjoy old age is to have a proper retirement plan, not depending on your children to take care of you when you are old.

Well. said. in your first paragraph.
However, I hope you don't take the knowledge you display on this forum into your old age.

Live healthy so old age won't be a problem. It's not difficult to understand that. Not everyone becomes a liability at old age. My grandparents weren't and they lived long and very old. Except for my paternal grandma that had some kind of issues at her old age and required almost 24/7 professional care. All the others aged gracefully and left without being a burden
