Yoruba Voters Are Wiser Than Igbo Voters (1763 Views)

Majority of Yoruba voters have proved that they are wiser than majority of Igbo voters by showing that they can reject the corruption and malistration of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP). They have also shown that they can infact vote for an non-Yoruba presidential candidate without being bribed or cajoled with 419 promises like the Igbos who have made themselves the political goats of Nigeria. Just dangle the grass before them and they will follow you like "mumu". I am opposed to the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan by the Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other political sycophant, opportunists and conscienceless beneficiaries of the ruling People's Democratic Party (PDP) the most corrupt political party in the history of Nigeria. The corrupt ruling party PDP has been manipulating and rigging elections since 1999 and doing the same in the 2011 elections in Nigeria. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ruled that polls will be cancelled at any ward or area where there is violence. Therefore, the desperate ruling party provokes and instigates violence to disrupt the strongholds of the Opposition parties so that the polls would be cancelled and give the PDP advantage over the opponents. There were several cases of incidences of electoral malfeasance during the National Assembly elections of Saturday April 9, 2011 and I disagree with INEC and others that "the incidences were not enough to affect the overall results of the elections". There were rampant rigging as reported by many news reporters and affected the outcomes of the results as shown in Anambra, Imo, Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Benue, Kwara and other states where the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Commonwealth Observer Group (COG) and other election monitoring groups did not visit during the polls. The corrupt ruling party also uses political bribery and gerrymandering to compel voters to endorse and vote for the PDP at the polls. The PDP has succeeded to hoodwink INEC and the monitors. But we have resolved to reject the corrupt ruling party and if we cannot do so through election, we shall do so by a revolution as you have been witnessing in North Africa and the Middle East. Twelve years of the corruption and malistration of the ruling party have left the majority of the citizens poorer and powerless with the nightmares of incessant political assassinations, extra judicial killings, ethnic and religious riots, terrorist attacks and systemic collapse of government istration jeopardizing public healthcare, public education and economic security of the poor majority in Nigeria. a vote for President Goodluck Jonathan is a vote for corruption and malistration since 1999 to date. No matter what happens on Saturday, the Yoruba voters have already earned my RESPECT. |

PDP has shown some success in the East. Look at Enugu state. Sullivan Chime is a PDP governor who is developing his state. Amaechi is a governor who is developing his state. Why throw away good governors such as these? Plus, PDP has given the Ndigbo an int'l airport in Enugu and now a port in Onitsha. Igboland is developing and even the kidnapping menace seems to be dissipating. Sorry but I don't understand this nonsense. What is good for the SW may not be good for the rest of Nigeria. And when did ACN represent progress? Tinubu is someone who is placing his family in nice positions. Name one Igbo leader who has done that or has succeeded to do that? Orji Uzor Kalu and his brother both lost in Abia. I think Igbos are wise enough to not vote for known criminals. Now listen those words before you make ridiculous statements. |

Let's not tribalize the matter. Everyone is free to vote for whom they want in a democracy, no matter how foolish others might perceive it. If they want PDP, it is their right.

also, in the end of the day igbos understand that a donkey can be the president for all it matters, the only thing that will make your life better is your personal merit and personal achievement, and things like politics are just for formality. hence why they've completely taken over the 'smarter' yoruba land. You seldom see political riots in igbo land the way you see them in the north and southwest because igbos are focused on success and merit. Yorubas and Hausas are used to having monarchs and other grown men make decisions for them and assert their superiority over them, which is a new concept to igbos, so they're not willing to die for it or make it more important in their lives then it really is because every igbo man is his own governor. also, PDP has an eastern presidential candidate, and peforming governors in the east. |

@OP This poster usually brings intelligent plank to this forum. However, Nigerian socio-political decadence can throw a moment of confusion to a stable mind. Everybody in Nigeria knows there is always tribal twist to Yoruba voting pattern. It does not take rocket scientist to notice such pattern as recently as in 1999. If Yoruba son was not an incumbent during 2003 presidential election, AD would have still remain in existence and ACN would not have been born as a political party. I appreciate such tactless political flow of Yoruba people although mainly driven by tribalism. Such political dynamism is second to none in Nigeria. |

Let the yoruba and hausas have their hedious world of politics. The Igbo man is not a follower, he's a man, and until the yoruba and hausa understand what that means they'll never understand why despite their use of this political world to repress the igbo at all corners the igbo remain the most successful, accomplished, established, and liberated people in nigeria if not all of africa. You can have the ANC, our prize is the world |

It really beats my imagination why these guys think that an acronym will make a difference. NEPA was chaged to NEP plc and then to PHCN and what happened? Its not about the name, it is about the man. Mr Innocent can be a thief while Mr. Onwukwe (If Death Agrees) can live such a long long live. Wake up, it is not about PDP, ACN or C, it is about voting in the right people. Jonathan is doing a good job. This PDP led by Jonathan is different from the one led by OBJ. Take it, leave it. Come Saturday, Jonathan will win! |

Ikengawo: Dude, I'm surprised to be reading this rubbish from you. I think you finally got caught up in the nonsensical ethnic rubbish on this site. Nothing in your post is factual. I suggest to go back to your previous state or rising above ethnic sentiments posited by clowns of no intellect. The reason Yorubas voted for ACN is probably due to the proximity to Lagos with all Fashola has achieved. Second, virtually all the PDP Governors in the Southwest are crooks. No more, no less. People trying to read other ethnic meanings into this are i-diots, |

Orikinla, the kind of stupidity you've shown on this forum for sometime has become worrisome. That's why i'll advice to go back to the movie industry where everything is based on fiction. So, because majority of Igbo voters don't want to vote for your candidate they've now suddenly become unwise. Let me tell you, if there's any group in Nigeria that does not vote based on tribal lines it's the Igbos. They just want someone who will give them what they want. If a Cow can do it then what in f*ucks name is stopping the cow from becoming the president of Nigeria. The reason why majority of Igbo voters will vote for GEJ enmasse is because he has done something of note for the region. It might not be much but comparing it to other candidates he's addressed some of the problems facing the region. How do you expect the Igbo man to vote a Buhari who has said absolutely nothing about the state of the south-east or could not even in his wisdom pick an Igbo vice. Pls if you don't have anything meaningful to say just ZIP UP.

I think the reverse is the case. I dont get why a person gets elected automatically because he's on an ACN ticket, irrespective of whether he's competent or not. ![]() In the SE, the emphasis is on individuals, not party. A further confirmation of the republican nature of the Igbos. |

The very idea that someone has to think like you or vote like you in other to be wise is in itself very short-sighted, narrow minded and dumb. Ever heard the word democracy and freedom of choice? |
EzeUche(m): 9:35pm On Apr 13, 2011 |
mikeansy: I don't understand how the OP thinks. Just because one region votes along tribal line, why should others do that? Don't see how voting along tribal lines is wiser. Seem very backwards to me. We now know who the REAL tribalist are. . . |

If Ndigbo were divided between Ribadu, Shekarau, Buhari and GEJ, this shameless maggot called Orikinla will be the first beast to attack Ndigbo for lack of unity. hehehehe i love my igbo people , lets not be distracted by what this people think after all the united nation and other international organisations are going around preaching the power of one and individual development as the only way to tackle absolute poverty , illiteracy ethnic and religious violence in the world , something we the igbos have been praticing since existence, that's why you never hear of religious ,ethnic or political riots in igbo land , every man is special and important. we only need to kick out T.A orji of abia, ebonyi ,delta and imo we will get the right people in all our states soon irrespective of the party they belong to. |
monkeyleg: 11:47pm On Apr 13, 2011 |
@Andre Uweh, Most people one here are adults, matters should enver degenerate to the level when we start throwing gutter language at each other. There are other ways of making your point. I do not accept that we should ever have to come down to this level. |

All these talk of the SW voting along tribal lines is just pish-posh! In the UK, a substantial amount of the electorate chose to vote out the Labour party because they felt that they were no longer serving the nation and had further plunged them into debt. The conservative provided a meaningful and strong manifesto as opposed to the Labour party hence their receiving a majority in the house of commons. The SW basically voted a party which seemed more organised and have provided an example of good leadership in the likes of Fashola. They were fundamentally fed up with the corruption and continuous looting of the treasury and decided to make a stand and show that it is the people that matter, ultimately. The SW have exercised their power as the electorates and I disagree there is any tribal connotation to it. Why should Indigbo have to sell their votes to PDP all in the hope of being handed presidency come 2015, anyway? Come on, people! |
