Obasanjo did something similar in 2003 when he was planning for his second tenure but in a deceitful manner. Obasanjo cajoled all state governors to his second tenure. He went to opposition parties and pleaded with them not to field any presidential candidates that he will repay them back in their various states by returning the same gesture during gubernatorial but alas baba changed plan and PDP won all opposition states except Lagos cos Jagaban was very smart and didn't fall for his antics.
